This was a charming hotel in an excellent location.
The decor was very cozy and charming. The room size was good for two travelers with 1-2 bags each. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The receptionist/staff woman recommended a very good restaurant that we enjoyed!
The water heater or pump was noisy in the bathroom. There wasn't sufficient hot water for two baths but ok for showers. Morning street cleaning or trash service was noisy.

Fantastic hotel in a great location.
We stayed at the Sheep for one night in room 2 to celebrate my birthday. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room and hotel is decorated beautifully, staff were very friendly and the food and ambience in the restaurant was fantastic.
We had some problems with getting hot water during our stay but the lady on reception was very apologetic and was going to order a plumber. She also refunded our breakfast which was very much appreciated. The room was very hot so we had to open the window overnight which led to quite a bit of noise from the road. All of this didn’t detract from our stay though. The hotel is fantastic and we will book again in the future.

Lovely hotel
Very lovely hotel, much better than expected. Room was beautiful and clean.
WiFi was not working. We tried at the reception, restaurant, and room, without success. For this reason, we couldn’t give the hotel a 10.

I would happily stay here again
Clean, charming room with an excellent shower. The food in the restaurant was also above my expectations.
We were charged £3.00 extra for 2 additional pieces of toast with the (dinner) starter--this seemed excessive

All in all it was great…we’d for sure come back,
The location was perfect. The receptionists very friendly and helpful. And the server at breakfast gave us some good pointers on what to see in and around Stow.

Very enjoyable.
Staff approach was first-class, particularly Amy, the receptionist who was brilliant. Breakfast was very good.
Stairs were a little difficult for us old-timers but staff handled our cases for us.

Ok would look at other hotels in area
Stayed at this property 4 times but have to say this time was very disappointing
We’re do we start I informed the staff about front door key not working, on Friday night luckily for me someone was in the front lobby
But Saturday at 1.30 being locked out of your hotel is not much fun until a young guy came along and called the manager
I would have thought that a night porter possibly would work
But I have to say the only person who seems to be up for the job is the guy from Canada what a true legend in the sheep.
I think you need address these issues

Great location
Great location, very clean, friendly , helpful staff
The cozy room was a bit too cozy, having said that it was the only room left as we booked last minute. If we came back we would ask for a larger room at the back of the hotel as it’s on a busy road

Good location for us
Front facing first floor room and the curtains didn't close properly. Head board of bed inexplicably 9 inches from wall. Awful choice of beer for a bitter drinker and what they had they ran out of. No information given us on check in about hotel parking. I would have talked to the staff about all of this on check-out but there was nobody at the front desk.

A very nice stay in a great location.
The room was very nice and rustic as well as spotless. The bathroom was very good. The only downside was that the bar drinks were high. The food was excellent and well priced.
price of drinks and limited parking.

Probably wouldn’t return as poor nights sleepand expensive for what we received
Central location and lovely bar and bar staff. Nice shower
The room was tiny and due to the window guards, poorly ventilated so made the room uncomfortably hot making it hard to sleep. There was a small portable fan but it was ineffective and loud. Woken at 0330 but an internal alarm which stopped at 0410 so broken nights sleep.

Never again
Good location. Great bathroom. Free cookie.
Where to start? This was the worse value for money I have ever experienced in a hotel stay.
The room was tiny, at the top of more than 30 steep, narrow steps. No elevator. The small window (no view) had a chain on it to restrict its opening, meaning there was minimal airflow in this stuffy little bedroom. Worse… the lighting. In the (well equipped) bathroom, the ceiling light flashed on and off. In the bedroom, the lights appeared to be in some sort of timer, that turned off after about 30 seconds. Thus led to the room feeling like a baking hot, dark cave. The TV had loads of random digital channels but no BBC. The internet didn’t work in the room (my iPad just giving an error message saying that the router’s internet settings were wrong). I could connect out in the corridor, but only after giving all my personal details - why?
Down in the restaurant, the staff told me that - with no dinner reservation - I’d have to sit in the bar area and order at the bar… despite the fact there were at least 3 empty tables in the restaurant section. How unwelcoming! Even more unwelcoming was the attitude of the check-in person who seemed genuinely incensed that I’d booked on Booking.Com rather than direct with the hotel. Additionally, booking.com patrons don’t get free breakfast, unlike those booking direct with the hotel. Again - what a way to make guests feel unwelcome!
The reception was not staffed 24/7, despite the exorbitant room rate - and there wasn’t even anyone on duty when I checked out - so it was impossible for me to express or rectify these problems during my stay.
Finally, and most important, I’m now staying in a similar.y-sized hotel room (with free cooked breakfast) for less than half the price of this stay at the Sheep in Stiow.
In conclusion - a total rip off. One to avoid!

