Wonderful stay

I stayed in a lovely spacious room on the ground floor with a huge bathroom, it had everything you would expect from a hotel room and was a very comfortable stay. The staff were also super friendly and breakfast had a wide array of options, both hot and cold, and was lovely

“Car park” fits 3-4 cars only and you might need a can opener to get your car out.. Nice clean place but a bit tired decor and stuck in a time warp, reminded me of places I stayed with my parents as a child in the 1980’s.

A lovely stay in a traditional B&B

The room was well appointed and bathroom spotlessly clean. The common areas were nice and provided options other than sitting in room. Walking distance to town. Breakfast was great!

Very little to fault. On-site parking a bit limited but plenty on the street so not an issue.

Rod was a great host pointed us in the right direction small walk to the thatched pub for dinner very good , small drive to the centre and harbour

Room was good but we had noisy people staying above us could hear them talking and moving around , but maybe they were just noisy people

Fantastic sea view room,super comfy bed,great shower.,with lovely toiletries.Plenty of choice at breakfast & very friendly helpful hosts(Ron & Mary)Free onsite parking.A 20 minute downhill walk to the harbour.

Very enjoyable with lovely staff and value for money

Very friendly welcoming staff, room was very well equipped as was the bathroom and very comfortable . The location was perfect for us and easy to find

Breakfast was slightly early and our order was taken very quickly before we could really think about what we wanted to order, but it was very enjoyable and good value for money

It was a lovely house and the sea views were nice , lovely new bathroom

I think the description of a room with a balcony was deceiving as we couldn't go out though a window Very hilly walk down to town , we managed it ok but anyone with mobility issues definitely wouldnt

Varley House

A lovely traditional bed and breakfast, was exactly what I'd hoped it would be, was very magical for me to return to Ilfracombe with my young son and enjoy the same holiday experience I did with my parents over 40 years ago. Will be back again for sure. Lovely hosts, great breakfast, and an abundance of tea and coffee in the rooms.

A genuinely warm welcome and a very comfortable place to stay.

Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice available and top quality ingredients. A perfect start to the day.

There was nothing that we didn't like. The hotel was extremely convenient for the ferry to Lundy, and our host had some excellent tips about the town of Ilfracombe.

Lovely comfortable stay and exceeded expectations

Large room with comfortable king size bed , really nice sea view , nicely decorated and furnished that suited the lovely building and the whole building looked clean and fresh , the shower was a good size and had good temperature and pressure ,Good supply of drinks and biscuits in the room , WIFI signal was good . The hotel is situated down a quiet attractive back road and was quiet in the room and I slept well . I was made to feel comfortable as the hosts were warm and friendly . There was a good choice for breakfast , well cooked and of good quality .

Definitely worth a stay.

Great hosts and great location for the south coast footpath and nearby beaches.. We loved our 5 night stay at varley house. Very good breakfast set us up nicely for the day. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby and in and around Ilfracombe harbour a 10 mins walk away. We were guests at a wedding at watermouth cove and varley house was an Ideal place to stay just a short car/taxi ride away. Great value for money.

Lovely place to stay!

Everything was just great. Nice owners, nice and clean room and bathroom, lovely breakfast, great location. We fell in love with Ilfracombe and will definitely return to Varley House!

Beautiful location and friendly owners

Gorgeous views and really friendly and helpful owners who made me feel really welcome. I got upgraded to a sea view room and if I visit again I will definitely try and book a sea view as it was fantastic. Near Hele Beach and Rapparee Cove for a swim and Hillsborough Nature Reserve if you don't mind the hill.

Absolutely lovely

Super comfortable and our whole stay had a lot of character with some great conversations with the host - it really added to our trip! We had been hiking the coastal path for four nights so this offered a very well appreciated break!!

Since we had packs and were tired from walking, the location and finding the property was a bit long. There were a lot of different similar road names so just took us a while to find the house!

Amazing place in Ilfracombe

The hosts are very kind, anything we wanted they were there to help us at anytime. Breakfast actually pretty good. We felt like in home even though we are from Greece!

This might not be a priority for most people but someone like me that uses technology in daily basis and wanted to use wifi, the signal was a bit poor. Since everything else was at such a great level, this issue is somewhat overshadowed.

A charming house situated in very quiet residential area. Good views of the sea and countryside. Harbour 7 mins walk away. Very clean/tidy. Staff made us feel very welcome and very helpful. Great breakfast - certainly the stay value for money.
