Pantai Bungalow Lembongan Island

We stayed at Wayan's bungalow for 17 nights with our two small kids and had a wonderful time. It's literally a ten second walk to the beach and you are in the centre of everything - good restaurants, local warungs, spas and with easy access to surf spots. Wayan and his team went above and beyond during our stay, making sure we had everything we needed. They did cleaning every other day and our rooms were always tidy. I'd highly recommend our stay with Pantai Bungalow, you can't beat the value for the location.

I was happy but family would have liked a TV in room. Sliding exterior doors could do with an upgrade.

Location, staff friendliness and relaxed, private atmosphere

A bit off the main strip, but close and quiet. Metres from the beach. Simple basic accommodation. The host was lovely.

The shower head could use an update. And the doors were a little sticky.

The location was convenient directly behind the busy boat check-in Building.

The property was well below expectations. There was a strong musty and toilet smell, the cleanliness was very poor, and constant noise from a nearby construction site and scooters passing behind the window made it unsuitable for rest especially with a small child. We left after one night and immediately requested to cancel the remaining three nights. I explained that the conditions were not acceptable for a child, but the property manager did nothing to help resolve the situation. They refused to cancel the booking from their side and instead pushed me to contact Booking.com, which led to an ongoing back and forth with no resolution. It felt like a deliberate setup to avoid processing refunds or taking responsibility. Wyan was kind and tried to be helpful, and I appreciated his polite communication. However, despite his efforts, the broader management did not take any meaningful steps to resolve the situation. I would strongly advise families to avoid staying here.

The privacy of having own pool , right at door step , great outdoor seating area - shade areas in pool were great for kids , great location . Delicious breakfast included .

Didn't see , mention of outdoor kitchen / cooking area , although was many afforable warungs in area to eat out and also many upper market restaurants

Excellent location at beach level and central to a lot of good eateries, taxi, bike hire, etc. Booking the two rooms meant we had the whole area to ourselves, which felt special. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and air conditioned.

Plumbing was a struggle sometimes in some of the bathrooms.

RAT INFESTATION DO NOT STAY HERE. Look, I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world, and I have never ever left a negative rating, but this was by far my worst hotel experience ever. My wife and two children booked the family room here with the intention so stay five nights and be closer to the main part of the island after staying at Mushroom bay. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner and asked to sit in the outside seating area. Upon inspection, all the seats were covered in rat faeces. Having travelled extensively through south east Asia and Africa I thought, well it’s a budget option and that’s often what you get. We went into the room and on first inspection it was ok. No rat faeces present. The shower did have black hair all in the drain and the place was filthy, but again thought it was a budget option and we are in no way precious. Upon showering in it later that night, I did find more rat faeces on the shower window sill and skirting board but again thought, oh well budget option. The real excitement started at 4am when my wife and I were startled awake by a large rustling sound in our back pack. Both thinking it was our child, we turned the light on to soon realise it wasn’t. IT WAS A GIANT RAT, ripping apart a chip bag in our backpack. The giant rat 20-30cms long scurried under the cupboard. As my wife and I inspected the room, we were presented with rat shit all over the floor next to where we slept, all over the bathroom and all over the bathroom/kitchen counter. As we sat in our bed immediately booking alternative accomodation, an hour later the rat scurried out from the cupboard and under our bed, and then into the next room under the bed where our children slept. It was daylight and around 7am when this occurred. A very game and bold rat. Upon further investigation, as we sat and listened, you could hear multiple rats in the roof cavity of this property.

Being woken in the middle of the night to rats in our bags, in our room and owner declining to compensate us for the remainder of our stay after checking out first thing in the morning. He then rebooked our room to someone else. Nifty little scam he has going.
