The location is excellent — very close to Oxford city centre, with a large and well-stocked Waitrose just next door, which is extremely convenient. The house itself is charming and very picturesque, with a classic British character that gives it a lot of personality. It feels like a traditional Oxford home, likely Victorian in style, with a narrow and steep staircase typical of this type of property.
The setting is also very pleasant: the house is on a quiet cul-de-sac, with a private parking space right in front, and there is a small patio with a river running directly behind the property, which adds to the charm and sense of calm. Overall, the house has a lovely atmosphere and great potential, especially for those looking to experience a traditional British home in a central yet peaceful area of Oxford.
Unfortunately, hygiene, maintenance, and basic property preparation fell well below expectations for a short-term rental.
Kitchen equipment is outdated and poorly maintained: all non-stick (Teflon) pans are heavily scratched and effectively unusable, which raises hygiene and safety concerns. The kettle was unusable due to severe limescale buildup, and the fridge had a strong rotten smell on arrival. While the oven was mostly clean, it was clear it had only been superficially wiped.
General cleanliness was inconsistent throughout the house, with visible dust, cobwebs in easily accessible areas, food residue in the living room, and signs that some areas had not been properly cleaned. There was also a noticeable infestation of ladybirds inside the property (over 20 insects), including visible nests in the bathroom and in one bedroom curtain.
From a maintenance perspective, the bathtub drain and shower were partially blocked, causing water to accumulate. The house suffers from significant cold air infiltration through doors and windows. Although the heating system is powerful, it shut down twice during the three-night stay, once not restarting automatically overnight. This, combined with poor insulation, made maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature difficult despite sub-zero outdoor temperatures.
Waste separation was also unclear or incomplete. Only a general waste bin was available, with no visible recycling or food waste bins, despite local waste separation requirements.
While customer support was responsive and followed up on reported issues, many of the problems were clearly visible and should have been identified and resolved before guest arrival. A short-term guest should not be expected to spend time inspecting, documenting, and reporting multiple basic issues during their stay.

Near grocery store and coffee shop.
Did not warm up in the mornings despite turning up thermostat.

It was very compact and had everything we needed.
There were rats in the courtyard, it was covered in weeds.
There was no garden furniture

Very clean and tidy facilities. Modern home. Looks even better than the pictures. Easy to check in and out.
£179 security deposit was a bit steep, so be cautious of that. There is also rats outside the property in the garden so make sure to keep doors closed.

Overall the property is nicely located not far from Oxford city center. General conditions of the property are good.
The most worrying factor of this property was the presence of huge rates in the garden which prevented our kids from using that space or to leave any door open. The property should not be rented until the matter with the rodents is resolved as this is a sanitary issue. Other items like very small towels provided (not suitable for adults), blocked bathroom drains and a general upkeep on the bathroom and very small beds (also due to size of the bedrooms).

The property is clean & tidy. Great stay indeed. Can easily access to convenient store. One things is the bed too small & mattress too soft. Not comfortable for elderly people.

Great location of cozy apartments close to the center and the railway. Everything you need was included. The staff responds immediately to requests. We really enjoyed staying in this house during our holidays. The best thing about it is location, it’s close to the railway station and city centre. Only three minutes walk to supermarket

