The Pelican Guesthouse

Adequate. My wife is coeliac and Jackie made the effort to provide suitable gluten free cereal, cake and toast which she appreciated.

We really enjoyed our one night stay at The Pelican. We couldn't fault the accommodation, the lovely breakfast or the service from our hostess. Very comfortable bed and a lovely hot shower were enjoyed.

There is nothing we didn't like at The Pelican. We chose the location as it was close to Long Stratton where we needed to be.

Jackie was very welcoming and accommodating. I needed to extend our stay by one night and it wasn't a problem at all. The property is in a lovely village setting, the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was a continental buffet.

There were only a couple of niggles that if improved would make this B&B perfect. Milk in the room, We had to go down to the lounge every time we wanted a cuppa to fetch the milk, which was a bit irritating. If there could be milk in the room in a little mini fridge that would be amazing. Breakfast choice was a bit limited, we didn't have breakfast on the second morning because of this.

Host was very welcoming and friendly. Room was very clean and tidy. Lots of variety for continental breakfast and a good attempt to cater to dietary needs. Characterful building.

Messaging from host and Booking.com led us to believe there would be a cooked breakfast on the weekend, however this was not so. Somewhat disappointing. Although the heating was on, the room was cold as the radiator was at the far end of the room. No fresh coffee, only instant in the room and at breakfast, not that nice. Curtains were not lined so let light into the room. New security flood light illuminated the room late at night when other guests returned - although we hadn't noted an extra blind that may have helped.
