Nice area, handy for airport bus, warm and quiet, very spacious room

Excellent location and quirky hotel, in need of a cosmetic touch in some places, but this didn't hamper our stay at all - things like the shower and towels provided were great, staff were polite and friendly, the room was big, there was complimentary coffee and some packaged pastries if you wanted on offer in the morning, exactly how it described. I would come back and stay here again, no question. Thank you.

The location was superb and central! The bed was amazing with the look and feel of the Scottish architecture that truly resonated with Eliza!
There was a foul smell on our floor where we were staying but it didn't affect us inside only when we passed through it! The staff could have been more welcoming and smiling 😀

Lovely young guy at reception when we checked in. Nice spacious room that was clean.
Checkout at 11am but our flight was at 11pm. Asked to store our bags but were told they couldn’t be kept past 3pm. We then had to pay more money to book our bags to be kept in a nanny bag shop. When we went back to retrieve our bags an hour after checkout, they were placed in a large room with not a single other bag in site so there was plenty of space which made no sense to us. The girl on reception was very rude about the full thing and did not care. There was also exposed wire via a hole in the wall in our room and the heating barely worked( an extra heater is provided too) so the room was quite cold.

Friendly staff, the room was large and airy. The place was well kept and tidy. It was easy to find and close to town without us being right in town! The bed was super comfy and the room was well lit, there were 3 plug points free to use which was helpful. The chaise was also really comfortable and nice for when you dont want to sit on the bed.
The duvet cover may have been too small for the duvet and there was no buttons on it, so it only worked when tucked in, My husband is tall and tucking it in meant it didn't cover past his chest.
The heating came on at odd times. Probably as the heater was programmed but they switched it off at wall every day! So the clock never matched the actual time.
Television programmes were slim picking and freeveiw broke up so was not watchable. I did manage to find some limited programs on a player.

Position. Walking distance to City Centre. Price.
Lack of proper breakfast.
A hot drinks machine and pre packaged croissants and cereal bars in the foyer to take to your room.

Only concern: We are used to 180 x 200 cm beds with two single mattresses and two times bedding. So the beds are not really comfortable for us. Too small, too complicated regarding the bedding.

It was the ideal location just outside the city but felt like your still in it still vibrant but quiet enough, we wnt to the tattoo and was amazed by it but only a short walk back .
the room had stains on the tops of the drawers where the tea/coffee was and a couple of stains on the carpet, the top of the wardrobe had not been dusted so i placed a jumper on it and was coverd but the bedding was crisp and clean and the en suite was shinning clean.

No hot water for shower, room hadn't been vacuumed, bolt on bathroom door almost dropping off, too many extention leads, no switch on bedside light - had to unplug it. No assistance offered with the bags of two seventy-plus grannies, arriving just before midnight, who had spent the day travelling from the Western Isles. Just given the room number and told 'It's on the second floor'.

The staff were all very polite and helpful, the hotel is in a lovely building with original cornice etc, we had a very comfortable bed, there were plenty of eateries and shops nearby and lots of interesting places to explore
The furniture in our room could do with a lick of paint and a couple of the drawers had knobs missing, it was quite warm in the room and we couldn’t open the window but I think that is for safety reasons, there was a fan which helped a little

The staff was amazing! We arrived after midnight and the man who was on the desk was great. Incredibly efficient and helpful. We had an issue with our flights for the next day and he was very helpful to me even thought it was 2am! This young man was truly the best part of the experience.
The place is much older than expected. It is in great need of a refurbishment. Our room was kind of interesting in that the ceilings were incredibly high. However, it was also incredibly stuffy, and the dark wallpaper made it feel super dark and eerie. Our room is not featured in any of the pictures. There were 3 plugin heaters about the room, but no fan. This was July and we needed a fan. The only way to adjust the room temperature was by opening the window. The only room window sits behind two dressing tables. One table had mirrors on top and the other held the TV. We couldn't reach over it all to open the window. So, it was hot! It was also smelly - an old, stuffy smell. The shower is super tiny. If you are a larger person, I don't think you will fit. The hall in front of our room had random things left in it - one thing looked like gym equipment. Very strange. This could be a great place, but management needs to come in and clean up a bit and put in some refurbishments.

It was really easy to get too without going into the busier parts of Edinburgh. It was warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful.
It was a bit dated but in a beautiful old building. For the price and location and one night in Edinburgh it was absolutely fine. It needs doing up a bit, carpets etc but we throughly enjoyed our stay and the concert we went to see at the castle. Any other accommodation nearby was much more expensive.

Location is good. About a 20 minutes walk to Prince Street. Longer to Royal Mule and other attractions. The staff was excellent. They were very friendly and helpful. We had a couple of heavy bags and they were quick to assist in taking them up for us. They also called for a cab to airport and scheduled it for us.
Too bright in the room. Difficult to close the long curtain to keep light out.

It was falling apart, mouldy and generally in a poor state of repair. There was blood on the door frame so it hadn’t been very well cleaned. The bed was clean.

Electrical problems in the room, and the extension lead was dangerous 😳

Location was good, bed was very comfortable, room was clean and comfortable, staff did their job well. No issues or problems and enjoyed the 'authenticity' of the older style accommodation rooms. Conquering the stairs is an added bonus, big saving on gym fees!
A small note to advise that sometimes hot water takes a few minutes to reach the room!

Brilliant location, very central. A bit noisy at times with the trams, but that's to be expected in the city.
Lovely features and the bath was a surprise bonus!
Coffee facilities in the room were great too.
Breakfast would've been great, but pastries were on offer. Plenty of places to eat nearby.

Value for money was fantastic. We had a lovely room and the staff had taken care to help make the stay special with a bottle of Prosecco after I mentioned we were celebrating a milestone birthday. There were free hot drinks and cereal bars/pastries every morning which was lovely when we had an early start and wanted to get going. The room was very clean and quiet, the bed was comfy and tea and coffee in the room is always nice!
Not much! For what we paid we didn’t expect a five star luxury stay and we were very happy with what we got.
