Amazing authentic Appenzell!

Very nice historic hotel offering fantastic beds just a few steps from the local railway station (modern train every 30 mins, no noise), delicious appenzeller cheese breakfast, thank you!

A pearl of a hotel

I chose this hotel principally because of the location, but also on the strength of the reviews and free parking. This is a delightful hotel, cosy and elegant. I instantly received a heartfelt welcome which will stay with me for a long time. I appreciated the dimmer light in the bedroom, comfortable bed and beautiful bedding. Dinner was simply fabulous, and the possibility of ordering smaller portions enabled me to enjoy a main course and dessert. Waking after a good night's sleep (rare for me), I felt as though I was staying at my favourite aunt's instead of a faceless hotel. At breakfast, ingredients were fresh, local and delicious. I would absolutely stay here again.

Swiss experience

Family run property, owners were paying attention to details and it showed.

It is an older property, but it creates the whole "Swiss atmosphere ". We like traditional style in these type of properties, so it's not a negative thing.

The staff were lovely, friendly and patient with our terrible german, the hotel was spotless and nicely decorated. The room was lovely with the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. Very nice restaurant with a good selection.

Koordinierungsprobleme in der Küche: Die Speisekarte wurde gerade geändert, ohne dass alle in der Küchencrew informiert waren. In der Vorspeise fehlten die angekündigten Feigen, im Hauptgericht fehlte der Rheinspargel.
