Location & plenty of parking.
Rooms ok. Comfortable.
Bathrooms modern, with lots of hot water.
Sadly by 6pm all sold out of roasts (except pork) & my second choice of pie. Had sausage & mash. Was ok, but felt a tad disappointed.
In the morning, lots of variety for breakfast.
Really friendly staff.
Sold out of some of the Sunday favourites by 5pm. Bit of a shame if you’ve done a long hike & you just fancy a roast. However, dog of good food. Ice cream was heavenly. Room very quiet, despite pub being busy.
Also….. a small point & didn’t impact me because it was heavy fog anyway but the room I booked said Mountain View’ vs the room i was allocated overlooked the carpark at the back. If this is something you’re really looking forward to, maybe check in advance with them directly. I didn’t raise it because it didn’t impact me & I assume (hope) the price was the same.

Jo and Chris were excellent hosts. The were most welcoming and were happy to provide advice on best walking routes and local places to visit. We would stay at the Ramblers again based on this excellent service.

A wonderful quiet, peaceful hotel in an idyllic location. No traffic noise because no through road.
My room was a bit cold to start with, but then fine.

Nice welcome on arrival, checked in early with no trouble.
Good pub food and excellent breakfast options.
The location is brilliant for the train station and walking Mam Tor. There is another pub and cafe at the other end of the village, easy to walk to. We would stay here again.
It was expensive for the size of the room which was cozy but small.

Comfy and cosy. Perfect for cold rainy hiking around Edale, the perfect homely base. Food was also great, beers were cheap and the staff were amazing. Breakfast also included made this great value!

A really warm welcome by staff and a spacious bedroom with comfortable beds and good shower. The evening meal was homemade and delicious with generous portion sizes. Breakfast was equally excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful, from showing us to our room to giving us recommendations on a short walk at the start of the Pennine Way. The location is on the edge of a pretty village and the scenery is stunning and dramatic, highly recommend to anyone visiting and a quick mention that they genuinely welcome dogs.

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms
Food in the evening and morning was very average/poor. Breakfast in particular felt like the food had been cooked the day before- the driest scrambled egg this side of the Atacama Desert

A truly friendly staff and management, a great team, I've been coming here to eat, normally after a walk, for 15 years and it's been a consistently good pub grub pub all that time. This time I booked a couple of nights for a weekend away/ photo shoot and was rewarded with an enthusiastic welcome, a bonus of a steady stream of fantastic automotive material, and so much more. The whole team there were so accommodating, the food was fantastic, it isn't cheap, but then nowhere is these days, the quality however certainly justified the price, as did the staff, it was busy and there was a wait on our first night but Dapo was so friendly and apologetic we quite enjoyed the wait! Room 5 was great, massive soft bed, two other beds in the room, views over towards Hollins Cross over the front lawn terrace, nice ensuite with a very good shower with both rainfall and wand outlets, and big enough for two! A special shout out for the Breakfast Team, great ambassadors for the establishment and the breakfasts were great, we had the full English with poached eggs breakfast one day, and scrambled eggs and smoked salmon the other, the eggs were outstanding on both days. My only possible suggestion might be for a thicker cut of bacon but perhaps I should have asked for it slightly less cooked? But I know a lot of people like it that way, but it was such a trivial matter when weighed against the quality and size of the breakfast, all freshly cooked and served to order by a happy and helpful team! The Sunday Lunch is epic! Go on, you know you want those sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets! As I'm sure you can tell, any expectations I might have conceivable held, were easily surpassed, sometimes the hotel really does make the whole mission work so well and I couldn't have asked for more from The Rambler, thank you.
I know some will complain about a wait at the bar during exceptionally busy periods. The sun was shining all weekend and it was packed, including all the extensive garden seating, having spent some time here though, I can see that it simply doesn't make commercial sense having a staffing level that can cope with that with no waiting at the bar, when if it had been pouring it down, there'd be barely half a pub full and it would be a complete loss. And by 9.30ish, there is only half a pub full, that said I think they're looking for staff so if that was them being short staffed then they managed to pull off a terrific job! All the staff we spoke to said it was a great place to work, and it shows through, so no, I don't think there was anything I didn't like, no wait...fix the toilet roll holder in room 5, there you go, something else to do!