A lovely hotel. Staff very nice and helpful
Stayed several times before and had been very pleased.
Having booked directly with the hotel previously we booked this time through booking.com
We were disappointed with our room. It was ‘in the lower’ bows of the hotel and was apparently the only room in hotel with the shower in the bath rather than a walk in.
Food in the restaurant in the evening was good although service was very slow.
Breakfast was fine.
Despite the bedroom being disappointing to what we have had before we will return but will book direct to make sure we get what we like.

Nicey but pricey...!
This is a clean, comfortable and convenient hotel.... it's just really expensive compared to most other places we stay.... i suppose that's the cotswolds for you!
The price... but it doesn't stop us returning...!

Lovely spot in heart of Stow
Lovely room, location, service and great breakfast
The location of the room to the kitchen, above the extractor fan which was noisy for the duration of our stay. In the future, I will always state, a quiet room away from kitchen vents for an uninterrupted sleep.

Lovely place and staff, comfy bed, nice food, spoiled by bad order management and bad plumbing.
Lovely place, nicely decorated and appointed, bed REALLY COMFY with nice linen.
The Restaurant manager at breakfast (a Canadian gentleman) was a real hoot and had a laugh with everyone ... he was so bright and breezy ...a real pleasure to be greeted and looked after by him.
Evening meal outside was really most pleasant, however, we only had one starter, and it was an hour after we ordered (only two of us) before we got our main course. The staff were most apologetic and duly produced our dinner (which was really good) within minutes, and said it would be at no charge ... which was more than fair.
The bathroom was really modern and clean and spacious ... rather nice in fact ... as was the rest of the room. However, there was no hot water in the shower in the morning. There was hot water in the sink, but no matter how long you ran it, the shower would produce nothing but cold water. We both had a cold shower (very bracing!). We mentioned it to the lovely Canadian restaurant manager at breakfast, who immediately apologised and said he'd get it looked at straight away ... which he did.
The kitchen obviously has some sort of ordering issue, because they brought out two wrong breakfasts, before they finally got my order right at the third attempt. Again ... staff most apologetic and nice about it.
A very pleasant lady came to see us 20 minutes later to say we did actually have hot water in our shower, but we needed to turn the sink tap on first, then the shower, then turn the sink off to get rid of the gas in the system (as if it was our fault and we should have known to do that), and now it's working perfectly. She was perfectly nice, but I am an ex-water engineer and I know about such things, so we were not impressed that it was kind of intimated that it was user error (our fault) and we should have been able to work it out ourselves. We mentioned our experience upon checking out and to be honest, expected an offer of a small discount for the inconvenience/discomfort with the shower. The lady was lovely, and apologised, but no offer of a discount or anything.

A Great Stay in a Delightful Hotel
We really enjoyed the beautiful historic building and the delightful renovation of the room. The beds were very comfortable providing welcome extras such as tea/ coffee, a small jug of fresh milk on request, homemade biscuits and a fabulous breakfast, cooked to order. The location is perfect for those visitors wanting to explore Stow on the Wold.
We didn’t like having to waste a lot of our arrival time resolving the problem of the hi tech shower. The lady from reception was very helpful and finally discovered the problem was resetting the isolation switch. This could have been done well before our stay of course. We booked in August last year, nine months earlier. We also experienced a whole new level of frustration with an internet connection which was virtually non existent. We assume it was due to the distance of our room from the central area of the hotel. We could connect initially, but then it just dropped out.
