The space was perfect for myself and the dog, all open plan with the choice of an open or closed off bedroom. The kitchen was particularly brilliant, it had everything I needed to make Christmas dinner and the washing machine saved a lot of time! The outside was very well kept and Percy (dog) was able to free roam as he pleased. The underfloor heating provided a nice level of comfort on the colder days. The barn is away from main roads etc and you truly feel like you’re in own little world. I saw just two people walking along the trails while I was there.
The heating was a bit hit and miss, when I first arrived it was roasting and I struggled to turn it down/off, needed to do both thermostats. On the last day there didn’t seem to be any heat coming through at all. The bathroom is quite small but nothing can be done about that. I would say the only thing I really missed was a full length mirror, I could only see from my chest up in the bathroom mirror.

I like being completely isolated from the outside world, but still having the opportunity to enjoy all the amenities.

Absolute stunning property, we had such a wonderful stay here, I was sad to leave, the views are amazing, walks straight from the door, the barn has everything you need, comfortable bed, lovely fireplace, good kitchen, great shower.
Love the open plan layout, although I personally wouldn't want to stay here with children for that reason & there are no curtains, but you can pull the wooden shutters around the bed downstairs if you wished, staying in October I woke around 7am, we left the shutters open.
The location is very private & quiet (although if the house up the track had been occupied, as I know that gets rented out too, that could have made things feel slightly different as it's only a stones throw away, but it was empty whilst we were there).
We didn't see or speak to the host once there, but there was no need as we had received all the necessary info ahead of our stay & there is a book inside telling you what to do when you leave the property. The cleaner was arriving just as we were leaving on the day we departed.
The garden isn't secure, which was fine for my dog, but might not be suitable for others, there must have been some stray sheep or deer in the garden at some point, as they had left droppings, we saw some deer in a nearby field.
We came in our Discovery, but my husbands M4 wouldn't have made it up the track, so not a negative but just a warning that a 4X4 is more suitable.
It was ok for us staying in October but I'd imagine in the summer months, longer days, I would have been woken at the crack of dawn by my dog, as there are no curtains. Going to the toilet in the night, I did often wonder of anyone could see me, but it is a very secluded location. (apart from the main house, just up the track)

Clean and comfortable accommodation with views over the Wye valley from the garden and through the floor to ceiling doors, which are beautiful. We were surrounded by wildlife, including a short visit from a few Fallow deer. We went on a few walks from High view barn to the river and Monmouth. It's also only a 25 minute drive to Symonds Yat.
Nothing not to like

Stunningly beautiful location, amazing accommodation. High on a wooded valley side with excellent views. Very quiet and private. Modern accommodation in a converted barn.
Property about 3/4 mile up a single track road, last few hundred yards a cart track. It is not suitable for a low slung vehicle like a sports car, but ok for a family saloon type.

The Barn conversion has been carried out to an extremely high standard...the full length window walls give the place a light airy feel with unhindered views...

High View Barn is a very special property. Perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. It was exactly what we were after. The beds are very comfy, the upstairs section for children is adorable. We could not find a fault with this beautiful barn. We especially loved the location, which is perfect for walking and popping into Monmouth for any necessities. (Waitrose and M & S foodhall) easy to park.
We will certainly be back! Thank you so much.

Loved my stay and I would highly recommend it to others.
Pros
Idyllic setting, high above the river wye.
Peaceful and mostly the sounds of nature. (occasionally hears traffic from the other side of the valley).
Grand view across the valley.
Distance views toward the Clee Hills in Shropshire.
Good various walks from the barn and nearby locations.
Monmouth is only a short drive away with good amenities.
Plenty of attractions and natural locations nearby.
Great venue for a couple.
Good value for a week's stay.
Had mainly wonderful clear skies. Sunny days, clear starlit skies, and frosty mornings.
Cons
No curtains, hence my dog wakes me each morning at daybreak.
Rough track approach for a low sports car, but OK for family saloons or SUVs.

The property was gorgeous, clean, stylish and cosy. The location is perfect for unwinding and the views are stunning . If you do need to purchase extra wine or a steak for the bbq the nearest supermarket is about 15 mins away in Monmouth which is great. Overall, we loved our stay and hope to return again soon .

The property is excellent and the local wildlife is a pleasure to watch! Birds including buzzards and pheasants alongside squirrels, rabbits and deer.

location was perfect for the walking holiday we wanted, very spacious and amazing views
Wi-Fi was not working during our stay and we were given no prior notice of this, sofa and living room furniture were not that comfortable. Some more signage as you enter would be beneficial

warm and clean with a comfy bed watching the sun come up over the valley. the wood burner was much appreciated in November. loved all the glass/windows to enjoy the stunning views.
sofa wasn’t very comfortable, not able to cosy in front of the wood burner.
the kitchen utensils weren’t great, no serving spoons and not enough knives.

Private & beautiful setting with nearby walks. Excellent support from the hosts
The property was very comfortable but a soft, comfy, L shaped sofa would be a great addition😃

The barn is in a secluded position along
a private track, within a stunningly beautiful
area of rural woodland surrounded by fields. The
views are exceptional and the wildlife around the
barn, including rabbits, deer, buzzards and many
other birds and insects is just lovely.
The outside picnic bench is a perfect addition to
enable you to enjoy breakfast or an evening glass
of wine whilst enjoy the views, sunset/sunrise and
wildlife.
The barn has sliding glass doors to almost all of the
side which faces the view, which is a fabulous
touch.
The mezzanine level was not used by us - staying
as a couple , but is accessible via a wooden ladder
which I’m sure would be a great novelty for
young children to use to go up and down to bed!
Monmouth is only a short drive away and there are
many lovely walks and cycle trails to follow from the
barn, including along the Wye.
The barn has good Wi-Fi and a great TV up on the
wall, the kitchen is spacious and has seating for 4
people to eat at the table.
There is a large selection of books provided on the
kitchen shelving unit.
Recycling is encouraged and bags/bins available to
do so in the property.
Cleaning supplies, sprays cloths etc, dishwasher
tablets and spare toilet roll was provided.
Unfortunately what let down this property
down, was the level of cleanliness which was
surface level rather than thorough.
I appreciate however that everyone has different
standard of hygiene.
The property had been cleaned, the bedding
was clean and made up freshly, dusting, hoovering
and cleaning of the bathroom and kitchen had all
been done including the floors cleaned.
We noticed used teabags left in one bin
missed by the cleaners; the kitchen had
crumbs and stains in the cupboards and drawers
The oven, fridge and washing machine doors were
dirty and table mats stacked on a shelving unit
had been put away without being cleaned.
There were lots of cobwebs - to be expected in a
barn but many of these had been there for a while
and could easily have been dusted away.
This property is lovely overall and is in a fabulous
location. Regular thorough and deep cleaning and
a bit of an update of a few very old items and
accessories and it would be perfect.

Well appointed, equipped and comfortable in an exceptional location overlooking the Wye valley. The ability to slide away the bedroom walls is a piece of genius, tea in bed looking at the view wonderful!
Not much to be quite honest. Just to say getting there is interesting but the directions given excellent.

We wanted a getaway from it all holiday in a dog friendly place and location. High View barn fitted the bill perfectly. An excellent place to step off the tread mill to relax and recharge. The view was mesmerising, Christine was friendly and helpful without being intrusive, thank you very much :)
