Nice quiet location but super handy for working nearby. Gud shower. Bed is cosy.

Very well set out and had everything needed.
The towel rail in the bathroom wasn’t working so a bit chilly in there.

The house had everything we needed and was the perfect place to stay before our long hike the following day. It’s also very close to the town (about a 15-minute walk) but located in a quiet area, which made it ideal for a restful night.
The only small downside was that it was a bit difficult to find, and there were no clear instructions about where to park. Luckily, there’s a free parking area very close by, but it’s not allowed to park directly in front of the house (there’s a sign stating this). Other than that, everything was perfect.

Comfortable and with all facilities needed for a self-catering stay. Very quiet location. The host was responsive and friendly.
Could be made easier to find.

Facilities look o.k.; the host was quick to respond a question on the booking app.
This is a tough one to rate. The biggest issue doesn't clearly emerge from the reviews: This is in someone's garden, but the host prefers contactless management. Either of these two points alone is fine, but in their combination they made us feel like intruders on someone's property.
Since there were no detailed instructions, we ended up on the wrong property with a really unhappy neighbor first, before we made our second try on the front side of the correct building, but one should enter from the backside. (In some countries, walking around the wrong property like this can get you shot with a 12-gauge.) A feeling of unwelcomeness and that this is a kind of moneymachine in someone's backyard never left us.
And then, it might not be, maybe the hosts are awesome people. We wouldn't know. I think with a proper welcome, because then we would know that we are indeed welcome, this could be an 8.
But in terms of facilities it also doesn't add up. No WiFi, no kitchen (but a pan, curiously), the bed a few inches too short; it doesn't reach the value and care that we found elsewhere in Scotland for the same price.

Lovely little cabin, comfy bed and sofa. Kitchenette with toaster, kettle and new microwave - great for a couple of nights. Good shower, plenty hot water.
No chairs to go with the table on the porch. Not many hooks for clothes - could be a problem if had a lot of wet gear.

The space!

Perfect little cabin in a nice environment.
Comfortable, cosy, simple and cute decoration to
make us feel at home.
There is no stove in the kitchen, just a microwave. A portable stove could be a major improvement.

Good central location in Lairg for exploring the beautiful and rugged Sutherland. Clean, modern and quiet accommodation.
It says in the listing there is a kitchenette but there are no cooking facilities at all, other than a microwave. This was somewhat disappointing as we had to cook breakfast in a disposable BBQ on the floor outside the cabin. The listing should have stated this more clearly: saying it has a kitchenette leads the visitor to assume that there are at least a couple of rings to cook on.
WiFi would have been a nice addition. The cabin is in the garden of the house so not sure why it wasn't provided.
Only one chair was provided on the patio area even though the cabin is for two people.
There was no storage at all for clothes in the cabin. Even just something to hang a few items on would have been a welcome addition.
The owner didn't see us or even communicate to ask if everything was OK or if we needed anything. Considering the cabin was just a few seconds walk from the house, this was disappointing.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but for the price we paid, wouldn't say it was good value for money.

It wasn't great but ok
WeDid not like the fact it was situated in owners back garden ,booking.com are misleading people this is not what we booked at all very angry as spoilt our holiday.

location in the village was clean
the bed was very difficult to get in and out it was not a problem but was a shock being in someone back garden
6.0 / 10.0
The location was good, where interesting walks began from the adjacent visitor centre. The Cabin was neat and likeable.
No cooker.
We couldn't even fry an egg, because the only cooking facility was a microwave. For a 'self catering' facility this was clearly inadequate.
We had to throw away food we had brought to cook. And the lack of cutlery, just one knife, fork, spoon each, reinforced the feeling that cooking indoors was discouraged.

Star Cabin is Ideally located for all excursions. There are beaches and Castles just a short drive away and easy access to parts of the NC500 if you want some stunning views while driving. The roads to get to the Cabin are easy and scenic. The property has everything you need for a comfy stay and there are a few nice restaurants and cafes a short walk away. The owners are lovely also, offering us to join them for a BBQ as the weather was warm. Great Value for money
There isn't a hob or oven to cook with, but we did not require one as the local food stops are great!

Good location, very clean, very hot shower and the heating was good.
It would have been good to know that the cabin is at the back of the owner's garden.
There was no hot water at the taps and only a microwave to cook.

Location, the cabin was cosy and warm. Lovely walks and places to visit in the area. Shops and garage nearby, the host very friendly.
The bed, a fixed double cabin bed much to high for me to climb into ( i am 5ft tall ), the mattress was just awful i could feel the springs though the top and slept on the sofa. Had to clean the fridge, micowave before use and sweep the floor. The vacuum stored under the sink made the room smell of wet dog. Could also do with a hotplate. To be fair it was a nice cabin, change the mattress, check the cleaner has done their job properly and remove the vacuum and i would definitely visit again.

It’s a lovely little cabin. Comfortable clean and tidy. Petrol station and cost cutters shop on its doorstep. Nice walk to take the dog also on the doorstep lovely still loch.
The bed is very comfortable but you have to wake the person up so you can go to the loo in the middle of the night. As it’s a cabin bed. But as long as you don’t need the toilet or anything then it’s no problem at all.

I thought the place was spotless and the location, right next to a little walking trail was lovely. Drove to John o groats and the scenery was lovely tbh. I had a lovely getaway and I can't really fault this place, was super comfy.
I know it's a small thing but there's no WiFi and the weather wasn't the best so ended up using my data plan. Also, this is maybe more on me but I thought there'd be an oven - brought my food with me thinking there was, so then had to drive to Inverness to buy a little mini oven to cook stuff. Would have liked a quick hello from the host aswell but that's really not very important.

Has potential but needa finishing touches
Unclean various cobwebs, only one tumbler glass, tiny bin not big enough for 4 night stay, bed tiny if you are 6 foot or taller you will need to curl up. Zero host interaction - we did not want loads but a welcome and check in if you need anything would go a long way. Coolin facilities microwave only which is limiting as there are very few local food options - hob would be great and make a big difference. Overall just feels like it needs more attention to detail and care and could be OK
