slightly disapointing

The location and parking was very good. The hotel is at a quiet location and only a few minutes walk from the historic town.

The hotel was supposed to be recently renovated. This was not evident from the bathroom which looked tired and was moldy in place, exactly the same as we have seen several years ago. The buffet breakfast offering was not as good as on our previous visits. There were less options available and the food was of lesser quality.

Overall it met our needs for a short stay at the end of our trip around France.

Room was perfect size for our 2 night stay and the staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay. The pool was a much needed relief from the hot sun at the end of the day and although not large, it was adequate for a quick dip. Breakfast was continental and the choices were ok, and we were not left hungry afterwards.

Being informed beforehand that the school right beside the hotel would be full of kids making noise throughout the day, would have made us reconsider the location and choose a hotel closer to the village centre.

Comfortable and great value for money.

Large room with balcony. Comfortable and relaxed place to stay. Fairly basic but very good value for money and it exceeded my expectations. Good restaurant food and whilst breakfast was a bit limited in choice, the quality was excellent.

We would use the hotel again but 2 nights only if necessary. Definitely a business or a Chinon short stay hotel

Reception bar breakfast and good . Evening dinner good value but rather repetitive over several days . Staff on reception and restaurant very helpful and pleasant no complaints in that respect. Pool was reasonable size for the property clientele but had to request canopy to be opened by staff a 2 person job.

Room terrace furniture floor and walls were thick with leaves dirt insect debris etc similarly patio door frames and runners. Had to ask twice for the floor and furniture to be wiped down over 2 Days finally found cloths and did it myself. A lady vacuumed the terrace after I had cleaned it. She said it wasn’t her job really but complained the lack of staff and the global employment situation was the problem. Location and parking very good

Funtional for a single night

Great location short walk into town for restaurants with no hills. The reception and breakfast staff were lovely. Its oK for a quick overnight stop.

Very tired. The balcony was covered in algae and there was a hanging basket full of weeds. The toilet flush was an issue - we have reported it. Breakfast was basic and some people had to wait 10 minutes for more bread. The patio are is not used now, the area is ful of weeds, the tables are not prepared and the sun shades are not pulled out We we stayed 2 days and the information suggested the room would not be cleaned until we completed out stay. Nevertheless the cleaning staff entered our room with 2 seconds notice whilst my wife and I were having a ‘rest’ on the bed after breakfast.

Quiet and comfortable but needs better maintenance

Room was fine, with balcony and view of castle. Very quiet area, with lake and woods behind. Pleasant staff and good breakfast. About 20 minutes walk to city centre.

The outside of hotel has an air of neglect and seems to have minimal staff. The pool was in use but covered (although it was July there was some rain). The large external pool cover was very dirty and inside the pool area, there was also leaves and other dirt, which did not seem to have been cleaned for a while. Large amounts of weeds growing in garden and patio outside and balcony in room covered in algae. Carpet in room stained. Staff seem to work hard and do their best, but owner not maintaining adequately.

Easy to find very nice location plenty of parking. Very well maintained and the gardens. Very hospitable staff made us very welcome. Nothing to much trouble. Would certainly recommend. Excellent buffet breakfast.

10/15 minute walk to Chinon centre in quiet location. Free secluded large car park for our classic car. Very helpful friendly staff. Comfortable, clean, quiet room. Good breakfast. Good air con during very hot weekend. Recommended. ps: 15 min hop on-hop off bus passes by.

The hotel is in a quiet location. The room size was ok. The breakfast was good.

The soundproofing is very poor, its possible to hear conversations from other rooms. The doors are slamming very loudly every time someone goes in/out of the room. The hotel has not been refurbished since a long time. Its very worn.

Nice but could be better

Lovely coffee.

I have been to other ibis hotels and I have always had bacon and scramble eggs with the breakfast, this time none both days, very dispointed. No fruit salad. No little pots of yogurt. No hand rails in bathroom, or toilet. Lift to second floor, but 6 stairs to go down afterwards, not good for me.

A great stop off for a couple of nights on our return from the Dordogne.

All the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Delicious, plentiful breakfast buffet and we enjoyed an evening meal there. Ideal location for visiting Chinon within walking distance of the fortress, which we had a good view of from our room.

It would have been good to know that the rooms also overlooked the neighbouring school! Decor is looking a bit tired, but clean and comfortable, and I understand is due to be updated at the end of the year.
