We stayed on Valentines Day and it was a great little visit. The room was cosy, without being too small. A clean simple double bedroom size with a fairly tiny shower room (but fine for what you need it for – showering and washing) situated in a surprisingly large hotel about 10 minute walk from the town centre. From the moment we arrived and parked with no problem, we were made to feel welcome. The TV in the room was small but we weren’t there to watch TV, although I did manage to fit in a viewing of ‘Rambo’ while my girlfriend took a nap. Comfortable bed and an adequate selection of foods at breakfast to set us up for our morning journey really finished off a great stay in this traditional and practical hotel.
A net curtain in the bedroom window would be nice, rather that have to pull the blind down for privacy.

The bed was comfortable.
The room had the tiniest window, stools for bedside tables, no wardrobe or clothes hangers only a coat stand, broken coffee machine and DIY egg boiler.

The staff were all wonderful. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable (lovely tea and biscuits!). I stayed for two nights so on one night I had one of the fantastic pizzas available in the hotel's bar and on the other night I walked 5 minutes to the Thomas Daniell for a meal which was also fab - recommend both and the proximity of the hotel to the Thomas Daniell is a big selling point for me.
Breakfast each day was great - generous and I loved the "boil your own eggs".
Gorgeous decor.
Ideal as it has parking but is also walking distance of the city centre.
Nothing.
Due to the age of the building there is no lift so there are a few stairs depending on where your room is. Not a problem for me but worth noting if you have a lot of bags or if accessibility is a factor.

The hotel appears freshly renovated, thoughtfully balancing modern updates with respect for its age and original features. Parking is a great option, and we also noticed charging points available. Even though we stayed for just one night, it was a relaxing and pleasant experience.
Breakfast could be more varied, particularly with more vegetable options, but we understand that it was the 1st of January and a challenging day for staff to operate in the usual way.
Hard pillows, falling down towel holders no shelves in the bathroom,

The staff is wonderfully supportive of my stay. They extended their time by advising me on dinner and transportation.
Missing small things like washcloth and tissue in the room.

Easy check in and out, large room with lovely large windows which let in lots of natural light. Nice staff and short walk into Truro.
The bathroom fan wasn’t very effective making the bathroom very wet when showering. We felt the layout of the room was a little strange as the first thing you see when opening the door to the room was what felt like an office kitchen. It was very practical but it wasn’t very in keeping with the decor and we were a bit confused when we first walked in. A little heads up would have probably helped with this as the actual set up wasn’t bad at all.

Ideal for our work stay.
Although it says free parking, we were charged £75 as we had a work vehicle! This would stop us staying again unfortunately.

Great location in the town. Good access out of hours. Hotel is easy to find but the back entrance can be tricky when approaching the first time. Friendly staff.
From Australia i am used to a fan in rooms. The hot summer nights and no breeze made things a little warm. Rooms were quiet despite being many on the floor.

the staff were so helpful and caring. wonderful communication skills, Staff showed pride in their appearance, , I love their style. I had to see my boyfriend who was in hospital and the staff were very understanding allowing me to keep my luggage at the hotel on the last day just to go to the hospital.
The room I was surprise to see the kitchen. overall the very large room was comfortable the design wonderful the classic meet with modern. Love keeping the idea of keeping the key features of a Victoria building and link it to modern styling.
I slept well adn the room was quiet,.
Breakfast was great. good variety.
thank you for your support, the service all at the high level.
thanks to Daniel, Sebastian and the gentleman who book me in on the Saturday (sorry i forgot his name). These guys

Breakfast fresh and tasty, location fantastic, staff very helpful and friendly. The decor was lovely in the lounge and bar area and the parking a great addition
The room was far too small, the shower had no shelf and was so small it was difficult to pick up shampoo/shower gel off the shower floor whilst showering. The flush on the toilet was very weak and you couldn't hang up a dress on the hangers as the wardrobe was too short so dresses crumpled at the bottom. A smaller room was expected however this one was hardly functional. 😞

reception
my room had nothing of the flava of the hotel. It was facing the car park and the fumes from cars. It was down a very dark corridor as low as you could get in the hotel and it was a room that should’ve been used for cleaning products rather than sleeping in. when I asked for the sink to be drained, they insisted that it had been done and yet the water still didn’t run away, and the sink hadn’t been cleaned after I complaint.

Daniel that works here went out of his way to welcome us and help us after a particularly stressful day (not caused by the hotel or their staff in any way). He was polite, friendly and went the extra mile to be helpful. The bed was a king and I slept like a log, as it was so comfortable. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The pizzas at night were particularly nice. Lovely little hotel overall.
The shower could have been more powerful.

The building was beautiful but what’s the point of having a nice lounge room and meeting room if the actual bedroom you’re gonna spend all your time is not the same standard. The room was dusty and smell musty.. I spent most of the night having an allergic reaction to the dust. Also, the bathrooms are really outdated and there wasn’t a shower. I felt like I was staying at old people‘s home.
Nice building
