Classic NZ Bach vibes on one of the most beautiful golden beaches

The location is everything. The golden sands are right on the edge of the deck and it’s a serene little corner of paradise. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need.

There was a bit of noise from the upstairs room. Could hear them walking around and talking at night. Even with that small disruption of noise I know I’ll be back to stay again. It was paradise.

Great beachfront location

Great beachfront location with views in the beautiful Cable Bay beach. Comfortable and clean cottage with all the amenities needed, including air conditioning. Comfortable bed. Allowing our dog was a big bonus. We would come back for another stay.

The room we stayed was very close to the highway, but it was quiet in the evenings, so for us it wasn't a big problem. The shower pressure was also quite low.

Best views

We stayed three nights, booked four rooms. Family with kids. Excellent view, private beach, kids can run around, there is a play ground too. If you want to spend some quite relaxing time then this is an excellent place.

There were some pest issues (ants and cockroach🪳) however it's beachside so may be hard to manage.

We absolutely loved our stay in the beach-facing room! The personalised touch with my name and the welcome sign on the door made us feel so special. Everything was perfect — from the view to the comfort and attention to detail. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend!

Excellent communication from the owner Rosemary, advised we would be arriving later than we had advised, made sure a light was on in the unit when we arrived. Informed us if eating out, places closed at 7pm. We were right by the water, excellent views.

Amazing beach view, great location for Cape Reinga and Northland

We loved our stay at Cable Bay Stays! We stayed for one night in Cockle Cottage, a beautifully decorated 60s beach-house themed cabin, as a stopping point between Auckland and Cape Reinga. Driving parallel to the beach to get to the property's parking is definitely a view we won't forget! The property had all the amenities we needed for our stay and would definitely be great for a week or longer too, the cottage had a modern kitchenette, a private bathroom and a spacious living and bedroom space. The cottage was very clean, and the owners had turned on the lights and left a greeting on the door before our arrival which we thought was a lovely touch especially as we arrived after dark. We stayed in the winter but the heating was perfect in the house and the sea views were still stunning despite the colder temperatures. It was amazing to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean nearby. We'd definitely come back again, hopefully in the summer so we can try some of the walks and cafes mentioned in the welcome book!

We loved everything, if we had stayed longer we would have had more opportunity to use some of the beach equipment and could say further on what that was like. However, we only stayed for one night and it was perfect.

Lovely spot for a summer stay.

A comfortable room that had a lovely outlook to the beach. Retro decor. Plenty of facilities in the room - heating, big fridge, microwave, no electric blanket but a spare blanket in the cupboard.

My partner was bothered by the noise of the trucks passing but I slept through this. The building is quite old, probably better for a summer stay when you are mostly outdoors.
