The dinner meal was the main highlight of our stay: there was sukiyaki, the best miso soup (perfect balance of sweet and salty) with mushrooms, sashimi, tempura with local veggies, chawanmushi etc. I’d argue that this meal was better than some highly rated restaurants in Takayama. The staff were extremely nice and hospitality was great, some knew a bit of English. We enjoyed the public baths.

We especially loved the traditional atmosphere of the ryokan, which made the experience feel very authentic and relaxing. The onsen was a highlight of our stay—peaceful, clean, and a perfect way to unwind after a day of travel. Everything felt thoughtfully maintained, and the overall ambiance was calm and serene. This was a memorable experience, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a traditional Japanese stay. Thank you to the team for making our visit so special—we would love to return again

We enjoyed our stay in Ryokan Sansui. The view from our room is breath taking and the private bath is so relaxing. I also tried their public onsen and it was complete with amenities. Both me and my partner felt so pampered. The dinner and breakfast provided are delicious. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
