Kingfisher Apt - B4866

Very quiet. Apartment small enough to keep clean. Staff were good about extending my stay, with extra bed linen etc. Grounds are nice and Rosecraddoc Wood next door is lovely, especially in spring.

No outside or hall lights and no handrail for the steps into the property.

Amazing setting, beautiful grounds with a lovely lake, and a walking trail. It was tranquil after a busy day site seeing.

Slight plumbing issue, but it didn’t spoil our stay.

Perfect place for a quiet getaway. The apartment has everything you need and makes for a good base from which to explore both Cornwall and Devon.

I was prepared for the additional electric payment as I’d stayed at the same property previously but I still think it should be included in the price quoted on Booking.com and not be an extra. Even allowing for the electric charge it remains good value.

Grounds were stunning, other properties looked lovely, especially around the lake. Tennis court looked to be in good condition, but damp weather prevented us playing.

Strong smell of damp at bottom of stairs when we walked through front door, also smelt damp in kitchen cupboards. Although it was a large room, there was only a double bed with metal frame either end, it had a sprung mattress that dug in us and every time one of us moved, it was like sleeping in a rubber dinghy. As my husband is 6'5, he could not lie flat as he could not get his feet out of the end of the bed due to metal frame. After a terribly uncomfortable first night, we rang the host, poor reception (wi-fi is not free as advertised, you had to pay a service provider for this and quality was not guaranteed). The host did hear me say we were in Kingfisher and knocked on the door 10 mins later. We asked if there was another apartment we could move to and explained about the bed, he agreed and said he would not be able to sleep in it! He said they were full, but would check 'down the bottom' but never got back to us. We went to Argos in Likskeard and bought a mattress topper and turned the mattress which made the bed a lot more comfortable, but unfortunately no bigger. We only stayed for 4 out of the 7 nights booked. There was only one hand towel provided in the bathroom, one loo roll and no hand soap, so after a 7hr journey, we had to wash our hands with shampoo. Loo took about 1/2 hour for cistern to fill and was noisy. Shower cubicle is tiny and leaked from bottom of shower head which reduced pressure. Only 1 bin bag provided in the kitchen. The information pack hadn't been updated since covid and provided a list of local pubs and if they were dog friendly. The Hayloft was closed down and the Coddyshack does not allow dogs after 5pm, after a 20 mile round journey we found a lovely pub just outside Seaton (which wasn't on the list). The information on the booking site said there was a bar within 300 yards of the property, on asking where this was were told it closed in 2019!
