Fabulous stay

Room was great, so comfortable and the large bath was a real bonus. Kitchen was excellent and so appreciated the tea, cereal and pain au chocolat.

It smelled, then the room was worse, had to crack open windows and poor bleach down the drains the bathroom stank so much that I nearly got sick, the bed sheets where really old and worn, one bed had black bed sheets this is a no no as you can’t tell if they are clean or not!! We where rushing to get to a wedding so had no time to complain, when we returned we were so uncomfortable we slept on our dresses as pillows and our coats over us, didn’t even brush our teeth the next morning got up straight away and left….didn’t feel clean at all

There was no breakfast option , the floor boards were coming apart and spongey under foot ?? The room was cold at first and musty , there was an electric storage heater but the room felt a little cold on arrival. Bed linen dated but washed. Pillows and duvet smelt like a young lads bedroom they were not clean and musky. Mattress also smelly.. and mould all over shower area .

Great start to our Ireland tour.

Stay away

So disappointed no one turned up to let us into the accommodation, we were attending a wedding had travelled 400 miles and just wanted to rest, we tried to reach by telephone,email, to say we had arrived and were waiting to enter the accommodation after 6 hours of waiting outside in our car, we had to leave and find alternative accommodation ,we still have not received any contact from grangegeeth, disgusting the way we were treated

A comfortable hotel with a bit of Irish character. Not in anywhere walking distance though.

The room was large and comfortable. The kitchen was large and had plenty of crockery and cutlery. The light breakfast of cereal was nice to have. The bathroom was large. No air conditioning in the room but we opened the windows wide and the cool air flowed in. In the morning the morning mist was lovely. It’s a short drive to a small town it’s a little supermarket and a pizza restaurant and the hotel does give numbers of local taxi drivers. The pub was a nice way to see a typical Irish country pub in action. No food on a Monday and not open Tuesday and Wednesday.

Don’t expect the wifi to work. And our phone coverage was minimal. I think the hotel is in a gully so it was very limited. We did have one bar on our phone. I don’t know who runs the hotel. We arrived and went to the pub next door and the barmaid showed us everything however the next day the pub is closed (Tuesday and Wednesday) so no one was around to help others in. The food others had left behind in the fridge and in the kitchen (we were the only ones left one morning so we knew it wasn’t anyone’s) was old or off. We threw away a lot of old rotting fruit and in the fridge I put all the out of date items on one shelf. I don’t know who cleans the place but I think they could spend a bit more time doing this.

Horrible service, mediocre facilities for the price

Spacious room

Had to wait 2 hours for check in even though we arrived at the agreed check in time, no staff at all to help us and no contact on app or phone number. No toilet paper in shared guest toilet down stairs so unable to use while waiting for staff to arrive, loud knocking noise during the night

Great kitchen, poor information, comfortable bed.

Fully equipped kitchen with various supplies including tea, coffee and fresh milk meant we could prepare an evening meal and our brakfast easily. It is located on a small country road with plenty of traffic including some lorries and large agricultural machines but the glazing worked well enough so that we were not disturbed. Parking was easy.

Some instructions - there were none. Mobile reception was flaky and the wifi code was not indicated (in the morning a chap helped me find the one on the back of the router) . There was only 1 bath towel. Poor lighting in the dining area and one table tipped when leaned on. It is possible that as we arrived later than expected someone might have been there earlier to provide advice and guidance however, in the absemce of a reception person, some notes would have been useful.

Kitchen for preparing your own meals, garden and sitting room. Large bedroom with lots of space. The extremely friendly and helpful landlord, his team and all the local customers in the pub.

I think the kitchen could benefit from having a communal and non-communal fridge as we had several items of food taken (whole loaf of bread, 4 pints of milk, packet of cheese slices), even though they were tied inside a supermarket bag. We were told on arrival though that we could help ourselves to anything in the fridge so I think some confusion could arise. Also, I think it would be helpful to let those know in advance, if they have booked to arrive at the accommodation when the pub is closed, where to collect the key. When we were staying there, 2 sets of people arrived and did not know how to get access to the accommodation and asked us. Finally, one guest was given a front door key whilst we were not. They then assumed that they should lock the front door which meant we were locked out. Luckily the pub was open! I think either everyone or no-one should be given a front door key to avoid this happening again.

We enjoyed our stay there. Clean and friendly.

We had a kitchen at our disposable so could make our own breakfast. Cereal, bread and pastries were on the side which was excellent. We were able to help ourselves to tea and coffee.

We were made very welcome. Fine big room, clean and warm and comfortable. Use of a small kitchen downstairs. Good pub grub in the pub next door. You need a car here. Good location for visiting various attractions in the Boyne valley, espcy Newgrange.

Good positioning and surrounding countryside

The owners never appeared and did not leave any instructions. No answer to the door bell, we entered and found two sets of keys and so we had to guess which room we could use. The room was spacious but with poor quality furniture. Everything was dusty and gave a sense of poor hygiene. We assumed that we could use the kitchen but again it was not clean and no instruction of what food we could use.

Another lovely stay

I've stayed here a few times now, it's a great spot handy to Dublin. The rooms are clean and tidy and huge, the bar is just next door and the food is really good. Slane is a few minutes drive away and there are lots of things to do nearby.

No staff to meet you or instructions prior to arrival so waited around for 1-2 hours. Foul smell in ensuite. Furniture looked like it came from a garage sale. Kitchen messy, bins overflowing and dirty tea towels left around.
