Last minute get away but would not want to stay more than one night!

Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of places to sit and have a drink from the bar in the library and lounge areas. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.

Pools were closed. Our room and the bed was small. Really dated furniture and carpet. The bathroom needed updating and it took 45 minutes to run a bath as the water pressure so low. Wallpaper on the ceiling was coming down and there were hairs in the shower and on the floor from the previous guest. The room smelled musty, so we kept the window open the whole time. Really disappointing.

The breakfast was very good. The staff were very pleasant.

The sink in the bathroom was cracked not excessively but it looks like it’s been cracked for some time. The TV had no local news stations and the room was very stuffy. No ventilation tried opening the windows but too stiff. also, the room I stayed in was right next to the railway station. I woken up at 5:45 with announcements

Reliable Comfort with a Festive Touch

This was my third stay at The Grand Hotel in 2025, so it’s fair to say it’s somewhere I feel comfortable returning to. Overall, the stay was pleasant and very much in line with what I’ve come to expect from this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and everything worked as it should. The festive decorations were a lovely touch and really added to the atmosphere, making the stay feel warm and seasonal.

It was clearly off-season during my visit, and some floors and rooms were undergoing refurbishment. This didn’t hugely affect my stay, but it did make certain areas feel a little less polished than usual. At check-in, the receptionist seemed new and was unable to confirm whether my room had a bathtub, which was slightly frustrating as this was important to me. Thankfully, the room did have one in the end, so it worked out, but the uncertainty wasn’t ideal.

Room was very run down and dirty. It was very very hot (to the point of being uncomfortable). The check inn process took around 20mins which was very disappointing.

Had a fabulous stay.

Friendly staff. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Room clean. Warm and comforting.

Only slight complaint was: No cup in room for making cup of tea on arrival but this was soon remedied when spoke to reception. Breakfast in the morning there were no vegetarian sausages available dispite being on menu. Would have liked to see something in room as to how to contact reception if need. Wasn’t explained on booking in.

Room 219 curtain boards are loaded with years of dust . Poor for my health. Corridoor window frames rain coming in , wet and again mouldy, Rain slacked wall paper in bedroom J no damp smell in corridor Bathroom needs deep clean asap .

Downstairs environment, staff were goo. Reception sfaff incompetent. Whist solving my bill , she answered the phone. Poor service Got a bill that didn’t belong to me . Very poor at resolving my bill Paid too much . Nice

it wasn't th same without the indoor pool but appreciate it had to be done sometime. Curtailed visit as there no pool to 1 night to visit theatre .

Bit tired in places eg. Curtains in room were in holes. No information booklet eg regarding room service and number to dial reception. There seem to be all young staff put together on certain evenings who didn’t seem to want to do the job they are paid for. Maybe some training on customer interaction and having a mixture of the older staff working alongside them. Can the coffee machine be switched off later. We often came in after 10pm and just wanted a coffee in the bar but was told it is switched off at 10pm (why?) It was not clear when and where meals were served.

We stay here often. Lovely staff and cosy rooms. Family rooms and double rooms have always been lush. Always clean. Stayed on the 4th floor for the first time and it looked freshly painted and decorated. In all hotels I have stayed in the pillows have always been pathetic and pointless for use but here I have no issues.

No complaints this visit. I do feel the parking situation is a bit poo though. Always an extra expense.

Perfect for a one night stay.

The bar is a lovely space to sit and have a drink and something to eat. Breakfast was very nice and even though it was a buffet, the food was lovely and hot It is a bonus having the garage so we could park the car

Our room was adequate but appeared quite outdated. I imagine the seaview rooms are nicer

Exceptional Service and Stunning Location — Highly Recommend

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly, polite, and very helpful throughout my visit. The room was big, clean, and nicely warm, very comfortable! I especially loved the dining room; it reminded me of a room from the Versailles Palace, so elegant and charming. The food was absolutely delicious. The location was perfect, right next to the station and just across from the beach. Parking was easy too. Overall, I received excellent service and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Room was good but tight for manoeuvring round. Lovely to have a balcony but accessible only on hands and knees. Room 215 has a shower 600mm square - a total waste of time.

Old hotel, restaurant was lovely. Breakfast was nice, good selection. Toiletries provided which is a nice touch. Had a great nights sleep.

Room very dated, with small bathroom and not a powerful shower. Indoor pool closed for renovation
