We loved the amazing rooms and space. The pool after a long, hot day was fantastic! The facilities were great and the staff were helpful.
I loved the location, but walking the hill to get there is tough, particularly if you just want to pop out for some groceries.

Peace, quiet and swimming pool to cool down in the garden. Felt very secure and comfortable with the locks and gates with passcodes. The rooms were lovely, with high ceilings and paintwork. Bathroom was impeccable.
Pool fountain didn’t work and the steps were getting old. This didn’t matter as it was still very refreshing, it’s in the shade by 5pm.
Food and drinks are not offered, but you can ask to see what they have. Coffee is in a bag but you can request a cappuccino from the lovely staff.
Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
It’s a very steep hill up from the Porta Romana. Require a taxi at some times as the road is narrow and cars pass occasionally.

We ended up here due to a cancelled flight but it was a happy accident. Nice pool, relaxing garden, convenient location, nice home made beers, and food available on site. Great host!
Local roads and parking is very tight!

As soon as I arrived it was everything I hoped for. Stunning property felt rural even though just out of city.
Perhaps a bit far to walk in the evening if you wanted to walk back from centre.

The location - out of town but if you like quiet and being able to walk into the city then this is perfect
The pool and shady garden was amazing to have access to - I could have spent days there dipping into the city for lovely things then back to relax
The staff were very welcoming and helpful
The breakfast wasn’t amazing - i was traveling with a hungry teenage boy!
better lighting / furniture to relax inside if raining ( I thinkSome rooms have this in the room ) . Lots of lovely space but too dark to read !

Exceptional historic villa with all the modern amenities in the beautiful tuscan countryside and still only 20-30 min walk to Ponte Vecchio. Beautiful garden and pool. Relaxed atmosphere, helpful, friendly personnel.

It felt like a great respite from busy Florence. Great breakfast. Decent dinner. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. The pool was a dream in the heat of late June. Would highly recommend.

Very spacious , beautiful views , stunning rooms .
Pool very welcome after a day in the city .
Think that parking should be included in the price to be honest !
Also the walk up the hill was fine for us after a day in the city , or supper out , but for some people this would be difficult . My elderly parents would not have been able to manage , but I believe there is a bus or taxi .

We were there 9 years ago when they just opened and this is our second time there. What we love most, apart from the stunning room with trompe l’œil decorations,is that we were within walking distance from the centre of Florence away from the noise of the tourist hustle and bustle with the added benefit of the chance to walk off any calories from dinner!
Paying extra for on site parking.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The property, the rooms and the outdoor landscape are all so beautiful and relaxing. The pool is a big plus, we took a quick dip as it is still not war enough but it was still refreshing and amazing!
For us it was not a problem but you need to know that to get to and from the city, you need to be sporty as it is a steep 12-minute walk to the gate of the city and then around 20 minutes to the cathedral.

It was a fine old building.
It was expensive for what it offered. Just a guesthouse a long way from any restaurant shops bus routes etc. For the high price the room was small, and lacked furniture- only one arm chair for two people. There was nowhere else to sit and relax. The food very very simple and was expensive for what it was. Check out was before 1130 - they asked us to leave at 1020. We refused.

Beautiful garden inside a secure property. Spacious rooms and facilities. Lovely pool which we used everyday as the heat was 34°
We felt safe and had a relaxing time.
Location was a bit awkward for transport. We had a booked Uber ride cancel our trip last minute ☹️
However … if you want a beautiful countryside view then transport can be difficult. Just ensure you pre book taxis in advance and the host is also more than happy to organise this.

This place was awesome. The staff was always available and on site (unlike many other hotels in Florence), you could order dinner food so you didn’t need to go into the city if you didn’t want to, the grounds were beautiful and the pool was so nice to have on hot July days. The rooms were clean and full of character (as the hotel is from the 12th century). The breakfast was the best we had as well. I would definitely come back here. Also the shower was not teeny tiny like so many other places and they had a tub with a pressure sprayer that felt like a hydro massage.
This isn’t necessarily bad, but good to know that it is a bit of a walk if you want to go to the city center…we had already done that so it wasn’t a problem for us…but there are plenty of taxis and it would only be around a 10 min ride.

