Right from the off the staff in San Gallo could not have been more helpful. We changed our booking a couple of times and it was never a problem, and they kept us up to date on everything right up until our arrival, including great info around the visitor tax, and the best way to get our bags to the hotel from the Alilaguna airport water shuttle.
Always friendly and welcoming and super-keen to be of help, the staff in San Gallo go way above and beyond what's necessary to run a great wee hotel.
The location is fantastic, between St Mark's Square (San Marco) and Rialto Bridge, with only a short walk to either. The room is quaint and quirky but also very comfortable with excellent air conditioning and a great powerful shower. The bed was firm and comfortable - for us at least - as well.
If we make it back to Venice, which I hope we do, we would certainly book again at San Gallo!
The nearby bars close too soon - but that is not the fault of San Gallo!

A last minute booking as there was a train strike! Very comfortable bed. The most beautiful shower room we have had in Italy. Helpful staff. Very quiet room despite position so close to San Marco.
Well , we knew it was upstairs but they are steep.
