Marwell Hotel Winchester South

Quiet location. Plenty of parking. All staff were friendly & helpful. Although I’ve made some little negative comments, I would stay here again. Hotel is in the middle of no where, so if you want to leave the hotel in the evening, you’ll need your car.

Only a small thing but more attention could have been taken around sink tap area in our bathroom, maybe a little brush (looked grimy). Otherwise, bedroom was clean & comfortable beds. Sadly places like the dining room looked tired…bad staining on restaurant carpet (maybe a busy season & not had time to clean properly). When arrived at dining area to order evening meal, restaurant completely empty. Had to wait quite a while till someone came to take our order & the meal was a long time arriving. There was a wedding party in full swing, so maybe something to do with it but as the hotel is advertised as an Events Hotel, more staff should have been available. The person who took our food order was very friendly & polite. It was notable at breakfast, in dining room, that only one person on duty, busily seating people & clearing up. Seems to be a staff shortage on both occasions in dining room.

Room was lovely,bed was very comfortable. Staff were great. Fan was included which was great as room was very warm. Price was very reasonable indeed. We come here quite often and always have a great sleep

Toilet flush kept not working,no teaspoons in the room but we were in a hurry so didn't have time to get some from reception,so couldn't have a cup of tea when we 1st woke up. Got to breakfast at 9.15 which I appreciate is on the later side but there was only 2 sausages and some beans left for the cooked breakfast. The lady working there did say she would fry us an egg each but took 30 mins so unfortunately we were just leaving when they arrived

Set in some beautiful woodland very quiet and walking distance from zoo.

I feel it looks a little dated from outside BUT I believe there is or will be works to improve this as during our short stay some rooms were being refitted.

staff very friendly. bedroom had electric socket that did not work and bathroom had damaged tiles on floor and side of bath. plinth below desk damaged.