There are a lot of things right with this property; lovely hot shower, great amenities, location is decent with a Waitrose around the corner, a parking space, we liked the decor. It’s a shame it’s been let down by very simple things, lack of care.
Firstly, I think the agent looking after this property is letting the owner down and most of these issues all come back to them.
We advised our arrival time would be approx 1pm and unlike most properties we’ve stayed in, there was no compromise. The property is ready at 3pm, that’s it.
The location on the map is also massively out and further away from centre which is a problem when you have a young child, we had to resort to sitting on shoulders to get him to and from the property. I can see this was mentioned on another review but hasn’t been updated.
Upon entering there was fluff and bits on the stairs carpet and also across the landing along with a pile of post; cards and bills. Hair in the single bedroom and the skirting boards in the bathroom were untouched. Finger marks on kitchen cupboards along with splashes of food on the door and the roller blind in the living room was broken. In the bathroom, there are loads of flies stuck to the ceiling, soap scum marks and green mould on the shower. The extractor doesn’t work so it’s a steam-fest when you have a shower, now I understand the need for all the dehumidifiers. Disappointing.
There is no manual so you have to try and find things as you go, such as the hairdryer which is the single bedroom wardrobe. When I took this down it brought a lot of dust with it. The heating is on a panel in the downstairs hallway with no instructions.
Now, if you’re vertically challenged, the towels will be great for you. They are small and vary in quality and colour. The same for the ‘double bed’ which is the smallest double bed I have ever laid in and also had bobbly sheets from wear. Clearly the ‘small’ double bed no one usually buys (120 x 190). Myself and my husband are or very normal, slim stature and it was ridiculous. I retreated at 1am to the single bed as it was impossible to sleep. This also makes me question the configuration; the single bed room is larger and would happily fit a double or kind size bed.

The property was good.
Two things annoyed me: the location was not exactly as presented in booking, but a little further from the city center; and the correspondence with the host was bot friendly - to many things we are not allowed to do and stages we had to pass and to fill up in order to get there.

Nice location, very close to Waitrose which makes it convenient to shop. Comfy and nice neighbourhood. 15-20 mins walks from the rail station, ok to walk without luggage. 20-30 mins walk from town centre, westgate.
Everything fine, not much to complaints without overly picky. No pub nearby, only a Chinese takeaway at the corner. Need to order Deliveroo otherwise.

Beds were comfortable, great WiFi signal, location was ideal, it was a quiet cul de sac and parking for one car are the only positives I can give.
Lack of cleanliness, several cobwebs present, dirty and dusty skirting boards. Lounge flooring has several areas of deep scratches to the wooden flooring. Furniture isn’t pulled out for cleaning to take place behind, therefore dusty and debris. Only 2 mugs !! No plug in bathroom sink, water not draining away and black stuff coming up from pipe, (did send out a plumber who rectified the bathroom sink issue, still no plug though). Radiator not working in back bedroom. Stains present on sofa and cushions, needs complete redecoration throughout, very tired and tatty looking, did find the green paint very oppressive. Garden very unkempt, weeds everywhere, broken fencing, no garden furniture if one had wanted to sit in the sunshine. Advertising photos are not a true representation of the property and it is definitely not Oxfords Most Stylish House.

Really Nice Little house, near the bus stop and a big supermarket. Super clean and the key box is really useful and makes the arrival procedure quick and easy
The only negative point is that we had to give your credit card details by phone to a person you don’t know, it should be better to have a safe website to fill them rather than by phone, which is a bit strange, even more knowing that our bank details are already on the Booking app.

A bit far from the center of town, but it is walkable. Very nice patio. Cute neighborhood and very close to Waitrose supermarket. Very spacious home and nice to have a washing machine.
It was clean but could use a deep cleaning. There is a lovely patio but no patio furniture to sit outside and enjoy. Also there is a nice canal along the back that you can't see from the patio. Other apartments had rod fences so you could enjoy the view, but ours was a wooden fence. No clothes dryer, so either hang clothes outside on the clothesline or around the house to dry.