Comfortable bed. Handy location for local walks. Friendly staff. I left before breakfast started, but a lovely lady setting up let me take a couple of bits for the road. The nice man let me in before it formally opened so I could leave my bigger bag there and avoid carrying it on my 16km walk.
The evening meal in was poor. When I checked in around 6pm I asked what time they stopped serving food. I was advised they served food for another 2hrs+ but to come earlier than their last orders. I ordered by 7pm and at that point was told multiple of the main dishes were no longer being served. I tried to order three times, each having sat down and then approached to say that item was also unfortunately no longer available. The penultimate dish I tried to order (I can’t remember what it was now), I was told it had been taken out and appeared to be gone off, so evidently wasn’t being made fresh on site. I ended up having a vegetable pie, which was fine but average. I was quite cold by the window so tried to order a hot chocolate before returning to my room, but was told they didn’t actually do hot chocolate and he said he didn’t know why it was listed on their menus.

My stay was absolutely fantastic. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home.
The room was so comfortable, I drifted off to sleep with ease. After a long day exploring the outdoors, stepping into the Ramblers to find a roaring log fire and a refreshing cold pint was pure bliss.
And the food? Simply amazing. Every meal was a treat. I honestly couldn’t have asked for more – it was the perfect getaway.

A perfect location for hikers, and the bed was nice and comfortable. The food was hearty and helped fill the gap 18 miles of hiking had created.
Nothing - possibly a better range of beers, but that is a minor point.

Comfortable, large room; very quiet! Great views, and great location. Good food in the pub as well, and the breakfast was excellent (even if they ran out of veggie sausages on my last day...). Good wifi also. All around, a great holiday. Also, my family camped nearby and I stayed at the Inn, which worked out perfectly.
no outlets for electrical devices next to the bed, which was inconvenient. Not a major issue, but it's the only negative I can think of...!

Stayed Friday and Saturday of Bank Holiday weekend. Location great, nice room, really good breakfast and generally a nice cozy and relaxing atmosphere in the bar area on the Friday evening. Saturday rather busy
The food service was overwhelmed on the Saturday evening, Waited 1 hour 15min for a simple burger.

Fabulous place to stay, at the start of miles of hiking trails. My room (no. 5) was huge with breathtaking views of the countryside on two sides. The room was extremely quiet (I could not hear any activity from the restaurant, below). I would return here again without hesitation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very tasty, too! Who needs to rent a car when you can simply take the train from Manchester or Sheffield and then walk 2 minutes (if that) to the hotel?
I would suggest to the staff to possibly turn the mattresses a bit more often so they do not develop soft spots / irregularities.

Well situated. Comfortable bedroom
Cooked breakfast was not good. ( other options were better). It’s expensive for what it is.

I loved the location- right next to train station. the decor was so nice- even better than I had imagined it would be- like a hunting lodge. The pub was great, the meals were nice. The presentation of the breakfast was top notch. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful.
I wasn't allowed to take a glass from the bar up to my room.
Also, I asked if there was a lost property that I might be able to borrow a jacket from (as I was unprepared for my hike and the weather became inclement) and I was told no, which is fair enough I suppose.

Our stay at the inn was simply great. The staff were very kind and helpful. Food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the Sunday roast. The location is superb, all the hiking trails right at the doorstep and the train station literally around the corner. We will be coming back soon! Thank you for the hospitality, you are doing a great job.

Location is brilliant.
Very expensive. There was very little breakfast if you didn’t want a cooked one, no fruit and little else. It felt like little effort was being made and the hotel was tired. There was no one in charge and no one cared. Only a few rooms occupied but were were given a small double with no room for both bedside cabinets. World not recommend.

Excellent breakfast included in the price, including locally sourced products. Lots of parking, excellent range of drinks available including no less than 4 cask ales. High quality evening meal. Very quiet location. We will definitely return!
There were no towels in our room when we arrived, obviously just a simple oversight. Also no sockets beside the bed, again not really an issue.

The hotel rooms are above the pub, and there are only a few rooms, but it's not a loud pub, so even though we were there on the weekend, it was not noisy, and we could sleep.
The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful.
Location - the hotel has less than a 3 min walk from the train station which is super convenient if you are coming by train. Variety of great hikes in the area so lots to do if you are into that kind of stuff.
Great room, not dated at all! everything was working. Very comfy bed soft and firm at the same time!
Very nice breakfast actually a good variety and vegetarian options. Great value!
There was a bit of a mix-up with our dinner on the first day, it seems 2 people didn't get their main and starters after 1 h. Seems like the order didn't get through, but the staff was very apologetic and nice about it, and they gave us our food and some free drinks, so all was good :)

All the staff were always offering to help, smiling and very kind. Meal service was very quick, and the vegan meals were superb. They offered to do extra things like fill our flask. The views were wonderful from every window.
