Overall the great location made our stay enjoyable

Location was great and staff were good.It made it easy to visit other places of interest around the area.

Our room did not have a view and did not like the noise of the trains going past frequently and the smell of other guests smoking (not cigarettes) in the rooms.

The bed was slightly too firm for us, possibly the need for new/cleaner pillows. - The throw sheet at the end of the bed were dirty. This for us was the only thing that let it down. - that’s with being picky.

An Excellent Stay At Water's Edge Hotel Down By The English Riviera

I liked the hotel and the room I was given for a week. I liked the location as it was in distance of the town of Torquay. It had good transport links to other areas down by the English Riviera by train, bus and taxis. The view outside the main entrance of the hotel was good as well as it is facing the seafront. The hotel also featured a garden with courtyard and numerous car parking spaces. It featured chairs and tables that you can sit down on upon arrival at the hotel main entrance and hotel reception.

What I didn't like is that my bathroom (located in my room) did not have a hot tap to use by the bathroom sink. As I turned the tap, it did not work for the whole week. I did not inform the hotel management about it as they already knew about it. It did not put me off my holiday for the week, nor did it dis-satisfy my overall stay there at the Water's Edge Hotel. I managed to only use the cold tap for the whole week and had plenty of hot water whilst I used the shower suite unit located inside my bathroom.

Excellent- for my requirements

Loved the aspect of this hotel with sweeping views over the bay from the spacious living room and sunny front garden. My single room was perfect for my requirements. Tastefully decorated with large smart tv, powerful shower and the usual array of teas/coffees/milk with added biscuits which were replenished daily by room service. The room and whole hotel was very clean. I would say the professional photos are pretty accurate. Didn’t see many staff but they probably don’t need many as the hotel doesn’t do any meals. There is a small bar and vending machine. The two I met were welcoming. The train station is literally a 3 minute walk away and the harbour about 10 mins but it’s a very easy walk. Buses are outside if you don’t want to walk. It is also convenient for Torre Abbey.

I would have liked the opportunity to get a breakfast (even a limited continental ) as had early train but I knew about this before and didn’t plan ahead (no cafe at station either)

Good value and clean. Stunning views from our front and side windows.

Had to ask to refill tea and coffee. No food on site so had to get breakfast externally. Some fixtures a little tired.

Watersedge Hotel Torquay Aug 2025

For a start, this is our 5th consecutive time of staying here. The room is of modern decor as previous stays, and the room has superb views of the sea and the torquay harbour area. Watersedge is superbly situated, the sea is literally across the rd and entrance. You are only a couple of minutes walk away from the start of the seafront and harbour pubs and restaurents. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. We consider the price to be well worth all of the above. And we have already rebooked for 2026.

Great location but needs better cleaning

Location great. Staff friendly. Beautiful sea views. Nice touch to give box on arrival with tea, coffee, biscuits etc.

Room was not the cleanest (old contact lenses left on floor, dirty toilet and hairs left in shower). The hairdryer made a terrible noise and stank so unplugged it quickly! Very very noisy. Maybe we were unlucky but doors banging all night - everytime someone used their bathroom it sounded like it was all coming through ours! People above maybe having tap dancing lessons all night??!! Not the hotels fault but def spoilt our night with lack of sleep.

Not the best facilities, but it was available at short notice, and the location was excellent.

Location was great and the room was comfortable and quiet.

The was a distinct lack of facilities - only one staff member at check-in, who was helpful, but there was no offer of breakfast or food, there didn't seem to be a bar, and the whole place felt a bit as if it was half closed up. When I got back from the event I was attending there was not available parking space, but the night-porter helped me park in a temporary space.

Receptionist man , came to the reception half undressed not very professional at all trousers undone and shirt aswell We where in a family room on the ground floor look out you window ur hit with a brick wall not a nice view and at night the floor above all night you can hear people walking around and doors slamming shut , are room the door didn’t fit the frame and all night the light shinning through, No bath mat or BIN in bathroom for( lady’s) And the parking is terrible so tight with cars and if u don’t get a space u have to park way down the road not ideal , and nobody at the reception when u need help

Single room right next to railway line.

The room was nicely decorated. Good selection of channels on the TV. The room was clean, but the carpets in the corridor need a good hoover and clean. The paper was peeling off of the ceiling.

You had to reverse into the bathroom to use the loo as it was very narrow. I was in room 46A, and the very large elephant in the room was my room was right next to a railway line that's in constant use. I don't remember reading it anywhere on the site. There was no welcome pack with WiFi password, I messaged the reception and I never had a reply.
