Very comfortable apartment that's a good base for Hobbiton & local activities

What a great place to stay. The apartment was very cosy and as we arrived in the middle of a tropical low, it kept us safe and dry as the wind battered around us outside. Good bedroom with blackout blinds and large bed, bathroom and shower with good hot water, aircon that can be controlled, separate dining/lounge area with tea and coffee making facilities (including a plunger) + microwave, induction cooktop and fridge. There is a lovely view down into the gully bellow, with lush tree ferns and native plants and sliding doors that open to a small balcony. Wifi was good. Almost the entire property has been built and refurbished from reclaimed architectural items - it has a high quality finish with a low carbon footprint. The owners are very proud of their efforts, as they should be. There is a thoughtful list of dining and activity recommendations. Mr Pickles in the CBD was brilliant - thanks. This is a good base for a visit to Hobbiton.

We enjoyed it all but if I could suggest one thing, a sliding screen door onto the back balcony would allow additional fresh air without visits from flying insects.

Quaint and Delightful

Quaint, and quirky. We loved the private deck looking out over the native trees in the gully.

We didn't mind, but some people may not like the closeness of the owners. But they kept away and were respectful.

Lovely place! The host added a little xmas tree and left fresh berries for us. We had a chance to meet the hosts and they are very nice people!

Not very close to attractions to go on foot, but by car is a perfect spot. Nothing to complain.

Wish we had more time to enjoy and explore.

The host was super accommodating with our late checkin. They made it seamless and stress free. They advised us on where we could dine when arriving late in the evening as many places closed early. There were a few eateries down the street or you could go a little further into town for more options. (We found a Thai food truck nearby, ‘Thai on the Fly’ that was delicious). The apartment is located on a quiet residential street, with the unit facing a lush green park. The inside was beautifully decorated and clean.

Hamilton Stop Over

Just perfect for our 1 night stay to break the trip back to Auckland. Quiet location, just a short drive to the centre. Very good quality facilities, all well presented. Fascinating detail on how the place had evolvover the years and the personal touches put in by the owners. The info sheet made good reading. Definitely the sort of place we would be happy to stay in anytime.

quiet and safe location. Enjoyed sitting on the little deck with a lot of bird song. Being "old fashioned", the provision of a teapot was very pleasing.

Bathroom sink is a bit small. A couple of steps into the bathroom could be a trip hazard.

Ok for a 1 night stay and to catch up on sleep

The location was quiet and peaceful and the bed was comfortable. The use of recycled materials to renovate ithe original shed into accomodation was a positive.

The bathroom is v small and awkward to use and there was no hair dryer. The kitchen facilities were adequate but there was v limited cutlery and no teaspoons at all. There didn't appear to be a tv either.

Excellent value for money

Great view to the bush and gully which are literally at the door. Bed was very comfortable and the heat pump effective at warming the apartment in the middle of a Hamilton winter. Location is great if attending an event at Claudelands - only a 3- 4 minute drive away.

Nice accommodation experience at a quiet place.

Very nice house with clean rooms. The bed is large. The balcony is just facing a forest, we felt comfortable with fresh air when sitting there with cups of coffee.

A little bit of paradise

The apartment had everything we needed for our 1 night stay. What a lovely surprise seeing the view from the living room; a little bit of paradise in an urban area. Nearby Hamilton Gardens were lovely. A great start to our NZ adventure.

Ideal for a short break

It was the perfect weekend hideaway. All the facilities were first rate, and it was central to the places we needed to visit in Hamilton. The eponymous gully was a real delight, especially the native bird song that filled it at night. Bonus points for having T.E. Lawrence's "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" in the book shelf, an old favourite I've never seen in any other accommodation anywhere.

"What could have been better?" - for the purposes of our 2-night stay, nothing. Everything was fine

A real gem, a must stay

This is an absolutely gem of a place. It is a very funky spacious apartment with luxury touches. The Gully outlook is so serene and private, making for a quiet chilled stay. We loved all the thoughtful personal touches and unique vibe. We will definitely be staying here again, this is a very special place.
