Great place, decor outdated,
The swimming pool, lovely surroundings
Rooms are a bit dated, access to the lift. You had to go out to get to lift, and it was raining a lot!

Definitely would not recommend staying at this resort. Shame as Aviemore is stunning
Good choice of breakfast and comfy beds
Turned up to hotel in darkness and doors locked. Walked to next hotel in the resort who said my booking had been moved there but there was no prior notification of this. Previous resident 'beard hair' in bathroom glass and on walls and socket (we were both females so was not ours). A lot of damp in the bathroom. Breakfast service was slow, bread wasn't toasted and bottom of plate had brown thick liquid on it. Swimming pool had dirty marks at the bottom, many broken or non functioning lockers, low water level evident from walking in and struggling to pull up to use pool ladders and steam room out of order. Sent email complaint and response asked for photos which I sent and then received no response after this.

Not a place for a relaxing spa break.
The room wasn’t large but it was clean and there were Elemis products in the bathroom. The buffet breakfast was OK, the sausages were nice and even though the mini croissants were cold, they were tasty. The spa pool was small but nice and loungers by the pool were nice - pity you don’t really get a chance to enjoy it peacefully for that long.
I had booked here because the booking.com website and their own suggested it was a good place for a tranquil spa break. I was booked at the Morlich Hotel but the evening before I got a call that I’d been moved to the Highland Hotel. Got there at 4pm and asked about booking the afternoon tea (apparently requires 24 hr notice, not mentioned on their website) also clear that the receptionist (not the friendliest) and bartender didn’t know how to book it. The cocktail/whisky bar looked very tired and unappealing as somewhere to relax. At the reception desk it noted that the pool was open for blocks of 60-90 mins and then closed for 15 mins and I was told that was also true of the steam room/sauna etc - it had the opening slots starting from 8am. The room was accessed outside the building and only saving grace was that it was closer to the pool etc. The hallway leading to the room was filthy. I went to the pool area and was told by a lovely woman the steam room was not working and that all treatments were booked till mid-Dec, though she did recommend somewhere else. The next morning I went at 8am but the pool was shut, different hours on a weekday but the specific times were at the reception desk in the other building . At breakfast I checked and it would be open at 9am. Got there for 9am and was told that in addition to the steam room being out of bounds, the sauna needed 2 hours to warm up. While the spa pool and lounger were nice, we were kicked out at 10.15 and were told we couldn’t return till 10.30. I understand this was because of lifeguard breaks but you couldn’t stay on the lounger during that time.. I asked if there was anywhere to wait and the changing room bench was suggested. I had bought into the website hype that this was a spa break hotel and had foolishly cancelled a last night in a lovely Inverness spa hotel for this. I arrived relaxed and left tense. Also not helped that there was nothing to cover the door peephole.

Great scenery and lochs.
The walking trails, forest walks, shops within walking distance. Friendly people😀
There was nothing I didn't like.

Old, dated - not worth over £150 for one night.
Rooms are old, dated and not worth over £150 per night. Left slippers by mistake - phoned reception that day we left and never heard from them again. Hotel reminded me of my old school - not good.

Unlikely to return sadly
Location and facilities on site
Had to change rooms
Toe nail clipping found in bathroom
Heater didn’t work in the room
Interconnecting room and the connecting door was UNLOCKED
Window didn’t seal properly causing draft in room
Only one plug socket worked
Noise from lift shaft constant and disturbing sound as we backed on to it!

Tired hotel made good by excellent staff
Very helpful staff, nice evening meal, spacious room and bed, nice breakfast except coffee which was awful. Plenty of parking.
Property was tired and tatty in places. Steam room out of order and spa treatments unavailable which was why we booked this place as it was advertised as a spa hotel.
Bar served me sour gone off beer first night, but I should have returned it and didn’t which is my fault.
Someone else’s very large poo was in the toilet in the room on arrival!!

Our stay was excellent and was what we expected
Loads to do on site
We were able to use leisure facilities before check in as we arrived early
Food was really nice and lots of little cafes around the area
Room was lovely and cosy
Staff were really nice and willing to help with any questions
The only issue we had was when we booked it said we could get spa and beauty treatments however we weren’t told that we had to pre book before we arrived and when we asked there were no treatments available for 2 weeks.

Would come back
Location, size of the rooms.
Pressure from on the shower head was amazing however once the pressure was decreased the head would fall out of the fitment and hit us on the head. Restaurants not all open however lots of choice a short walk from the accommodation.

Lots of potential but a little disappointing
On site facilities are a great addition.
When we got to the hotel, trying to find the right part to go to was difficult and confusing. Went to the first attempt and went to the desk was met with a 'we get this all the time' 'you need to go here' type dismissive attitude. The weather was awful due to a storm and so going back and forth in and out of different buildings to find where you were supposed to be was not enjoyable in the least and if this issue comes up all the time it begs the question.... Why hasn't things been put in place to alleviate this issue for guests.
Upon getting to the room after a journey in a very old rickety what looked like an old service life. The room was very outdated with old carpets but okay curtain and bedding decor. Very simple in room facilities on offer. We booked a table in the onsite restaurant as suggested. We arrived early and staff were accommodating to seat us early. The restaurant experience at the Aspects in terms of food however was not good. Ordered the fish, came out quickly only to find the potatoes still hard with evidence that they were microwaved instead of fresh.
However staff were accommodating and there was a clear effort to correct the mistake. When it came out again. The sauce wasn't nearly as nice as when it came out the first time.
By the time we checked in and went and had our meal there was not really time to enjoy the facilities.. So went back up to the room with nothing else entertainment wise available on site (a show or some sort of evening music offering would have been lovely to allow for socialisation).
Did not have the breakfast as it seemed overly expensive for simple offerings. Check out was 11am which allows a nice easy morning and lack of rushing to meet check out. Morning staff were cheery and professional.

