Em and Nick's Christmas Experience

The view from our room across Edinburgh was amazing. I could have spent all day looking across at the hills and watching the world go by. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Both myself and my husband had a wonderful Christmas Experience in Edinburgh with the help of yourself and your hotel. We even managed to enjoy your pool and jacuzzi. Many many thanks

Ideal location, but disappointing conditions in the room

The location is ideal. Easy get a bus into the city centre. The hotel bar was nice, and the breakfast was good. We didn’t use leisure centre etc.

Wish they put as much effort into the room as they did the bar/reception area. Had stayed in hotel 2 years previous and the rooms were in much better condition. Our room this time - around the bath and window was covered in mould. Pubic hair was on the ground in bathroom behind bathroom door. Toilet didn’t flush properly for the first day, and after it was fixed the handle needed to be pumped a number of times to flush. The WiFi was not working in the room at all, and Netflix etc on TV couldn’t be used (we had it previously two years ago). A lot of paint work cracked and chipping. Particularly in entrance area of room. No amenities in bathroom except for body wash and shampoo. Staff were nice.

Convenient location for Edinburgh sightseeing

Location is very convenient, sitting at Edinburgh Zoo between the airport and the city centre, next to a regular bus route. Staff were friendly and helpful and range of facilities are good. Price was fair, but not cheap, against other central options.

Hotel is looking pretty tired - in need of a refurbishment in many shared areas and the rooms. At breakfast, crockery was not always clean.

Cheap and cheerful! Near airport

Brilliant staff from check in to check out and in between. Nice to have a pool, jacuzzi and sauna, but unfortunately the changing room floor in the pool was filthy and quite off putting. Good quality restaurant, good breakfast, good general toilets on ground floor. Free parking a huge plus.

Long run. Excellent sleep

Havong run a 57 mile ultra marathon, hotel was 1.9 miles from rhe finish, glad to slump on the bed and sleep for ages. Pure bliss. Great breakfast next morning to refuel body.

Easy to check in and out. Room clean and restocked daily. Comfortable bed. Hotel clean.

Communal areas, bar etc were relaxing as I was meeting five friends there. Good places to relax and chat.

One of my friends was a bit immobile and we hadn’t realised that to use public buses involved quite a steep climb from the road.

Nice hotel, always question their allergy info

Nice hotel, friendly helpful staff, we didn't use the pool/sauna but the fact it had them was great, covered parking with spots that could only be used for motorbikes (which is what we were on) was a big bonus.

Plugs not close enough to the bed to use my cpap, only 3 available plugs for charging, the allergy matrix stated some items were gluten free however they weren't, luckily this was caught by asking rather than relying on their literally allergy information! Spot isn't convenient for local amenities like shops and will require a tax or bus in to town

The restaurant staff were excellent, most of the staff were lovely and helpful.

The rooms are dated and have no amenities like a microwave, mini fridge or safe. The hallways are a bit creepy feeling. The location has no food that is easily accessible and the restaurant is expensive for what you get. The food is good but not anything special.

Staff was excellent

The gym had sticky handles on the machines, and the changing room for the pool could be cleaner. And the constant music in the lobby, bar, resturant and even toilet was super annoying. And also tv screens distracting from human contact in the resturant was also a turn off. Maybe good for single visitors, but very bad when you want quality time with your family.

Location and staff friendly

Wifi was shocking. Only worked in the bar and patchy at best. Doesn't seem like much but try 2 days no wifi and a 16yo. No info bout leisure facilities. Duvet cover had a mark right at face level and was hard so scratched all night.

A well enjoyed family vacation

- The breakfast is really good, value for money. - The rooms are clean and the staff are nice.

- No lifts, for the stroller and for PWD. - The gym instructor is rude, they have told us not to use the pool as they will use it for their exercise. He could have said it in a polite way.

Not great not worth the money

The location to Murrayfield

The price!!! £357 for one room for one night is ridiculous. This price was room only and didn’t include breakfast. For this price you would have expected everything to be immaculate but it wasn’t. The toilet wasn’t clean and the rim of the toilet was disgusting! The shower was very hard to get to a perfect temperature. The ceiling of the room was a mess, looked like it had been papered and part had came off but had never been repaired. The corridors to the rooms had glasses and plates everywhere. The public toilets were a right mess, paper everywhere both when we arrived and when we left don’t think they had ever been cleaned or checked. If they are expecting that kind of money for a stay it should be at least worth the money!!!

Everything was great until breakfast!

Large room, very clean, very comfortable beds, toiletries nicer than expected. Pizza and bacon rolls were very much appreciated when we got in after our concert. Check-in/out staff pleasant and helpful.

According to the guest info on the TV in the room, breakfast is open till 11am on Sundays, so we had a lie in following a late night. However, when we arrived downstairs at 10.35am, staff were mostly unhelpful and avoided us until a pleasant waiter with a local accent told us that breakfast actually finishes at 10.30. All the other staff were trying to put everything away as fast as possible and he told us to grab everything we might want before it all disappeared. Staff were blatantly cleaning and hoovering all around us and we were made to feel very unwelcome. Cooked breakfast food was very poor.

Not worth the money.

The rooms were clean enough and it is located next to the zoo.

Not worth the money. The food in the restaurant is absolutely terrible. The burger was grey in colour. The fish and chips were an embarrassment. Don't expect a freshly battered peice of fish for £22 - no, what you get is an overcooked frozen peice of fish covered in burnt bread crumbs served with a handful of fries. As for the mixed grill, the steak was tough, as was the chicken, the sausage wasn't really to my liking but I suppose that was down to personal preference and as for the fried eggs - I don't know how they managed to cook the egg yolks until they were hard but still have slimy egg white sitting on top. The rooms are small, especially the bathroom - it is another one of those places where you almost get wedged in between the door, sink and toilet when you close the door behind you. The decor in the room was dull - a grey and white theme and there was a mosaic on the bathroom wall that looks like it should have stayed in the 80's. The rooms did seem clean enough though. Overall, we wouldn't go back. The staff did apologise but it didn't seem as if they were bothered, they were just going through the motions.

After a day at the zoo the hotel was perfectly located to relax and rest.

The location was perfect. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was good. The beds were comfortable.

The property and rooms including bathroom were tired and dated. We had a room with an adjoining door to the next room (we weren’t aware that we would have a room like this) and the neighbours were very loud. Either the noise travelled through the door or the walls were very thin and we could hear everything next door.

Bess uncomfy, extremely noisey hotel you can hear everything . Room wasn’t ready until 1.5 hours after check in time. Very basic outdated everywhere except the bar restaurant area. Loud repeated noise outside the room all night. Complained and reception said they would send someone and they never showed up.
