Would avoid, many better, friendlier locations

The location is lovely, with some lovely views.

The host/managers were extremely rude. I spoke with Steve regarding the electric and WiFi, to which he told me "fuck you" and ended the call,after less than 1minute. I then called both him and Julie leaving a voicemail on each with no response. Extremely unprofessional and left us feeling on edge for the duration of our stay, particularly as we were primarily a female group. There are additional charges for this property which are not listed on Booking.Com and ours clearly stated "WiFi included" with our booking yet apparently this was not the case; we also had no towels for our stay, again not stated, nor was the charge for electricity. The property had not been cleaned for a while, with dirty carpets, cobwebs, dust, paw prints on the dining room floor, broken items such as the tap in the main bathroom; due to no towels we did not use the showers at the property. We reluctantly paid the £20 electric fee before we left, knowing that we would not have used this much electric in the short period we were there, this was mainly as we did not wish to get into an altercation with Steve as we were unsure of his behaviour given the brief phonecall when we arrived. Overall a shame that the hosts were so aggressive, rude and unhelpful, and in my opinion are not fit for purpose. This location has so many advantages, and with correct management has great potential.

Great accommodation- horrendous management

Location and accommodation 10/10

While the accommodation and grounds were excellent, providing a 10/10 experience, unfortunately, the service from the staff left much to be desired. We had booked a dog-friendly lodge and brought our dogs, although I wasn't aware we needed to contact them after booking to confirm. As a result, we were initially placed in a non-pet-friendly lodge, but we were unaware of this mix-up. On day two, we overheard staff discussing our dogs outside the window. When I opened the window to check on the situation, I was met with a barrage of negative comments about having our dogs with us. I calmly explained that we had booked a dog-friendly stay and showed the booking confirmation, only to be told, "You couldn't have." At this point, I asked, "Are you calling me a liar?" Then proceeded to show my booking for lake view "3" (allocated lake view 2) While the location itself was lovely, the manner in which the situation was handled significantly impacted our experience. It's important for staff to approach such situations with professionalism and a calm demeanor to resolve issues without escalation.
