Black Isle View

Fantastic hosts. They were just what I wanted. A friendly couple who sat and talked about Scotland, I could have stayed and talked to them all day. Very happy to go the extra mile for guests.

The best thing about Black Isle View was the couple who run it, Margaret and Seumas. They are so welcoming, friendly, helpful, kind and caring towards their guests. The day I got soaked in the rain, my wet clothes were soon taken to their boiler room, where they remained drying out for the next few days.

Location was a little far outside the town centre unless one had a car, although during the day time there was a bus available about 10 minutes' walk away. Buses to other destinations around Dingwall were also available from this stop. The occupants of the two single rooms need to share a bathroom. This is a large, spacious, spotlessly clean room with modern facilities, but sharing may not suit everyone.

Margaret and Sheamus are two wonderful hosts. The room was amazing, very spacious, and extremely clean. The view was outstanding and breakfast was very good and full.

Nothing at this price and at these conditions.

One thing - I would have preferred a way to lock my room

Very nice and helpful hosts, comfortable room with a nice view and TV, access to a private, well-furnished bathroom, good wifi, and a well-made as well as filling breakfast.

Room and house were peaceful, spotless, comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely. View of the Cromarty Firth was gorgeous. Margaret is super lovely and nothing too much trouble. I particularly loved the well stocked bookshelves in the bedroom!

The house is lovely, with a beautiful view to the Black Isle. Margaret was exceptionally helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The room is cosy, and the bed is very comfortable. The assigned bathroom was across the hall and modern and bright.

It was a lovely stay, so nothing.

Receiving messages reminding us we were staying in her home and not to disturb the neighbours when parking . No choice for breakfast, some guests were given eggs we were never offered even though we were sharing the same dining table. Wife is gluten free, she supplied her own bread and that was all that was suitable for her.

lovely location and superb breakfast. I was part of a family group and we all enjoyed the breakfast it was really delicious. sadly the double bed was not at all comfortable for my son and his partner who barely slept so left early.

i didn’t feel relaxed sleeping in a room that was clearly still being used by family. we misunderstood the meaning of ‘homeststay’ we knew it was someone’s hime because the host reiterated that fact several times in communication, ( which also made us feel uncomfortable) we did not realise the rooms used for paying guests were not separated from family use. Also having to share their private bathroom was really uncomfortable, there was no way I could go for a bath and relax, knowing they might need to use the toilet. it felt like a lodging house or staying with strangers.

Location was lovely and convenient for Inverness and NC500.

Felt uncomfortable being in a room that was clearly someone else’s with all their personal belongings in the wardrobe and drawers. I understood it was a ‘Homestay’ but thought the rooms that were used for paying guests within their home be separate from the families area. The bed in the double room was very uncomfortable with a loose headboard, only 2 pillows, no bedside table light and a wobbly mattress with no support. it was so uncomfortable we had no choice but to leave and find another place to stay at a loss of £220. Which upset me as I specifically asked if the mattress was supportive because I have a bad back and cannot sleep on a bed with no support. The host did not reply and as the reviews were great I went ahead and booked. i had several communications with the host before arriving and I feel she should have told me the bed would be no good for someone who suffers from prolapsed discs, especially as during a conversation with her husband he said they had to buy the single bed for him as he also had a terrible time with his discs, so they knew the double mattress was no good for a person suffering too. The family have 2 dogs which I knew about and I love dogs but we didn’t expect them to be in the breakfast room whilst we were eating. There is only one ensuite and the single room my friends mum had to share their bathroom and toilet, in all we found it all a bit of a strange set up and mattress aside, an uncomfortable experience.

The wArm lady that runs the place and beautiful dogs clean rooms lovely meals and lovely hot shower stunning views with beautiful roses and lovely warm feeling best place I’ve stayed in in Scotland.

Nothing everything was great

Comfortable, quiet, warm welcome, lovely dogs! Also excellent breakfast in Margaret’s kitchen - not only the pancakes (which were excellent, as described by others too!) but the muesli, fruit and granola were superb - and no small individual packets, so a proper bowlful!

Shared bathroom - as per description, so all good there - but would be great to have a separate loo & sink so guests aren’t trying to negotiate shorter bathroom trips around longer ones!

The room was perfect. I loved the little touches such as the fresh flowers and fresh chilled bottle of water. The shower was lovely and hot. I also very much enjoyed my pancakes for breakfast!

The property is situated on a hillside overlooking the Cromarty Firth & The Black Isle which provides stunning views of a very beautiful part of the country. On my arrival , the hostess Margaret was such a welcoming lady who showed me to my room which was immaculate and very tastefully furnished. It contained a single bed which was more than adequate as I was on my own. Tea & coffee facilities, plenty storage space and spectacular views of The Black Isle. Not being an ensuite, the bathroom was just outside my room door on the other side of the hallway. The bathroom contained both a bath and an enclosed shower and was spotlessly clean. So clean in fact I felt guilty using it!!! Being a passing through worker, I didn't arrive to quite late and the hostess actually drove to the town to pick me up a takeaway meal which was exceptionally kind of her. The breakfast was very good with plenty quality coffee and orange juice, the toast was very good. If you opt for pancakes for breakfast, Margaret makes them fresh on the day. I had sausage , bacon and eggs which were high quality items and I never needed to eat again until late afternoon. As a lovely finising touch Margaret drove me back into the town to pick up my truck. I cannot emphasis enough how excellent Black Isle View is.......anyone opting to visit this excellent guest house will not be disappointed at all, from the welcome to the room to the food to the farewell , you really could not ask for more. But don't take my word for it...... go and stay there...... Thank you Margaret, it was an absolute pleasure.

As it was quite a walk from the lorry park to the house , I was slightly exhausted 😩 when I got there but unbeknown to me the hostess had offered to pick me up. There is really nothing I can fault Black Isle View

Lovely host. Pancakes at breakfast were good. Nice view of the lock from the bedroom and good walking in the area. Walking distance to town.

A television would have been nice in the bedroom.