It is a historical site. It was the summer palace of Machiavelli. The ceilings are really high and all painted. I really love the swimming pool. Even though it’s not heated because it’s a freshwater, black bottom pool it was quite warm. The grass and the grounds were beautiful. There was a wall of night blooming jasmine that you could smell. We could eat our breakfast outside on the lawn with tables and chairs they set up every morning. The breakfast was really great(10E/ day optional). They served it and cleaned it up. The place also has an elevator, which was a nice break from dragging things up stairs. Giovanni, the manager is extremely helpful. It is a peaceful oasis away from the intense crowds of the city of Florence.
The property is up on a hill and it’s a very long road to a bus. I had to use a taxi each day to go to town. It is about €20 each way. But it was nice to be away from the massive crowds of people in the city. The view was really amazing from the room to see the castles on the hills nearby. it was very quiet.

Nice Florence villa with lots of history in every room. In 20-30min walking distance from all attractions in the case the hotel shuttle does not run. Restaurants in the area (5-10min walk). Best pizzas ever can be found at Giovanni Santarpia (we went twice!).

The staff and breakfast were really great, Thank you. However, the experience was terrible because of huge number of mosquitoes - I could not sleep. I asked a repellent from the front desk, but it did not work.

Lovely setting and views. A little walk out of town but worth it, if only to walk off dinner every night!

Beautiful spot. We felt like we were living in a palace. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was very good.
it was a bit of a walk to get to town because it sits on a steep hill but we loved walking. Sometimes hard to get a hold of the staff.

Lovely friendly staff, peaceful room, lovely antique furnishings and great pool. If you are wondering whether to have a villa in the countryside or a city break, come here and have both! Only a short bike ride (electric ones to hire nearby and highly recommended) , 10 min bus journey or interesting walk into Florence centre. Truly a great break which offered everything we love best about Italy.
The walk up the steep hill after an evening out! Everything else waas perfect. You do need to be quite fit for the hill or get a taxi.

Staff were lovely
Hotel was in a gorgeous old building

Hotel didn’t fit loads of guests so felt private
Great location, about 30 minute walk into the centre of town but nice walk and just far out enough to avoid tourists
Mini fridge was loud and tv could have been better

Some of the staff were friendly.
Unfortunately our stay in Torre dei Lari was not as expected. Our Deluxe Double Room was supposed to have views to the swimming pool or the city, as indicated very clearly on Booking and on their own website. However, we received a room on the ground floor with a view to a dark small street. Also, the room was situated between the kitchen, the common toilets and the entry hall. The decoration/finishing is far from what you see in the pictures, the airco and the fridge are noisy.
Upon arrival, we communicated our disappointment to the receptionist. We could immediately feel in his reaction he didn’t have any intention to help us. During our stay, there were no apologies or compensations offered, and nobody asked how we were doing, even not during check-out. So, we expressed our disappointment again, in person.
Besides that, breakfast was poor and we experienced an overal cold atmosphere during our stay.
By the way, you need a taxi to come back from the city (situated on a hill) unless if you’re an athlete and you need some extra training.

An amazing and absolutely beautiful setting. Really classic and very stylish traditional Tuscany residence. The rooms were extremely well appointed. Tastefully furnished and sparkling clean every single day. Bathroom was complete and well equipped. Quality of sleep is excellent. Garden and pool were impeccably maintained and very beautiful. Extremely well managed residence. Cleanliness is top! An example to follow everywhere in the World. Breakfast was tasty and generous with fresh local products. Coffee is very good. Other meals were also excellent. The property has an active micro-brewery. The beer produced there is amazing! The real plus though is the way the staff makes us feel. Extremely efficient, friendly and caring for the well-being of their guests. We are very grateful to them. We loved our stay which we considered absolutely perfect on all accounts.
