Access was easy. The car parking space was pre-arranged and was fine, though the entrance is tight for a large car. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The building and the room lacks finishing touches and style but it seems that the owner is making improvements and I hope this is addressed, as the property has a lot going for it.

Excellent location
Beautifully presented - work on going to renovate but didn’t spoil our stay. Can’t wait to return to see all the work completed!
Nothing everything was brilliant will certainly return.

The Owner is caring. It was a cold afternoon when we arrived, and I told him I was feeling cold .
He immediately turned on the Central
heating and he kept it on all night.
There is no lift.

The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations; the proprietor was not there to greet us but we were in email correspondence and instructions for access were clear. The rooms were clean and perfectly adequate.
As the hotel is currently being renovated, access to the rooms was basic and most of the other rooms were inaccessible. No bar, no reception area. It would have been nice to meet the proprietor.

The bed and pillows were really comfortable. Room was clean with a balcony.
The hotel is under renovation but this did not worry us as the room had everything we needed. There is no lift but that is what the old hotels in Paris are like. We really liked our stay.

We appreciated Benoît's personal welcome to the hotel and his help for finding shops in Calais.
We also appreciated the quiet location and the cleanliness of the room.

Secure off-street parking, central location.
Bare floorboards - very attractive but noisy when people walked on them!

The room was very light, clean and freshly painted, with a large bathroom.
The manager was very polite and helpful.
I think this will be a great hotel once it gets completely renovated.
The hotel - or the building - is in the process of being refurbished, starting at the top:
the outside of the building came as a shock, because it looks very run-down.
The reception and the staircase were very shabby - not a good first impression.
Our room was on the third floor, with no lift - difficult for my husband to manage the stairs
We paid to use the private car park, but it wasn't really suitable for a larger car, we struggled to turn and drive out.
Luckily there were no other cars parked in there.

its a great little pitstop for us en route home towards the channel tunnel. Benoit the host is lovely and helpful. Clean comfy rooms, great location. Price is very fair, there is parking at the back too, by arrangement, Ideal for us.

A great basic hotel / hostel if you are travelling via Calais. NO food available but plenty of places nearby.

Comfortable bed, very helpful host provided all information needed for late check in, wifi in room. Convenient location in central Calais with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and a pleasant park oppoisite. Free parking on the street.
Shower over the bath is fine but there was no hook on which to hang the shower head. Tea bags provided in the room and coffee in the lounge, but no milk availble. TV signal very poor.

Just 9 mins from Calais ferry. Only 2 mins walk from bars and restaurants and best of all, gated secure parking for motorbikes and cars (for a small fee).
Hall and stairs undergoing refurbishment, but rooms are nice and it didn’t bother us.

Hotel Richelieu is ideal for British travellers wanting to start their journey through France bright and early and refreshed. Close to Eurotunnel and the ferry port and literally round the corner from a good choice of bars and restaurants on a quiet street overlooking the park. Accommodation is basic but spotlessly clean and really good value. The residence is clearly being sympathetically renovated, and I look forward to seeing how it looks on another trip.

Great location to catch the ferry the day after. The place and the room are very basic, but perfect for what we needed and great value for money.

I liked the view towards the park. We had a spacious room, very clean with a vintage look. Benoit was very friendly, calm and shared his futur projects with us.
I would definitely recommend
The hotel is in restoration, which wasn't stated in our message with Benoit. This is the only disappointed part.

Basic but spotless and very close to town, private parking if traveling by motorcycle is very handy for keeping the bikes out of sight, ideal for the ferry or chunnel
Very basic and a lame excuse posted on the wall about not using small packets of soap or shampoo to reduce plastic waste, if reducing plastic waste is the you're intention you use refillable dispensers, you don't just have no soap.

The location, parking on premises, cleanliness and easiest for tunnel and ferry
9.0 / 10.0
The hotel is in a perfect position. Not far from the railway station, the beach and the centre of town. There are many restaurants close to the hotel. The area was quiet.
The hotel is under restoration, this was no problem at all but the floor boards need to be fixed as they are very noisy and squeaked.

Close to the city centre, easy to find, Benoit was very kind to text me about how to get it and facility rules.

It has spacious rooms (I've stayed before) and is very conveniently located.
Doesn't really apply.

The room is very close to the train station and to the town core. The old clawfoot bathtub was cool. The bed was great and the wifi worked. I stayed there during a renovation, so I don't know what the environs will look like, but the room and location were good. I was there for an early ferry, and the proprietor let me know that the bus to the ferry, a few steps away, was free. An added bonus.
No downside.
