Beautiful stay in an iconic location.

Room was well appointed. Restaurant was lovely - staff were very friendly and accommodating. We even had some snow !

It was a beautifully designed room, very clean, extremely comfortable bed, we had freshly baked cookies in the room too! We love Stow on the Wold and it was great to stay in such a nice pub and hotel. Would 100% stay again.

The shower temperature wasn't that warm, which wasn't a problem as we had good weather so only needed a cold shower!

The reception staff (young chap with a pony tail) was very helpful as was the young bar man who locked up late at night and the India waiter was lovely.

I have eaten at the porch house before and thought the rooms would be really nice. For £100pppn our room was SO disappointing. It was tiny and claustrophobic. We felt like we couldn't move in there. A tiny space around the bed to walk. Nowhere to put bags. It was very, very disappointing. The house cleaner didn't empty rubbish or change glasses. Broken tap fittings and picture frames. No privacy from guests and staff walking past the window. I was expecting a really great room for this price. Bar staff should know how to make a Margarita correctly and they were the worst we'd ever tasted. A total waste of money! I hated the way all the tables were left dirty and not wiped or cleaned around the bar. The tables were full of glasses and dishes. We chose a table in the reception room for 2 and asked the waiter to clear the glasses. His response was, "You can clear them yourselves if you want. Just take them to the bar." This was SO RUDE! After he cleared the glasses I had to back to him and ask him to wipe the table. Better staff training and better manners to staying guests. Over priced room. Mushroom risotto was one of the worst risottos I've tasted.

Room 9 is separate from the others, up a twisting staircase with low beams. But it's wonderful when you get there.

Staff were very friendly - Mandy in particular. Food was really fabulous. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and breakfast at the Porch House. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful in a great location.

The cosy room was rather small. I think older guests would massively struggle with our room with the steps and low ceiling. There is no room to manouver around the bed or past each other anywhere in the room. It was perfectly adequate for our stay as it was one night, but I think the hotel should provide notice that there are low ceilings and steps in this room and 'cosy' really means 'small'.

Beautiful building, great location to be within the town and bed was comfy.

Super hot couple of days in this very small room with no aircon or fans (I did ask if they had any fans) meant no air in the room which was very stuffy. The room’s location at the front of the hotel with necessary windows open onto a constantly busy through-road also meant it was really loud when trying to sleep. No mini fridge to keep the waters left in the room cool either which would’ve been nice for a 5 star. Staff weren’t present at both arrival and departure, very hard to find someone!

Location amazing, property needs a little tlc. The rooms were cold with no heating on, WiFi didn’t work but the property had a really nice feel to it. Had problems contacting the property, constantly ringing and leaving messages but no one ever returned my calls and emails kept bouncing back

Great location for the Cotswolds - and in the middle of Stow-on-the-Wold, which we found to be a beautiful town. Clean, safe and vibrant. Amazing history of the building - room was lovely - bed was very comfortable - bathroom clean and easy to use.

Staff need a little more training on customer service - we were made to feel a hinderance. Lack of staff for bar service - one person serving restaurant AND bar area - not great when busy. Most worrying thing - fire alarm went off and smoke was smelt in the building - NO STAFF anywhere to be seen - all customers basically left to fend for themselves - thank goodness there was not real fire because how we they have known who had escaped and who hadn't - very very worrying.

Beautiful location, beautiful Inn, tastefully decorated, clean, historical, well located with easy access to coffees and restaurants, nice friendly staff. I would stay there again despite some issues (detailed below).

Not noise insulated at all. Other guests slammed their doors non stop all night and early morning (on the cosy rooms side) - maybe doors could have a more silent mechanism or some sort of padding - the gap under the room door didn't help, and we could hear full conversations and radio playing in other rooms as if it was in ours. No double glazing also makes it very noisy, at the front and back. We stayed a few nights, didn't sleep well at all. Food was a bit disappointing compared to other pubs and inns in town.
