The first day of our Swiss journey began at this very hotel, and we were delighted that our very first impressions of the country started here. The place felt truly magical—just like Switzerland itself. The hotel is located on a peninsula, and we were given rooms overlooking the lake. Waking up to such a view, it took us a moment to realize we were not still dreaming. Since we arrived late at night, the staff had thoughtfully prepared envelopes with our names and room keys waiting for us—every detail carried a sense of care. Breakfast could be described in two words: refined simplicity. Everything essential for a moderate yet fulfilling start to the day was there. We loved the hotel so much that on our way back, we stayed there again. Each room had a small refrigerator with two beers inside, priced at 5 Swiss francs. And, by the way, in every room, tucked inside a drawer, there was a Bible. We travelled by car, for which there was free parking here.

We didn't like the fact that we had to leave this place.

Beautiful setting facing south on the lake for afternoon cocktails, lovely breakfast (and room). Quiet. Super spot to overnight as part of a walking trail.

Great relax

The hotel highly exceeded our expectations. The check in was smooth, we appreciated a free room upgrade. The parking is free. The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was really amazing, we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and fresh products.

A good spot for an overnight stay – lovely to have seen it.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, although the view from our room wasn’t the best (we looked out onto the neighbours’ windows). One definite plus was how peaceful it was, with birdsong in the mornings – at least until the neighbours and their children woke up! The beds were comfortable, with crisp white linen. The large bathroom with a long bathtub was also a lovely touch. Breakfasts were fairly standard, though the organic yoghurt served in little glass jars was worth a mention.

There was no kettle in the room, which was a bit inconvenient – though to be fair, it is a 3-star hotel, so perhaps we shouldn’t have expected too many extras. Our room got very warm from the June sun, and even leaving the balcony doors wide open all night didn’t help much.

Would not stay again or recommend at all.

Not much. Good size room, bathroom was ok.

Showing its age, shower over bath is a bit hazardous, with very short return, water all over floor. Booked room with lake view, I could see the lake over car and rooftops but I had a much better view of the house in front of me watching people do their dishes and putting garbage out. I expected a nice bar and restaurant, however restaurant and bar didn’t open until 6pm for dinner, couldn’t spend a few hours by the water in the beer garden having a few drinks, relaxing before dinner. Restaurant very expensive, don’t know what the food was like I couldn’t afford it. Breakfast very basic, the floor hadn’t been swept for days. This is the 17th hotel in the last 45 days and the worst breakfast yet. All in all overpriced ( the most expensive hotel of my trip) a bit run down, needs a good spruce up.

We requested a specific type of room when we booked, which the hotel confirmed they would meet. When we checked in, they put us in a room that did not meet our requirements and would not move us. Additionally there was staining of the sanitary

Rössly is beautifully situated, on the shore of Lake Zurich. Nice rooms, we had lake view, small balcony, perfect beds. The restaurant is very nice, we had a table on the lake. Good local fish and meat specialties. Very nice staff.

Over rated and disappointing.

Not much. The bed was comfortable though.

Nobody at reception when we arrived. 10 minute wait to check in, in spite of phoning non stop. We booked a room with a balcony and lake view as it was a special occasion. The view was of the parking lot and side view of the block next door. No coffee availability in room and no coffee station - outside of the restaurant (which was in adjoining hotel.) No mustard or tabasco or any spice/sauce other than salt and pepper at breakfast. We requested fried eggs for breakfast -no chance. Lights in corridor next to stairs and lift not working.

It was very noisy, either with other guests talking on their balcony very late into the night or close-by restaurant folks being drunk and noisy - was a bit surprised with that. The rooms REALLY need functioning air-conditioning.

great stay in the middle of lake Zürich

location, location, location. view from the restaurant terrace is super. food is excellent as is the quirky service. Hotel room is not the most modern we’ve seen but good enough for a nice sleep. Rapperswil is a 15 minute walk away via the wooden bridge

With more time I would have stayed longer.

Breakfast was good. Receptionist helpful and courteous. The room I was originally assigned stank of smoke. Although now a no smoking room, the curtains still retained the smell of stale cigarettes and there was a burn mark on the desk. Just to clarify, I was once a smoker so I wasn’t being over sensitive. The receptionist found me a room on another floor as soon as she had received my complaint. Hurden is a lovely, peaceful place.

Staff was very friendly and helpful due to our late reservation and arrival. The location is amazing! Food in restaurant was very good.

Would be nice to have a choice of pillows :) but probably if you ask some member of staff, they would change, we didn’t ask. Otherwise we liked everything.
