The breakfast is great, the kitchen has lots of utensils, three sinks to avoid pile up of people needing to use, lots of fresh tea towels to dry crockery. The shower pressure is excellent. Free on site parking. Close to town centre.
The mattresses were being complained about by every girl in my room. The door lock was so heavy and loud that it woke everyone up, each time it was opened and closed. Terrible. The loos that can't be used after 10pm due to their loud flushing,,,,,leaving us with one loo. Get it fixed. No where to hang clothes/towels in shower room. No side board to put wash bag. No individual lights in the rooms. Individual bunk lights are fairly standard now in hostels. One locker in a room of 6 beds.... One plug socket in a room of 6.... Poor wifi.

Well-located, good value for money
Aviemore Youth Hostel is conveniently located just 10 mins walk from the train station and Tesco supermarket. Yet, it is surrounded by the lush forest of Craigellachie National Nature Reserve. The room and toilet/shower facilities are basic, though functional and clean. The shared kitchen is well-equipped and spacious, some residents cooked up a substantial meal. The room just inside the entrance is a thoughtful design, allowing people who go into the hills (my room mates include skiers, snow boarders, climbers) a spacious place to put on and remove their equipment.
