The welcome was incredible, so friendly and helpful, and every time we passed reception we received the same level of delightful cheeriness. On top of which, we were offered a wonderful upgraded room. The location is wonderful for our visits to the Royal Albert Hall and the Serpentine Galleries and the decoration of the hotel perfect for the period of the building.

Albert Hall had a special event and the hotel was concentrating on people attending this gala. We enjoyed the proximity to Kensington Gardens and the V&A. The bedding was very good quality and comfortable, the Cosy Room was tiny!
There was a lot of noise at night. The corridors with closed doors took a while to walk down to get to the lift. We had to wait to be shown our room and this made check in a long process. Filming was taking place so sitting rooms were not available for our use.

The room faced the street and had an excellent aspect. It wasn't large so, as usual, 2 suitcases open on the room took up most of the space. The position. on the street opposite the entrance to the park and a very short walk to the Albert Hall and Monument, was super for our goals - that was being able to walk a lot. Being close to the parks would also be great for children as there is plenty of space and at least one playground we saw.
Its a fine balance between old world style and trying too hard. It is Kensington, so perhaps people staying in that area expect that "effort" but we found it too much and uncomfortable. We would not stay there again, despite the closeness to the parks, and would try to find something less pretentious.
