Close to both Eastleigh FC and Itchen Valley Country Park parkrun, the two events we had come for.
The staff were lovely.
The food at the Moldy Fig was excellent quality and the service was great, especially from Claire on our first night.
I didn’t like the position on our room, room 1. Next to the staircase and with the smoking area outside our window.

Location
Bathroom needs new sealant bit dated , service on the restaurant not very good , waitress stood next to me and I asked to order my brekkie , she said wait a minute and I will be with you , but she was there
Couldn’t sit where you wanted , was told to sit at a certain table
Ordered a Latte said it would be extra cost , so I said I would have a tea , waitress said oh you don’t want coffee now , she had not made a latte at this stage
Needs to learn how to talk to customers

The chap on reception overnight was really friendly. The location was good, with a lovely lakeside walk right beside it, perfect for a dog walk!
The lamp stands beside the bed were thick with dust, which gave a very bad impression of the standard of cleanliness. There was dirty standing water in our shower cubicle which we noticed shortly after our arrival. Mum pulled the big plug to release it - we couldn't make out where it had come from - we hadn't used the shower. This was reported to the female receptionist, who wasn't particularly friendly.
In addition, the breakfast was poor. The bacon (which I usually love) was like rubber. The continental offering was tight to say the least - mini pastries, but on a tiny plate with a maximum of 2 of each type (up to 6 mini pastries in total) available, meaning you were lucky to be able to grab anything. Mum's poached egg was pretty raw. The mushrooms were obviously tinned - they were awful.

Lovely staff, outside area in the summer will be lovely. But unfortunately the weather wasn’t on my side
Room needs a good deep clean, skirting boards were dusty. Scuffs on the walls from decorating, large patch of plaster. Bathroom and towels had a funky smell

The location was excellent only 10 mins away from Southampton Airport.
Comfortable bed
It’s very tired, desperately in need of TLC
There was a disgusting smell in the hallway of what smelt like drains/sewage
The room itself was covered in dust
The receptionist, although very friendly, was busy with a private conversation on loudspeaker on her mobile phone. When I asked how to go about ordering a pizza from the restaurant next door I was told I had to go there myself to order. When I got there they told me it should have been ordered from the hotel and delivered to me 🤦♀️
You get better value for money with a cleaner hotel at Days Inn or Travelodge

Great pub with happy hour right next door (breakfast was also very good, fresh and served hot
Great view of wedding area and stream from garden view ground floor room
Room 14
Property was extremely dated and had a very musty odour throughout the communal areas.
Bathroom also had a odour (cannot comment what it was though).
The room had black mold on windows, a missing glass lampshade (1of2 per set) 2 bulbs blown, and the level of dust throughout the room was intense, if you have asthma this would not be a good choice.
Bed was clean, but very very soft mattress.
Bathroom had mold throughout in the tile mastic and around furnishings.
The place could be great or was around 10/15 years ago but now in need of a huge refurb too to bottom.
Unfortunately even with a great location and happy hour I would not return until it’s refurbished.

We are very familiar with this hotel and use it coming from and going to the Spanish ferry from Portsmouth since we live in the north of the country. So we have sung its praises in every respect several times. I all probability we will be booking into it once again within or month or two--which rather says it all!
no adverse comment-our stay over of choice

Room was great and well equipped. Checkout time of 10:30 was great. Bed comfy and storage good
Dark and rainy when I arrived and hood up carrying luggage. Wasn’t informed by reception I should register car. Discovered next day that I will get a fine!! When told there were signs I checked and they were all above head height and with the detail in small print so with dark and poor weather conditions no chance of seeing!
Only other issue was shower drowning bathroom

This place was so homely and welcoming. The highlight was how warm and ready to help all staff are. Free parking for 3 days was a real plus. Being by the lovely and serene Moldy Fig jazz bar and restaurant was a treat. I was staying alone but my family joined for some meals - Sunday roast was fantastic all round. Great menu choice. Breakfasts are varied a bit each day which was great. Lovely view of the trees and garden. The bed was super comfortable. Thank you for a fab stay. I will be back again when visiting family.

Property location proximity to airport is great! Also it’s not your typical hotel as it’s a lodge and has a very cozy feel!
I have a massive phobia for animals!! When I read there’s an option for dogs allowed in the facility I didn’t expect loose dogs in the hotel and restaurant without a leash. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the stay for that reason and it took a lot of effort for staff to understand my fear. I do want to say they did eventually accomodate me but I never felt assured and it’s a feeling so I have to go with how I feel. Other than this it would have been a great place to stay and enjoy the surroundings!! I think it’s important to say in your site that there’re dogs with leash at all times in the front lobby. I saw a cleaner in the morning with dog on the cleaning trolley! The dogs barking either at 10pm or 6am in the hallway - just giving you the full picture of what I witnessed for anyone else who maybe uncomfortable with this level of dogs around and who at have a fear!

I was able to park very close to the reception , the room surpassed my expectations and was more than adequate for my needs.
The adjacent restaurant’s food was great and they were able to cater for my needs.
The restaurant entrance was a bit far to walk for me from the hotel and over a bridge HOWEVER, I did unfortunately stay on the same day a full blown storm hit UK - I’m sure on a pleasant summers evening or a crisp wintery morning the walk would have been quite pleasant.

Second time we have stayed. Friendly, comfortable and competitively priced. Great breakfast catering really well for my wife's Gluten free diet and our Lactose in milk intolerance. They get little details right. Plenty of parking, good free wi-fi, a radiator that actually heats the room, heated towel rail, large bath towels, heated and well lit bathroom mirror, anti-slip mat in an excellent shower, proper tooth mugs, proper toilet paper and so on. All backed up by very friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely stay again.
The bed was a little small for us, but we do have a 6' bed at home.

The food in the restaurant was pretty good although they always seem to forget something!
Old and dated. No room service and the restaurant is in a building round the corner so you get wet if it’s raining.

Price, comfy bed and plenty of hot water
Mould in bathroom in the grout and broken toilet seat
