Room is hot and stuffy even with small fan which is supplied in each room
Fan was very noisy during the day and night which made sleeping difficult for me and conversation limiting for my hard of hearing daughter
My daughter enjoyed an early morning swim in the outdoor pool and commented each day on all the sun loungers were empty but had towels on them before 8 am, so no chance of relaxing by the pool if you wanted that option
We only went to the hotel to sleep and shower finding the hotel busy with weddings and other events like an Abba Do which could be heard in our room and across the road from the hotel where the buses stop
The sounds in the room above can be heard and down the corridors with children jumping and screaming during the night
My daughter and myself went to local theatres which were excellent and visited different places by bus
We had all meals out at local cafes and restaurants which were excellent
We asked for two sheets for twin bed on arrival and got quized on why we would want them when we had a duvet
The room on arrival looked like it had not been used and dust was accumulating on dark wooden furniture and was worse on day of departure
Duvet cover looked worn and tired and should have been replaced
Did not have a change of linen during 6 night stay
Bathroom shower mixer tap was very stiff and after several attempts of trying to fix it was offered a new room a day before we were checking out
THE Grand is ideal for Torquay railway station and local buses
Lovely views on the terrace and bar of the sea and Torquay
Hotel rooms and the corridors leading to the rooms need an update and some money spending on them to bring them back to being a pleasant place to be in
Shall be looking for other places to stay in Torquay with outdoor pools and Spa facilities

Just had a few days stay at the Grand Hotel, Torquay. So handy to the Railway Station, with bus stops just outside to pick up buses to take you to so many different places . Had a lovely stay with a very good breakfast.

Arrived an hour earlier than the 3pm check in time to be told I could pay £15 to check in
I returned at 10 pm to be told they would take £80 for breakages
Room was very warm and airless
We turned the radiator off opened the window and we took the fan out of the wardrobe and put that on
Next morning we asked for a sheet as the duvet was too heavy and was not suitable for my daughter and myself who was baking in the bed
The duvet was placed on the wardrobe without cover so if we had wanted to use it on the other nights I would have struggled with my arthritis to get it down
Twin Room was big enough with plenty of hangers
Bathroom was a bath with a hand held shower, which got very hot with poor pressure
Bath had handles to get in with
Towel rail was in an awkward position
Bed was OK for a few nights stay
Didn't spend much time in hotel
eating out at Amici and No 7
My daughter did use the outdoor pool
She brought her own towel which was lucky as the hotel used to supply towels for the pool but not any more
Had a few drinks on the terrace but the area could do with some loving care, plants in pots watered and paving needs attention
On one night that we stayed there was a birthday party that spilled out to the reception and lounge area
Music could be heard in bedroom, we were on third floor
Check out was slow with only one person on reception
I had to remind them to give me back my £80 deposit
