Great location but not a great nights sleep

The location was really good, staff were helpful and breakfast was great

The shower wasn’t cleaned properly.. it was full of limescale so water was spurting off in random directions. Plus the shower hose was very black and needed a good spray of cleaner and a wipe. Mattress was also very soft and hall light stayed on all night which shone through the door. Our room was by a generator too which made it too noisy to leave the window open.

Very run down room (room 2) Marks all over the walls making the room look dirty. Water marks and mold or dust in the bathroom all over the walls. For the high price we paid I would expect the attention to detail to have been higher.

Bedroom was clean. Bed comfortable. Very small pillows. Breakfast was very good.

Room 3. MOULD in shower, grouting damaged. Mould on window ledge in bathroom. Bedroom window glass loose due to putty falling out. Sunday roast dinner at 7 PM very poor. Vegetables and roast potatoes were dry and desiccated.

Night in Marlow

Located on the High St made it a great location for shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. And only five minute walk to the River Thames. Room was lovely. Vary spacious with plenty of storage. Bathroom was lovely with large walk in shower. We did not have breakfast but as we left it looked lovely. Staff very welcoming

Nice hotel but not worth the money it cost

Location was excellent. Parking nearby. Room decor was nice. Breakfast was lovely and good value as it’s less than menu price if you’re a paying guest. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Bed was comfy.

No air con, 2 fans & 1 didn’t do anything, no telephone or way of contacting staff if there was an issue other than going down to the main pub area, windows didn’t stay open, blinds broken. Staircase area was dirty and in need of a bit of paint. Shower not great, small head sprayed everywhere and leaked from the handle.

Room was a pleasant surprise after arriving in the bar area. Nice decor and clean. Bed comfortable. Great location in the centre of Marlow. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Check-in in the bar area is not ideal. Quite smelly - bad food odour at all times and you have to walk through a lot of smokers standing outside to get in. Rooms were stiflingly hot even though the weather wasn't particularly hot outside.

Would definitely recommend a stay at The Chequers

Staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Room was nice and very quiet considering it was above a pub and on high street. The Chequers is in the centre of Marlow which is a lovely town and makes the location perfect for access to the excellent shopping and riverside for walking.

The day we stayed was the hottest day of the year and although the hotel provided a big fan the heat in the room was very uncomfortable. Would be nice to have a small fridge.

We had a lovely stay. Room and en suite were very nice, bed was comfortable. Good choice of breakfast each morning too. Staff were very accommodating and we will definately be going back.

Good place for night owls

The positives, centrally located, great breakfast, polite helpful staff, clean & characterful.

If you want a good nights sleep, do not stay in room 8. I did not know when booking that on a Friday or Sat night they have live loud music. This pub is heaving over the weekend & the noise does not stop until gone midnight. How this affects the other rooms I don’t know. I think the hotel should mention the music on these days before you book. The prices were inflated for Pub in the Park, I’m sure all hotels do this, as we couldn’t sleep either, it wasn’t value for money. On a an ordinary week day I’m sure it’s a pleasant place to stop over.

Characteristic pub with lovely rooms right in the centre of Marlow . Staff were very friendly . Reasonably priced . We would stay there again . We never ate there but it was very popular and the food looked very nice .

The rooms were not very sound proofed as we could hear the rooms around us using the shower / opening & closing the door . However this did not bother us as it wasn’t very noisy .

Not a relaxing stay, very noisy room over the kitchen - and very expensive for the inconveniences.

Hotel is in a good location, the room was nice and spacious, large bathroom with large walking shower - bed was comfortable.

Avoid room no.6! We arrived and the member of staff warned us the room was above the kitchen therefore it would be noisy until 9.30pm. This was an understatement, the noise wasn't from the cooking, there's a loud humming sound which must be the air extraction unit or something. This makes it impossible to relax in the room. This then kicked in at 6am for half an hour and then again at 8am for the rest of the time we were there. I had to sleep with earplugs. Priced at £175 per night, this is totally unacceptable. The soap holder in the shower was rusty and there was no hot water when we arrived at 7pm.