The location of the property is great (just a 10 min walk into town) and having the parking out the front is very useful.
A few days before checking in I messaged the host to mention I did not have the key collection details and I was told that I would receive them the day before my arrival. This did not happen and on the way from the airport to the apartment I called as I still didn't have the details and was told that it was pending a security deposit and copy of my ID (not very easy to provide when driving down the m4)...Moreover, why didn't you tell me this 3 days earlier when I had emailed?
When we arrived the apartment was very cold - I was told there was a Nest in the living room...but there is no Nest, there is an 1980s thermostat which appears not to be actually connected to the heating and another thermostat I found in the hallway eventually seemed to be the right one, even though there were no instructions, which isn't helpful.
My wife then wanted to have a shower and has other people reported it seemed to be either cold or scalding hot. I messaged for some support and was asked to send a picture of the boiler and then someone from a call centre called me who said they had never visited the property, had no idea and generally were not very helpful. Eventually after taking the panel off the boiler I found a display and with some fettling managed to turn it down (again some instructions would have been useful).
I would also note that the kitchen is very small and despite being told "feel free to use oil, salt, pepper etc" none of those things existed so I had to go and buy them. I have no problem providing these things myself, but dont tell me they are there if they are not.
Also the description of "Most stylish house" is a nonsense - By no means did I choose this place for its style credentials, but it has an odd green wall (as you can see in the pics) that for some strange reason someone has decided to continue onto the ceiling. The main bed is small for a double and is not very comfortable.

The accommodation staff did not allow us to get into the house because we forgot to pay £200 for the deposit. when we had already paid for the deposit and the staff send a 4 digit code to access to key in lockbox, they forgot to put the key in the lockbox, then we have to wait for 2 hours until the staff arrived at home and provide us a key to access to the accommodation.

The location was great
The property advertises a clean tidy garden, with a neat shed. The reality was a garden that was populated with weeds, a couple of plant pots over run with weeds. No garden furniture. A garden shed , door was left open and it had a empty packet of cigarettes. A washing line that wasn't installed properly and not maintained. Trees hanging over into garden, no maintenance of them. No bedding for sofa bed, no towels for 5th guest, not enough cups for number of people staying. Kitchen not well provided with kitchen equipment.
Stains on sitting room ceiling from an obvious leak from bathroom.
Keep safe was problematic and on one occasion, we had to enlist the help of a neighbour .

Ten minute walk to city. Beds were comfortable and clean linen/towels.
Paintwork tired and stains on ceiling. The sofa bed was not comfortable and had hard metal rail which was painful if sitting on it. No outdoor furniture in garden. No toilet roll left so had to go and buy some as soon as we arrived.
4.0 / 10.0
Location was good. Neighbours friendly. Helped us get the key out of lockbox! Although very squashed in the rooms, beds were comfy and linen was clean. Lots to do and some really wonderful architecture and restaurants in the area.
We found the lockbox really difficult to get into; neighbour came out as he said it had happened to previous visitors and we eventually got in. Owner had stated on text that there was CCTV outside and noise monitors inside the home, but this is not the case.
Home billed as 'most stylish' - sadly, this is stretching the truth. Sofa bed came apart and stayed apart, no fixings, so one daughter had to just sleep on it in its sofa state with a blanket as spare duvet/pillows had no linens on them - luckily only 5 of us. Kitchen poorly equipped: only 3 mugs! Garden is in an appalling state: strewn with weeds and old cigarette butts, which was so disappointing as we'd hoped to find seating to sit out in the sunshine.
The general state of house was clean but shabby: partially painted in kitchen, with big dent in fridge; stains on lounge ceiling, scuff marks on all walls and what looked like food or make-up stains on bedroom carpets. For price, additional 'cleaning' costs and request of such a high security deposit (£200), we were expecting a much better equipped and upkept home.

Good location ten minutes walk from railway station. Twenty minutes to town centre. Supermarket next door. Nice walks nearby along river or canal. Pleasant road, with parking for one car. Plenty of hot water, soap and towels. Easy to get to via west side of Oxford ring road.
Few areas need touching up with paint. Back yard was scruffy with weeds, and there was no seating available outside. The "double" bed which was advertised is NOT a double as most people would know it. This is a four foot bed, whereas a genuine double bed would be four foot six inches. Although the mattress was comfortable, a four foot bed is a bit of a squeeze for two adults. The kitchen could do with a couple of mixing bowls and some egg cups. Tablemats would be good for the glass dining table, but possibly these have been removed due to covid. The Waitrose delivery yard is quite noisy at night for the back bedroom.
