Wonderful

Our stay was amazing from arrival to departure, the rooms were exceptionally well thought out and so comfortable, and the view amazing! the food was to die for Scott is a wonderful chef so creative and inventive. We would absolutely love to go back and Murdo was a great host and so helpful with itineraries for Skye.

Murdo was the best host you could ask for! He was very knowledgeable about the area and helped us plot our day on the Isle of Skye which made it easy for us to see everything on our list. But, the jewel of this place is the food. Scott is AMAZING! The food was next level, so elegant and delicious.

Without a doubt the best hotel in Potree!

Beautiful hotel with exceptional views in a fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from the center of town. The chef created a 5-star dining experience and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable. They provided off-the-beaten-path recommendations that made our experience on Skye so much more fun and memorable. They even provided recommendations for where to stop along our route to Glasgow after our stay. Truly a wonderful experience here!

Five star hotel in Isle of Skye. Immaculate ly clean and delicious food.

Every detail about the hotel was planned out and designed carefully. The hotel has only been open since 2019 but you walk in and everything is perfectly and meticulously clean. The owners have been in the hotel business for years and their son is the chef. 4 well appointed rooms in this hotel with a beautiful soaking tub in our room, balcony overlooking the water and a beautiful shower. We were welcomed with a shot of whisky and our breakfast and dinner is worthy for a five star star hotel. The chef has worked as a sous chef at a few Michelin restaurants for several years. This is the place for any foodies who can appreciate the time and intentionality that goes into the preparation of each meal with care. Extensive wine, rich desserts and creative and inventive menu sourced with local food and sources. The best place to stay in town if you love to be pampered. The price per night is definitely on the higher side in town. It is worth every penny. I am a world traveler, foodie and it is evident the owners treat each guest with exceptional service and care. There is no other place I will stay when I return to Portree. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

The only thing I would have liked would be a flat sheet in between the duvet when I got hot. I did appreciate the fan in the room when I did.

Absolutely amazing, great staff, great location, great food , clean !

The service was absolutely amazing , couldn't ask for more even if I tried. They went above and beyond, messaged me before recommending tours and activities. The meals are included and Scott the chef is incredible we enjoyed every meal that he made for us. The location is wonderful its right by the town square a quick 10 minute walk. The rooms are exactly as pictured, very clean , spacious bathroom!

The property was clean, beautiful and had wonderful views. It was a short walk to the Portree main part of town. The food was absolutely amazing!! Murdo the host is so nice, friendly and super helpful with great tips about Isle of Skye and other parts of Scotland. Scott who is the chef, cooks spectacular food!! I highly recommend the Taransay House!

Don't miss this gem at Portree

Everything was superb from the moment we arrive! The food, the hotel itself and both Murdo and Scott are very hospitable and friendly. I love how we don't have to worry about our meals (breakfast and dinner) and we can just chill and relax and enjoy! The food is Michelin star grade and we were grateful how Scott would check and customize them to our preference. The room is spacious, modern, comfortable and the bath tub is huge!! Murdo did a great job in explaining to us how to get around and the places we should visit. Thank you so much ❤️🌈 would definitely be back if i were to visit skye again!

Taransay House is one of the best places I have stayed. Murdo and Scott were amazing hosts - including but not limited to chef, activities suggestor, weathermen…. The room/hotel was a lovely size, the amenities were great (huge bath, separate shower, wonderful linens, king bed, separate seating), very thick walls so very quiet, great views, close to town, food was amazing with Scott planning each day with you

Exceptional family-owned accommodation, with the attention to detail. We loved every minute of our stay here and would like to thank Murdo and Alison for their hospitality, and Scott for the exceptional cuisine - we had a great dinner experience compared to a Michelin-starred restaurant. Next time when we are back to Portree there is no question for us where to stay :)

Very nice facility. Murdo, the owner, was friendly and extremely helpful. He really added a lot of value to the stay. We ate dinner there one night as well and the food was great, and reasonably priced. Overall it was a terrific stay and I would not hesitate to recommend this for anyone staying in Portree.

The ideal place to stay in Portree.

A simply wonderful family-run small hotel. Spacious and comfortable rooms, very comfortable bed, lovely big bathroom, everything spotlessly clean. Outstanding food - the chef is a dream. Fresh produce from the garden cooked with creative perfection. Murdo was a wonderful host - very friendly and helpful with great tips on how to have the best time in Portree. Highly recommended!

Friendly helpful owner - made us feel like it was our home. Excellent chef used fresh local items and put together a menu based on our preferences. The facilities are new, modern while still very comfortable. Attention to details was evident in the decorations. We were sad to leave.

There was really nothing we did not like. My only suggestion would be to expand the wines available by the glass.

Modern small hotel with a really comfortable stay

The location and views from the balcony are kickass. It is a small hotel with only a few rooms, but the overall feel of the hotel was very nice and warm. The staff was also very sweet and helpful. We stayed on the ground floor room and the room as well as bathroom were very spacious. Walking distance from the central Portree area. Highly recommended hotel

One of the best hotel experiences ever.

Frankly, you would be lucky to score a room in this hotel. It is very small, four rooms only, it is family run. They take exceptional care of you. The hotel is well and very creatively designed, it is exceptionally clean. The attention to detail is unparalleled. The food created by Scott is on par with best restaurants we have eaten in. And every morning you have an opportunity to discuss your dinner with him. Murdo gives excellent advise on what to do on the Isle of Skye. One of the best hotel experiences ever.

Breakfast and dinner was excellent. When you stay here, recommend to book in-house dinner, cooked by Scott, try the venison steak and monk fish, the best we had during our trip in Scotland. The weather changes quickly everyday, and every morning, Murdo provides us with the trip itineraries adjusting with the weather forecast, this help us in maximizing the trip. Thanks Murdo and Scott for your warm hospitality and great food... will recommend your hotel to our friends.

GREAT Isle of Skye!

Start to finish an amazing experience! The host welcomes you upon your arrival and goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. The small hotel is spotlessly clean and we loved the specialty coffees offered all day. Chef Scott is amazing and does a great job with breakfast but really shines for dinner. Using local ingredientes he creates a dinner to remember. Best scallops we’ve ever eaten!
