Playground was a hit with the kids. Theres a cool swing on a tree by the river which we took some cool photos on. BBQ area was so nice and spacious . Theres two massive bbq's that looked pretty flash. Another family were cooking their dinner and using the outdoor pizza oven that was cool to see. Didn't get a chance to use it ourselves but will def remember to take pizza ingredients on our next stay. Would love to stay in the Kauri Room next time for more space. Great friendly staff.

Toilet cubicles in shared bathroom were small so it was hard to enter and close the doors had to squeeze in. The Room we stayed in had concrete floors so i would recommend taking a playmat for your lil ones to sit and play with their toys on as it was cold.

Great place for a family to come. Had 6 and 7 year old in our party. There was plenty for them to do to keep them entertained. Would certainly come here with them again.

Perfect for a group booking

We were taking a bunch of girls to a netball tournament. The rooms had 6 beds so they could sleep together and we used the shared kitchen facilities which thankfully had some crockery and cutlery for breakfast. Rooms clean and warm. Great location, easy to find and friendly check in.

Lots of things to do with the kids onsite - ride bikes, playground, playroom area, kayaking on the river Shared kitchen facilities, outdoor BBQ, Pizza Oven and seating area - had ample space to prepare food, sit down, enjoy and eat. Knowing there was extra security due to the friendly dogs onsite.

Loved being next to the Haruru Falls. Loved the peaceful atmosphere and listening to the birds in the trees, smell of the fresh clean air. Loved the playground area and playroom on-site for the kids to play in. Loved how friendly and accommodating the staff were THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Suggestions: Outdoor light for studio unit A needs replacing, dark and couldn’t see steps to get to my car at night. Possibly more outdoor lighting in darker areas where bumps on the road were. I am a little blind so kept tripping on them from Studio Unit A when walking towards washing area. Possibly have a fence around the playground area to help keep the kids safely contained, but still supervised by an adult at all times. Pot holes filled in as surface was uneven whilst walking around the gravel marked roads - trip hazards. Dryer needing two cycles ($8) to dry medium wash load.

Overall it was very great experience from all aspects.

Room had all the required necessities. Room location was very good, very close to main gate, and we just parked the car next to the room. Easy to move stuff from car to room and vice versa. And I think, from kitchen perspective, my wife was quite happy, as it had all basic necessities, that required. .

When we turned on TV in the night, thus it didn't work. And no staff was available at that time, so we could ask them, how to run the TV. It was little bit disappointment, because my son wanted to watch cartoon, but TV didn't work, but it was not the end of the world. Bathroom door was quite shaky (could not recall exact word). It was coming out again and again from top. We had to little bit struggle to open and close the door. It would be really good, if toilet/bathroom door could be fixed properly.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings and place to stay for anyone traveling the bay of islands. Staff were so friendly facilities were clean. Nothing to dislike. We will definitely be back to stay again.

It was fine but I felt it was overpriced for what I got. If I get back it will be using a power camping site sleeping in

The staff is lovely, the amenities are clean, and it is great to be able to bring one’s pet. But I thought the cabin was rather strange, lots of beds and hardly any furniture, just one table that was bolted at the wall, so I couldn’t move it in the way I wanted it. Two plastic chairs. And a fridge. That was it. Nowhere to put my stuff. No bedside tables, no scones lighting, so you had to get out of bed to switch off the light at the front door. I also couldn’t leave the window open because they are not secure and I am a solo traveller, woman on my own. So all up, for $111 plus $20 Dog levy I thought it was a little bit overpriced for a room with shared ablution block and kitchen. It would be great for a school or a scout camp though, or for a big family just looking for a place to sleep

Our Rom was disgusting .. we had booked and we’re supposed to have access to a kitchen/dinning/tv room but were unable to because there was private booking by the The Maori Warden .. we were not informed till we arrived. We left a day early!