TITG annual rally weekend
Room was very clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast choices were vast
Don't really think it was worth £735 for the three nights I stayed but in all fairness I didn't make use of swimming pool etc as I was attending TITG rally

Enjoyed it and would happily go back or return to another hotel in a different part of the country.
Location was easy to get too. Breakfast had plenty of variety and the cooked breakfast tasted great. Bedroom was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Shower was powerful. Enjoyed the restaurant food from the Italian so we went back later in the week.
The window didn’t quite shut properly as the latch was broken. Didn’t see this as an issue as we like a little bit of fresh air and the weather was hot. It was only a problem in the morning when people were chatting outside very early in the morning. Found it a little expensive for food and drink when eating in the restaurant.

Enjoyed our stay despite some problems.
Good breakfast. Nice place.
Shower pressure was barely capable of rinsing the soap off. Room surfaces were thick with dust, hadn't been wiped for a long time. Toilet seat was hanging off... fixed it myself. Extractor didn't work in the bathroom.

Would not stay again or recommend
Location. Room clean, nice big bed. Elemis toiletries.
Check in not until 4pm which is late. Room 162 next to elevator shaft which we were disturbed with constantly. Breakfast was awful. I always remembered MacDonalds hotel as having good breakfasts, but not here at the Morlich hotel which uses the centres restaurant.

Lovely, comfortable friendly hotel.
The location was perfect and loads of parking. Huge comfortable bed and nice and quiet hotel during the night. Lovely buffet style hot breakfast with quality bacon and sausage.
When you arrive at the resort the Strathspey hotel looked really tired and dated and spoils the look of the resort.

An enjoyable stay.
Breakfast quality and choice was excellent. Room was spacious and comfortable.
I was really surprised that the Bar in a hotel closed as early as it did, shortly after 10pm, with no facility for guests to purchase any form of drink, alcoholic or otherwise, on the premises from the night staff.

Average stay
This hotel is in a great location. Just off the main road of the town centre. There staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was far too hot despite not having heating on and the window wide open it was unbearable. The breakfast was over in another building, it was just ok. The place is pretty worn down, the doors etc looked dirty, the lifts up to the room were old and dirty looking. The place could do with a revamp. Also no water bottles given in the rooms, felt like we were in the fiery pits of hell in the middle of the night with no drink.
4.0 / 10.0
Falsely advertised with most of the resort closed.
The free use of the leisure facilities was nice to spend a few hours.
Our trip started with our room not being ready at the advertised check-in time of 4pm. This already seemed quite late for check-in and when we arrived at 4pm, we were told the room was not ready, and we could not be given any indication of how long it would take. There was no attempt by the receptionist to help by finding out what the delay was, or an offer of something to help pass the time.
We then discovered that our stay in mid-June classed as "low season" and therefore most of the facilities of the hotel were in fact closed. The restaurant in our hotel only opened at the weekend. The information provided in the hotel proudly says it is open 7 nights a week, but in small print on a different page says this is only during busy times. Nothing to suggest this is the case on the Booking.com website either when making a decision. Speaking to reception was again pointless, as there was no apologies for their false advertising or even suggestions about which of their restaurants were open, or recommendations for good places to eat out locally.
We had hoped to use the spa facilities and one of the main reasons I chose this hotel, and yet again, they were only available at the weekend and so not useful for our midweek stay.
The room itself was fine, but nothing special to justify the price. Only 2 channels on the TV worked. The room was also far too hot at times, even with the window open all the time. There was no way of getting the room to cool down.
Overall, I found the whole stay frustrating and really did not live up to the reputation I was expecting. Most of the attractions of the hotel were closed and there was no indication at booking that this would be the case. We generally felt like we were always causing an inconvenience to the the staff who did not come across particularly hospitable.

Meh average, rooms nice and make sure they don’t downgrade you
Looks rough from the outside but comfortable and nice rooms
They tried to hustle my group at reception and downgrade our booking to a shared lodge.because the place was full. Cheeky. Waited at reception for 40 minutes after an already long day to sort it out was a pain

I have stayed at the highland on many occasions but one night in the Morlich and I’ll not be back. 4 stars but no water-
Clean tidy good parking
No water-even to buy. Arrived late. No shops open in aviemore. Asked at reception for a glass or bottle of water. Told they didn’t have water and the bar wasn’t open. I walked at 10.40 at night to see if the bar at highland was open. (No offer to call to highland to check if bar was open)
Thankfully it was. I got a glass of water & then resorted to boiling tap water to drink this morning.
