The property is beautiful, it has lots of history and is very popular. It was very clean and the room was beautiful, it included toiletries, towels, an iron and a hair dryer. The room is equipped with a coffee machine, tea, coffee and fresh cookies. Our bed was made up on the second day with fresh towels which was also a nice touch. The location is perfect, it is in central stow with lots of shops, restaurants and pubs but also only a short drive away from Bourton on the water which we also thoroughly enjoyed.

Tea & coffee supplies were varied and plentiful, especially appreciated the home-cooked biscuits. Warm cosy room. Very quiet overnight. Attentive staff, without exception.
Pity about the parking, but we realise Stow-in-the-Wold is just a small village so there's nothing you can do about that. Just has a sort walk from the car with our our suitcases.

The room was so small hardly any room to get ready. For the money wasn’t worth it.
Couldn’t fault property other than room size

The overall character of the building and decor is fabulous. It was very quaint, authentic and full of charm. We felt very comfortable at the hotel. The staff are very obliging and we ate at the hotel every night. The food is excellent. A top stay and exactly what we needed after a busy Christmas.
We were in the first room / suite on the first floor, up a short flight of steps. Its a great duplex style suite, with the bathroom upstairs. But a couple of downfalls. Everyone else passes your door and given we were there over New Year, there were a lot of late night revellers. Additionally, the window overlooks the kitchen flat roof and at 7am each day the Kitchen extraction fans start. They are noisy. We are early risers so it wasn't a great problem for us, but I expect it could be for others. It maybe worth considering some new fans as latest technologies are a lot quieter. However, don't let these point distract you from what was a fabulous stay.

Staff so nice , food nice , surroundings nice .
Room tiny , out of the back of the hotel and felt a bit like a goldfish bowl.as people walking past through beer garden could see through our window . V little parking - we had a big problem as arrived Sat lunchtime and ended up driving round car park at bottom of hill waiting for a space . We also had to walk through a private function room to get to bar and restaurant . There is no proper recrption desk .

Beautiful room, and food in the restaurant was outstanding. The waiter who serves evening meal and breakfast was so friendly
The hot water ran out so we were unable to use the bath or shower in the evening, but think this was due to another resident leaving the tap running rather than a problem of the hotel. The water was hot by the morning!

A beautiful, cosy property rich with history! The room was small but we loved the character (just glad that we’re not tall!..) - the bed was super comfortable and the facilities brilliant! The food for dinner and breakfast were gorgeous - definitely recommend! Staff were also lovely! The perfect winter stay!
Only slight downside was that we were the street facing room and it was a little noisy outside - but the weekend before Xmas and across from a pub, you can expect much else!

Absolutely magical place - loved everything - the central location to the beautiful Cotswold and all the amazing , cute villages. The warm and snug fireplace to come home to everyday after exploring- the wonderful and tender roasts- the ambience of all the cosy rooms to eat, drink and relax in- the staff who were always warm and welcoming treating us like friends. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud - sinking into and surrounded by warm fluffy pillows.

Thought check in was a bit strange as felt the desk was in the way a little but as it’s an old building probably the only place they could put it.

It was a beautifully designed room, very clean, extremely comfortable bed, we had freshly baked cookies in the room too! We love Stow on the Wold and it was great to stay in such a nice pub and hotel. Would 100% stay again.
The shower temperature wasn't that warm, which wasn't a problem as we had good weather so only needed a cold shower!

The reception staff (young chap with a pony tail) was very helpful as was the young bar man who locked up late at night and the India waiter was lovely.
I have eaten at the porch house before and thought the rooms would be really nice. For £100pppn our room was SO disappointing. It was tiny and claustrophobic. We felt like we couldn't move in there. A tiny space around the bed to walk. Nowhere to put bags. It was very, very disappointing. The house cleaner didn't empty rubbish or change glasses. Broken tap fittings and picture frames. No privacy from guests and staff walking past the window.
I was expecting a really great room for this price. Bar staff should know how to make a Margarita correctly and they were the worst we'd ever tasted. A total waste of money! I hated the way all the tables were left dirty and not wiped or cleaned around the bar. The tables were full of glasses and dishes. We chose a table in the reception room for 2 and asked the waiter to clear the glasses. His response was, "You can clear them yourselves if you want. Just take them to the bar."
This was SO RUDE! After he cleared the glasses I had to back to him and ask him to wipe the table.
Better staff training and better manners to staying guests. Over priced room.
Mushroom risotto was one of the worst risottos I've tasted.

Room 9 is separate from the others, up a twisting staircase with low beams. But it's wonderful when you get there.
Everything was fine.
