location easy to get to but when asking a local for directions the first thing they said was oh that place is shutdown

geez where do you start? hotel was closed when we got there, had some guy telling us by phone we could not get in till check in a 4pm even though i was just wanting to leave a case ( he just automatically thinks your the thickest people on the planet for turning up early and don`t understand check in times). there was no heating in the hotel , guy bled radiator when we got there, cobwebs everywhere, towels yellow and dirty , bedding also not clean . avoid if you can a halfway house would be a better option

The worst hotel experience I have ever had.

Nothing. Do not let the location skew whatever else you read about this hotel.

The worst hotel I have ever been in...avoid, and do not look at any good reviews; the hotel has since been taken over. I was willing to overlook getting a single room when I booked a double. And was also incredibly forgiving over the misleading photos online. *Only one towel for hands/body/hair *One little bottle of body wash to be used for shower/hair and also for washing hands at sink. *The shower stopped halfway through use and eventually came back on with colder water, made a horrible wailing noise throughout. *There was no hot water in the sink *The milk went out of date in February 2025. *The coffee went out of date in 2022 and 2023 - no date on the tea bags but I'll assume they were out of date too. *The bedding was dirty and had hairs in it. *General cleanliness: cobwebs, spiders, dust and hairs. Overall incredibly disappointing. Opted staying in my car over this hotel. How this place is still trading is an absolute mystery, a complete sham and disgrace to Scottish hospitality.

Couple 2 night stay.

Owner was lovely, bed was comfy was in same room as last year. When arrive go to fire exit and give them a phone to let them know you've arrived n owner will be straight down to let you in.

The stairs again but I knew this b4 I booked and went again. Wish the restaurant would reopen but circumstances happen. Room was roasting but couldn't be helped with how warm it was outside. But had a lovely stay.

This Hotel is not as advertised. No staff,no Bar,no Retuarant or food. The Hotel does not resemble the picture advertising the Hotel.There is no front to this place.This is a place to book a room for an overnight stay, but the owner is a good guy that would go out his way for you.

We didn't stay, place is locked up and access is by calling a phone number and you are then let in. From the moment the door opened we were being treated rudely and by time we got to bottom of the stairs everything escalated. I ended up in a tussle and argument with the person who let us in. Police were called and the trip to Dumfries was not as planned. This venue is very run down, the photos on your page are misleading. From the little we saw and experienced I would advise noone to book a room here. No staff on site, full ground floor in darkness and standards not acceptable. I will now be starting process to get money refunded. I've never experienced anything like this before anywhere in the world.

The location was ideal, the room was comfortable, and although some people did not like the beds, because I have a back condition, the fairly firm bed was perfect for me.
