Stunning

The room was absolutely stunning: it had everything I needed, was gigantic but still cosy, the bed was so comfortable I slept like a log. The entire hotel was a work of art itself. Sandra was an incredible host; made me feel very welcome. It isnt terribly central - roughly 25 minute walk to the centre - but that was perfect for me because it was lovely and peaceful, and there are tonnes of public transport options within 3 or 4 minutes walk, plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants within a stones throw. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend Maidon d'Artiste to friends.

Regal stay with a welcoming host

The room was very spacious and comfortable. The hostess was accommodating and friendly. We were offered free bikes, but wanted to walk (only 15 mins to city centre), so we did not use them.

It’s an old building, so it can be a little noisey (either from the room next/opposite you or from the stairway). Purely mentioning this for light sleepers; I personally had no issues with it.

The room is beautiful, comfortable, and pleasant. The location was great for my needs in the area, and felt private. The host was super friendly, available, and helpful. I was very glad that I could use a free bike as well!

The bike I got was not in great shape unfortunately but the host was available in fixing the problem. The room I got was facing the road which at times was a bit noisy, so I would advise asking for the rear room. I was only missing a creamer for the coffee, a coffee mug, and a spoon (there were two long glasses for drinking and a coffee machine, and sugar, but no creamer nor spoons to stir).

Disappointing

The design of the building

We were given another room than the one reserved. We were not prevented in advance that the booked room is unavailable, nor given the possibility to cancel. Furthermore, we did not receive any partial refund for the inconvenience and for the comfort difference (the new room was very basic compared to the elegant, luxurious room we had reserved). The aspect of the room was the only reason for making a booking at this accommodation - not receiving the booked room was a huge inconvenience. Other things we didn't like : - Dust in the room - Very warm room, with no air conditioning - Insufficient toiletries and towels - For 2 persons we received 2 towels (we had to ask for supplementary towels) and one tiny (hotel-sized) shower gel - Location (far from the city center) - Attitude of the staff (they treated the room change like it was no big deal)

Sandra was lovely and we were grateful for the early check in. Great size room including small kitchen and couch. Decorated to a very high standard. Took advantage of the free bikes as well. 🚴

Maison Mielou is a stunning place, any art lover would be thrilled to spend a night there. We adored the details and everything was cozy and perfect for relaxing after a day of walking. Sandra is also a very thoughtful host, always ready to give us recommendations for places to go and try out.

The house has its charm, but we are unsure whether we would stay here again.

We had the suite with the blue interior and it was certainly charming. Whether the interior will be to your liking is of course subjective, but we liked the quirky decoration and the strong colors. The host Sandra is very friendly and very responsive. Location is ok - 5 minute walk to bus station and then 15 minute bus ride into town.

An old house is charming, but this suite really needs maintenance. The heater valves are broken, so it was not possible to have a comfortable temperature in the room. It was either boiling hot or freezing cold (February). The bathroom taps are a bit broken and the floor boards squeak very loudly. The windows are very old, so it was quite noisy in the room.

We had a super holiday!

Breakfast was very good and I had eaten enough for breakfast and lunch :) Bicycles were available for use which was super to explore both city and the surroundings like the nature reserves. We could park the car in their garage.

Excellent, will definitely come again.

Superb location, great breakfast and worderfull owner who is very kind and helps you where needed. Parking is possible in private parking. You can also get a bike for free to travel to the center wich is great, because traffic in the city is very busy. The furnishing of the rooms is excellent and I will definitely come back when I visit Ghent again.

I would like to have some more sockets/plugs. Most of them are used for lighting.

As the French like to say, pas mal...

The place was cute. The room had a lot of character and was spacious. The "kitchenette" in the room was quite ingenious. There was all the basic stuff we needed in the room including towels, shampoo and shower gel, hairdryer, kettle, a small stove, a microwave (we only made coffee and tea tho) , and a fireplace-like electric heater.

There's basically no soundproofing. We could hear from our room quite clearly when people were walking outside, and when someone was vacuum cleaning one floor below us. And the day we were to check out, someone shook (yes shook, not knocked) our door at 9:45am, which was before the latest check-out time (11am). It was a bit strange.

Sprookjesachtige kamer!

Een heerlijke locatie prachtig ingericht, soort barokstijl , heel leuk ingericht. Soort sprookjesstijl. Goed bed, een hele aardige eigenaresse, die voor alles zorgde, koffie enzo. Je kan een ontbijt bestellen, maar wij gingen om de hoek bij de bakker ontbijten.

Bijna niets, een tv misten wij, maar hoort zeker niet bij de stijl. Bekers en prullenbak mag extra.

Prettige ervaring, maar een beetje teleurgesteld.

Personeel was heel vriendelijk. De kamer was mooi en ruim opgezet. Prettige buurt.

Op de site werd er meer luxe geadverteerd dan er eigenlijk was. De luxe zit hem voornamelijk in de uitstraling en niet zozeer in de faciliteiten. Zo oogt het allemaal heel erg mooi, maar echt extra luxe is het helaas niet. Dat komt vooral doordat veel dingetjes net niet klopten waardoor de ervaring niet overeenkwam met onze verwachting. Om een voorbeeld te geven van wat miste: Geadverteerd met geluidisolatie, dat was er niet. Dit is ook niet heel gek sinds het in een oud gebouw zit, geluidsisolatie is dan ook niet gemakkelijk. Stopcontact bij het bed was voor ons niet te vinden. WC stonk. Het probleem zit hem vooral dat de faciliteiten vergelijkbaar zijn met andere plekken, maar de uitstraling iets luxer is. Combineer dit met de grotere afstand tot het centrum waardoor de prijs volgens ons te hoog ligt voor wat je krijgt.
