The main property is, arguably, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Historic, picturesque, and wonderfully peaceful. The staff were exceptional, and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I dined in the restaurant on my first night, and the quality of the food was exceptional. It felt like a destination restaurant - nothing fancy or fussy - just really great ingredients, cooked perfectly. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, and enabled me to have some rare sleep (something I am not used to!).
The black swans by the moat were an unexpected treat! I would like to return in the summer to make use of the stunning outside spaces.
Its proximity to beautiful Shrewsbury, as well as stunning surrounding area, made this the perfect location for my trip.
Although of very low importance, the four poster bed was a little broken in its decorative elements (it was still incredibly comfortable). Some of the fittings had worked loose and tended to rattle a little (nothing structural).
One things that made me a little sad was how under-used the hotel is. It was clear that, as is the case with so many businesses in hospitality, the impact of COVID-19 lockdown continues. I spent a wonderful evening in one of the bars, and was the only person. While I enjoyed the peace and quiet, and the opportunity to read a good (as well as talk to the delightfully interesting and pleasant owner), it felt wrong that it wasn't busier. This is, in no way, a reflection of the Manor, the service provided, or the staff running it - I cannot fault anything. It is just a reflection on how we need to support these precious, independent, wonderful businesses before we lose them.

Very clean. Handsome look to the place. Modern bathroom and nice shower. The staff were very accommodating. They did their best when I asked for additional heating.
The room was rather cold. There was just one little radiator for a fairly big room. There was also a small oil filled radiator which did little. I asked for an additional heater which was given to me and that heated the room up. However the heating went off at 10pm so I was still feeling a bit chilly. The next night, the heater that had been given to me stopped working. It was too late to make anything of it so I got into bed to keep warm.
