The location is ideal as it is close to everything without being in the main, noisy party of Truro. The room was a very decent size with plenty of storage for clothes. The bed was lovely and comfy and the pillows were super soft. The bathroom was lovely and big with plenty of room and the shower was great with good water pressure.
One of the chairs in the room was broken so couldn't use it. Being such a big room they could have put a fridge for proper milk instead of UHT as there was not enough UHT milk provided. They don't have their own car park so we had to pay and extra £12 for parking in the nearest long stay car park as the nearest car park is only short stay.

My husband was working close by to the hotel so the location was good but the hotel itself was pretty basic and not great value for money
The single room was very small

Good central location
The room we were in was right at the top of the stairs and by a fire door which made it quite noisy late at night and early in the morning.

A perfect location for my NYE plans.
Whilst it was lovely and toasty when I got back, the room was cold when I first arrived. This may have been because the window was opened to let some air in when it was cleaned, but there was also a panel missing from the secondary glazing.

The decaf Nescafé coffee - not the fault of the accommodation - just think Nescafé tastes so bad!

Ideal position for visiting Truro. Staff were friendly enough. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable.
Bedroom and bathroom very tired. Bathroom windows draughty so very chilly in the morning. Hardly any plugs in room, although there was a kettle and coffee etc there was really no where to plug it in except under the dressing table on the floor.

Great location. So central to all amenities.
The room was “tired”. Have stayed there before so wasn’t expecting the room to be as it was. There was a dusty fan in the corner of the bedroom, and a broken tile on the bathroom floor. The bed was not comfortable either.

I've been staying here on and off for a few years when visiting family. The staff are always very welcoming. The rooms are very generous in size as are the ensuites.
Ititially the rooms were of high standard however they are beginning to show their age now. Mattresses are beginning to sag in the middle and the furniture is becoming worn. The rooms are always clean however the communal hallway carpet could really do with a deep clean. Some of the bathrooms have small patches of damage to tiles etc that detract from what is otherwise a good bathroom offering.

The location was absolutely excellent. It could not have been anymore central . It was right next to the Cathedral.
The curtain pole with the net curtain fell down at one end .

Room 1 has a Air con unit some where out side its bed side window that was active all night - made for a restless night.

Its location for me was spot on
Constant noise from what I assume were kitchen fans. The floor tiles in the bathroom need re grouting and the only member of staff that showed any interest in me was the guy that checked me in

Great location and the place looks very lovely from the outside. Being part of a pub was great as when we arrived we were able to grab a drink etc
Staff seemed friendly upon check in.
The room was very dusty, lots of cobwebs and mould on the ceilings. Had a few spider roommates.
The bed was very uncomfortable.
We weren't explained about getting in the back way very well, and didn't understand how difficult it would be in the dark having never done it before. It was down very dark alleyways, and around a really far to the side of a different building, whilst also there were multiple people on the streets doing drugs. As when we got to the property it was 1min past 11, ( they shut at 11) we just knocked to the staff inside to explain we didn't know the way around to ask for advice, and they didn't seem impressed at all. However the bouncer did let us just walk through the very short space (whilst there were still staff inside who were closing up) to the door into where we were staying, which was nice of him, although he didn't seem to be happy about it, but we were a bit nervous about going through the dark alleyways so we were very grateful

Safety aspects
Most people have a mobile phone and other portable equipment for charging. Sockets were not accessible and out of site. PAT labels in view but clients plugs and cables are not. Sockets should visible and be well clear of Mattresses so that any poor connection plugs do not create overheating. The charging sockets were pressing on the mattresses, creating overheating situations. Such could result in a total loss of that hotel.
Smoking in such rooms was stopped because of fire risk. This is a more dangerous situation where the insurers will not pay out on fire risk.
Some hotels in the U.K. have suffered a total loss due to poor socket placement where clients have poor plugs and cables.

The Barley Sheaf has a great location, right by the cathedral. Close to restaurants (when the kitchen is closed) and right in the centre of Truro. I particularly enjoyed listening to bell ringing practice.

Central location
Very, very noisy, hardly slept which was the purpose of me being there. It’s above a pub and there was very loud music and customer noise until after 2.
The fire doors in the corridor slam so loud as other people pass through and your own door rattles with any movement in the corridor.
The neighbouring room is not soundproofed.
Staff had advised using the car park opposite but this is strictly short term only (3 hours) with no return allowed, so had to move the car to a long stay car park.
The kettle lead did not reach the plug socket so had to put it on the floor to use.

It’s in a central location and overall not awful. It was pretty clean and relatively spacious. The staff at the reception were nice
Hands down the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on at a hotel. It was probably from the 80s with how old it was. The linen also smelled of bleach, but at least that means they were cleaned. Bed sheet had a mysterious strain on it

As a single traveller, I had a safe, pleasant, and peaceful stay in Truro. Centrally located, above a 'Regulars' pub, it was sooo quiet. I will recommend it to family and friends.

Was not enough milk. Bins not emptied, no clean towels, one staff member was abrupt but could have been overworked.
