Perfect, so much so we have reserved for Christmas 2026!

The location, within walking distance of nearly everything in the center of Trieste, is perfect. The staff is exceptional! They go out of their way to assist with whatever your needs are. For example, getting a restaurant reservation, recommending restaurants, calling for a taxi. The breakfast served is excellent, providing a variety of food for all, carnivores, vegetarians, vegans and GF.

A wonderful place to stay in Trieste. Really recommend it.

What a wonderful tucked away location, up an alleyway off one of the main streets. It was a little quirky and the room was cozy but really nice to be in.

Nothing really. The black coffee put out at breakfast really didn’t taste of coffee so for some from the coffee machine behind the serving area. Very minor.

Loved staying at the James Joyce and highly recommend!

The kind and very helpful people that worked there esp Nadine and Valentina! Nadine waited for us when we were late and then we had an issue with a tour and she made phone calls for us to try to figure it out. When it fell thru she and Valentina helped us find a car rental! They went way above and beyond!

Everything was perfect - would very gladly visit again

Everything was perfect - we had a lovely spacious room in the attic, which had everything we needed, a great vibe / atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help.

There is no lift access to the attic but that wasn't an issue - everything was great!

Outstanding location and wonderful staff.

Staff was wonderful and the room was very nice, Basic breakfast was good. Fantastic location in the old city’s pedestrian area: a 5 minute walk to Unity Square and a 5-minute walk to the nearest large public parking garage.

Maintenance issues with the shower which the owner said would be promptly fixed.

Short and nice stay in the center of Triest. Definitely will come back to the same place ;)

The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile for us, explaining how to reach the nearby garage (even offering to take us there to avoid walking back to return the parking card); gave us good tips around places/restaurants in Triest. The room was excellent (old flair), with wooden beams, air conditioning, large bathroom and we got well in advance (to hotel arrival) a question from hotel if we would be Ok with this room as one would need to climb the stairs for one floor. Hotel located centrally nearby main attractions.

Very good breakfast, but breakfast room small and rather busy. We ended up on a table on the street that gave a nice atmosphere for the breakfast.

Was a very comfortable stay in a great location with very helpful staff.

Valentina was very helpful and kind. I needed some help a few times and staff was always quick to assist. Very nice people and a great hotel! Will come back and stay longer next time.

nice characterful and cool room. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent location in old part of time, very close to restaurants, coast. good for public transport - bus stop very close and you can pay with contactless. Has a lift despite being an old building.

The bottom sheet was not wide enough to tuck in. The breakfast room is small and hot so eating out breakfast could be better in summer.

Perfect for travelers, clean comfortable and great value

Cozy little room, perfect for one night stay passing through on our way to Ljubljana. Great location, friendly people, quiet, clean and comfortable.

Sometimes the water wasn't hot in the shower, or would go back and forth from hot to cold, and the soap and shampoo pumps were out. We weren't sure people were paying attention. No art on the walls so the room looked a little barren, but it was clean and comfortable which is what you hope for most in a hotel. The room we had was dark but it was quiet. We were quite happy, but a little more detailed attention to the aesthetic experience would go a long way.
