In general we enjoyed the comfort, ambiance and food of the hotel.

The bed and linen were superb. Biscuits and tea facilities were also appreciated but there was no milk. Our dinner was delicious and waiters singing happy birthday was lovely. We also appreciated being able to borrow four champagne glasses to celebrate two concurrent birthdays.

We had a problem with the smell of urine in our room from the first time we opened the door. I mentioned this to the receptionist who said she would look into it while we had dinner. When we returned to our room there was a strong smell of air freshener that masked the urine smell but by morning it had returned. The bathroom had looked very clean so I think the smell came from the carpet. The receptionist said there was a large wedding celebration the weekend before (we arrived on a Monday) and that might have contributed to the problem. We would have requested a different room but wanted to be next to our travelling friends. The breakfast muesli/oats was overpriced in my view.

Very enjoyable. Easy walk to Long beach which we did in the morning. Great atmosphere!

Breakfast was lovely. Reception Staff were excellent and also gave us a lovely room. Breakfast service was excellent. Location is great. Views of the sea and plantings were enjoyed from our room. Shower was great. Price was reasonable.

Fried bread was a bit too heavy with the breakfast. i didn't notice this on the menu, so I probably should have asked for it unfried. Not a healthy option. Access to movie channel would have been good as TV is not interesting and full of ads. This would impact our choice to stay a few more days to relax in the evenings. The guided tour bus that drives along the beach should be electric as it leaves lots of petrol fumes behind its slow journey. I understand this is not part of your business.

The room’s only windows were floor to ceiling doors out onto a public deck. In order to have privacy, the curtains were drawn for much of my stay.

The little things

Love the hotel, it's the third time that we've stayed there. Love the history, the area and generally the accommodation. Absolutely fabulous dinner and wonderful wait staff.

The room shared a wall with the external door, heard the door every time someone entered or exited, sometimes wall vibration if not closed softly, room was an accessible one even though we didn't ask for it, water on the floor after showering was a safety risk. But a stunning room nonetheless.
