Perfect Xmas Stay. Cosy and homely

Ellie the owner was really friendly and helpful with any queries prior to booking and after. House was decorated for Xmas and felt just like home. Our family and our spaniel puppy Stan enjoyed the garden and house. Just perfect for our Xmas break away. House was warm and plenty of heaters to keep toasty as well as the wood burner. Great thought of biscuits, milk and beer left for us and keeping topped up with logs and coal if needed 🥰

Nice house, good location, friendly owner, I just failed to make the heating work

The property was comfortable and clean.

I didn't realise it had a wood burner powering the heating. There were no instructions for how to use the burner so the heating did not work. This may be obvious to some and I may have missed it telling me that when I booked, so it's not a complaint. I would suggest some helpful hints on how to work the burner and where to find the fuel for future guests might help.

The perfect place for a festive break

Parking was very easy and access was simple. On arrival, a fire had been lit and Christmas decorations displayed in the living room which was a lovely touch as this was a festive break with the kids (who also enjoyed the box of biscuits left for us in the kitchen). There were clear instructions for how everything in the house worked. It was clean, comfortable and everything worked. We really couldn't have asked for any better, a wonderful house that allowed for a a really lovely Christmassy break with the kids.

It wasn't a problem for us, but the house is heated with a backboiler in the fireplace, although electric heaters are provided, so might not be suitable if you don't want to maintain the fire or if you want all mod-cons. Wifi and internet are slow but again that didn't bother us, and we had a great time choosing from one of the many DVDs and playing games. But if you're planning to work from there or need fast internet connection, it might not be for you.

Cimfy cosy and quiet

Cosy and comfy. Fire was blazing when we arrived. Spacious upstairs. Quiet location, comfy beds and sofa.

No freezer, fridge doesn't seem very cold? Kitchen/pantry light switches confusing and would have liked more light over the dining table

Excellent choice for a 1 night stay.

Great location for exploring the Wye valley. Really cosy and comfortable house. Responsive and helpful host. Lovely and clean. Had everything we needed and some lovely little extras too. The kids enjoyed the garden.

All was good! Maybe a darker curtain in the single bedroom would be helpful to avoid early waking from sunlight.

An excellent location to stay in whilst exploring The Forest of Dean.

On arrival there was milk, chocolate biscuits and doggie biscuits. The Hazels has a fully fenced in back and front garden that not even my little Houdini could find a way out of. The Hazels is in an excellent location for exploring the forest and on the owners recommendation, we enjoyed a lovely meal at the local pub, The White horse. The beds were very comfortable and washing up liquid, toilet roll and all linen were provided. The weather was very hot and The Hazels was lovely and cool. There is a Smart tv in the living room.

It was very hot whilst we were there and a garden umbrella would have made it more possible for us to sit in the garden. The living room is a bit dark with one wall being painted dark blue. No freezer, so we could freeze our ice blocks or have ice for our drinks.
