I’ve been all over the UK. This was my best stay yet. I was made to feel completely at home and the environment was warm and welcoming from start to finish. I would highly highly recommend.

I absolutely loved everything about it! Despite being budget-friendly, the quality is exceptional. The service is impeccable, the facilities are top-notch and brand new, and everything is spotless and wonderfully fragrant. The average rating is 9.5, but honestly, a 10 wouldn’t be enough to express how wonderful my experience was. Plus, it’s perfectly located in the city center, with convenient parking and easy access to everything. Overall, my stay was genuinely excellent!

I was greeted by the owner who was exceptionally friendly. She offered me the choice of two rooms. I chose the one on the ground floor. The room was an excellent size. It was very clean and exceedingly comfortable. I was shown the breakfast room and told to help myself to water from the fridge or coffee. The cereals in individual boxs etc were laid out for the next morning and when I said I would be leaving before breakfast was served she told me to help myself to anything that was already laid out. I was told that there was milk in the fridge.

Location was ideal, as we could walk to the city centre, the Hoe and Barbican.
We had a choice whether or not to have a full breakfast on a daily basis.
The owners were very helpful and nothing was a problem.

Location was absolutely perfect for my requirements, close to the Hoe seafront and Plymouth city centre
Room was immaculately kept as was the breakfast room, where there was plenty of choice of food and drink, and the reception area
Jack, Jen and Olive were very warm and welcoming and clearly cared about guest comfort

I'm not a breakfast eater so tea & toast & pastries provided were adequate
Unfortunately the man in the room next to me kept getting up during the night & stomping around using his bathroom.

This B&B is in a great location close to The Hoe, Plymouth Pavilions and Theatre Royal. I stayed in a small single room which was ideal for me as a solo traveller. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and tea/coffee and biscuits in the room.
But the best aspect of this property is the owner, Olive who is so friendly and welcoming.

The owner was great, very friendly. Breakfast was not included, but she insisted that I have the cereal, milk, and fruit that was in the breakfast room. The sink and drying rack were good for laundry. The lighting and charging ports were excellent. The window opens, which is always good, and the heating worked fine. The room was small, but felt cozy rather than cramped, and there were drawers to unpack into, to settle in and not have a suitcase in the way.
The shower door was a bit of a struggle, and in an old building the hot water takes a while to kick in, so it was tricky running the shower to get up to heat and trying not to spill water. The television had a mind of its own, in terms of which channels worked and which didn't, at any given time. The Plymouth bus routes kind of ignore the area, so there is a fair bit of walking to catch busses.

Myself and a friend were on a motorcycle trip to Spain and stayed in this lovely B&B the night before catching the ferry, Olive the landlady is a fantastic host, the rooms are very clean and the breakfast in the morning was an added bonus, even homemade scones !
Our ferry didnt leave until the afternoon and we could leave our bags there until we were ready to leave
Very good value and walking distance to the town centre and the promenade
Thanks Olive from Simon & Andy

I arrived late at about 8:30 p.m. but the hotel staff were very accommodating. I was greeted by a lovely hostess and a large, cold, glass bottle of water, which I had very much needed! I chose the smallest room, which was perfect for me as a solo traveller. It was small, but had good spacious chest of drawers and my own kettle with tea/coffee options. There was a TV as well attached to the wall which I didn't use. Bathroom was clean as well. The location is absolutely fantastic as the city can be explored easily from there. I paid 8 pounds for street parking just opposite the hotel, well worth it and extremely convenient.
Overall I had an excellent stay and I must admit a wonderful sleep. The bed was comfy and I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me I was snoring the whole night.
Perfect for solo traveller and excellent for the price.
Nothing in particular, but might suggest adding a small fan exhaust to the bathroom to let the bathroom steam out.

The location was great, really close to the Hoe and waterfront. I had the cooked veggie breakfast which was really good. I also enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast too.

The Mariners is like a home away from home. It was very comfortable, clean and the continental breakfast had terrific variety. But the best of all was Olive. She gave me a very warm welcome and help when needed. One in a million. I would certainly recommend a stay here and I hope to be back.

Olive is an amazing host. She made us feel so welcome and we were sad to have a small amount of time there. You can tell when someone goes above and beyond and that is exactly what happens at the Mariners.

continental breakfast - a wide variety of breakfast foods available
8.0 / 10.0
It was a pleasant and peaceful stay. The facilities are very good and the Guest House is very clean throughout. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The Continental Breakfast is varied and enjoyable.
One improvement which, I believe, would benefit the Breakfast area in the morning, is the lay - out of accessing the Utensils and the ability to collect beverages and food items before sitting down to have Breakfast could be improved upon. Presently it can prove difficult if a number of people arrive at the same time to make tea, coffee, use the toaster, access the fridge, ect , criss-crossing each other often. A minor point noted.

The location was great, just a stone's throw from the Hoe and seafront. Owner and the staff were lovely and could not have done more to help.
The shower pressure left a lot to be desired but may just be as I was in one of the top floor rooms. There was also an occasional bad smell in the bathroom presumably from the drains/sink but it didn't usually last too long.
