Highly recommend Sky Cottage when visiting the Cairngorms!!!

Sky Cottage

Great little cottage, a bit out of the way so you need a car. Beds and bedding very comfortable, cozy compact lounge, what's not to like.

Found nothing to complain about. We didn't do any cooking so can't be sure everything was there that you would need but it looked like it was.

Great place to stay with the family!

Self Check-in was easy Communication with the hosts went smooth. Spacious - which was nice after a trip that was often in small glamping cottages. Everything was super clean. I recomend for longer stays.

A convenient and comfortable base for exploring the Cairngorms

The kitchen was great. Had everything we needed and was good to use. Comfortable. The location was good for our needs.

It was a little difficult to find the right cottage. The cleaner had not finished when we arrived at the time we had arranged. The layout of the cottage was odd and a bit awkward. Was difficult to manoeuvre luggage. Block out curtains in the second bedroom would have been appreciated.

Great base for exploring the beautiful surroundings

The cottage has character and was in a good location for exploring the Cairngorms. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom and kitchen clean and functional. The living room was cosy.

The decor did feel a little tired and dated, and there was a lack of any of the luxuries (like tea, coffee, milk etc) that we'd experienced in similar places on our road trip.

Quite comfortable and well furnished. Ideal for the next door Wildlife Park. WiFi good and TV good.

Shower old, very small and disappointing. 2nd room "wardrobe" too small ,very limited space and full of ironing board/cleaning stuff. Both keys left In door-safe on leaving. (Couldn't find "Reception" lady who was quite unhelpful anyway). Front door handle nearly hanging off. Fire blanket ( out of it's container and left roughly folded up and shoved in the cupboard directly above the cooker)!! Hall door ( only fire exit) opened inwards from bedrooms. A potential fire hazard. Stay was enjoyable but these points definitely need some attention.

The building is beautiful. The location is nice and suited our purposes, it’s about a ten minute drive back to Kingussie to restock your food. The unit is very clean and warm. Kitchen is well stocked. Not a plus or minus but if you are booking you need to be aware that this is not a stand alone house but one of many semi detached units. The unit is very compact, it’s good for two but pushing it for more than that so make sure you like the people you are sharing with! We did so it was ok. There are no river views from the cottage that I could see but maybe from somewhere else on the property ?? You will also be asked to do some housework before you leave.

The neighbouring people came in after 12 and were very noisy so the walls are a bit on the thin side. Pack earplugs.

A lovely relaxing place to stay.

Cottage was very easy to find. Very comfortable and well maintained and well appointed. We were there to do some walking, so it suited our purpose in terms of location.

I would not return

pros- Well equipped kitchen the location was good but you needed a car. you could not walk straight from the property.

cons: inter connecting door in the lounge you could here clearly. Not ideal. The property had a fly problem we contacted the owners but told to buy Raid & sort it ourselves. The property small dated and a bit damp. it’s cheap so you get what you pay for.

Half-term Holiday

Location is brilliant for access to Highland Wildlifw Park and we enjoyed seeing some of the animals near the entrance on days we left the property. Also convenient for Aviemore and A9 if you plan to head further afield. Property was very clean and there was alot of great equipment available in the kitchen that made cooking easy. We also liked the availability of towels, teatowels, bedlinen etc. Bedrooms were cosy and comfortable. Lounge was nice and cosy, good selection of DVDs to watch. WiFi was also good. Bathroom is small, but perfectly OK. We have already tried to look for new dates to come back to the cottage, but we're disappointed to find there were none available.

We genuinely loved this cottage. My children did not want to leave it as they loved it so much.

Good location if you have a car. Well equipped. Great parking. Very private.

Would have liked a welcome pack, even just a t bag or milk as we came from a hotel in Skye and hadn't had the chance to get anything. Could hear neighbours very clearly. Didnt see the owners.

Really exceeded our expectation. The cottage was really well designed, very well equipped and snug and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the stunning part of the country ( great dvd selection too)

Decent holiday.

The cottage is well equipped. You have a fully prepared kitchen, with everything you need. It was very clean at the time of arrival. The rooms and beds are well sized. Location wise, it is very close to the wild life park (it is actually next door!).

The reception lady was not friendly when we checked in. Also, she knocked at the door on the day of departure, asking "When will we be leaving?", although it was still 90 minutes till check out time. I have to say though that she took 20 pounds for electricity, rather than 22, according to the meter reading, which was a good compliment. The cottage is cold. You need to keep heaters on all time while you are in (my visit was in September)., to be able to stay in. The cottage has NOT got Lake or river views as mentioned on Booking. Com. The lake is on the other side of the road and you cannot see it from the cottage.
