The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, and whilst the hotel itself isn’t particularly large, it had a lovely cosy but contemporary feel (we visited at the end of November so it was in the Christmas theme). The bar and dining area were really inviting and well staffed - it’s obviously popular with locals.
Our eventual room had everything we needed and was quiet, despite partially overlooking the main road. The bed was very comfortable and there was a lovely powerful shower.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious with plenty of choice - we’d stay again!
As we arrived a little early our room wasn’t ready. When we returned later our superior room had been given to someone with supposed mobility issues, (none of the rooms are on the ground floor and there’s no lift!) The only 2 superior rooms left overlooked enormous, very noisy extractor fans above the kitchen, constantly, emitting strong food smells. We ended up having to downgrade our room to a much smaller but quieter one but no refund was offered for the cost difference.

A gorgeous overnight stay in this very comfortable, welcoming hotel. Well appointed cosy room, lovely & warm in deepest January (in fact had to turn the radiator right down!), had more than everything we needed. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Enjoyed time in the lounge/bar area, beautiful breakfast. Had 3 rooms booked, all excellent. Very friendly helpful staff. Loved the feel of the hotel, olde worlde charm with excellent facilities. Great location to explore lovely Shrewsbury.
Slightly noisy outside room 12 overnight from something coming out of the kitchen we think. Not a big problem at all though.

Lots of cosy public areas to relax and mix. Comfortable warm bedroom - lovely bath. Great breakfast and bistro was a great choice for evening meals - interesting and tasty.
Sunday evening meal was traditional Sunday lunch - bit heavy for us - the Bistro and restaurant choices on previous evening were excellent

I had an early meeting and was able to prebook my breakfast, it was ready for me when I arrived at 7am. Lovely staff.

Freshly cooked. Good choices
Staff in the wine bar weren’t very friendly.

The style and comfort of it, it was also very conveniently located.
We had steak for dinner and it was chewy and overcooked. The cooked breakfasts were unpleasant, my partner had a full English which was over cooked, he couldn’t cut through the black pudding and I had an omelette which looked and tasted like a rolled up bath mat. Luckily the pastries were edible.

Quality and presentation of food.
Enjoyed the crackling on the belly of pork and the crème Brule tart was exceptional.
An excellent experience.
The price was high which meant we could only dine there once during our stay.
I booked through Booking.com who undersold your property in their description. There was no mention of the fully equipped kitchen which meant we didn't take best advantage of the facility available.

Beautiful hotel with lots of charm, great location, wonderful staff and excellent food.
My room was a ground floor studio not attached to the hotel buta short walk from the main hotel. Not particularly comfy and quite noisy with traffic at the junction close to my room.

Nothing really, just a trivial thing….entrance to car park very tight for my car price could’ve been a bit lower ha ha

Lovely large room, breakfast was very good, staff very polite and helpful.
Meal we had in the evening could have been better, the steaks had to be sent back as they weren't cooked to how we wished. We should have sent back again as my wife's steak returned over done/burned. I've always preferred well done steaks, poor cooks unfortunately tend to burn them!

Our room was clean. The staff was helpful (not with the breakfast)
Everything is really clean. But the matrasses are really old (at least in the room 15) as well as the pillows (didn’t except this for more than £ 200 per night.
Breakfast on Saturdays is at 8 am. No exceptions. My fault I haven’t checked earlier. But (again) for such amount of money they could have tried to find a solution. We’ve been there for the tennis tournament. My 9year old played for 8 hours without a breakfast (prepaid). Croissants from Costa saved the day.

Checking out
The room was very compact and hot. The extra tor fan for the bathroom wasn't working.
The restaurant seems to be the main focus.
As hotel guests we expected to use the bar. On two occasions we were told we couldn't sit in available seats as they were required for the restaurant. The second time, I said I was a hotel guest, where could I sit as I had an injury. It was then conceded that the one empty table could be used by us for a limited time due to a booking at 1800 hrs.

On cold winter nights you don't have to leave! Bar, pub, restaurante and live music. The staff are all great. Food in the restaurant was of a very high standard. Breakfast was nice, not the most exciting but decent.
Room was clean and cozy.
You are in town so easy to get to everything. Lovely rover walk, shops, restaurants
The double rooms are cozy! Small double but comfy. Parking tight but NCP over the road if not possible.

Quality of evening meal was very good. But do not order the Sea Bass as you get only half of a fillet. Basically quarter of a fish.
Had a terrible breakfast in that it took 30 minutes to be supplied after complaing our order was lost. Then the quality of delayed food was overcooked. Only answer I got was "our order was taking longer than usual". When we ordered there was only one other table occupied.

Friendly staff, although odd reception area tucked away. We checked in and were taken to an annex which was back outside the hotel round a corner and down a path, with a tricky key to open the door. Luckily it wasn't raining. Called a studio room, consisting of two rooms, with the tv in the studio room not the bedroom as is usual. Small en suite bathroom. So, a bit odd, though comfortable enough and quiet. Excellent breakfast menu. Helpful staff.

room walls very thin could hear everything that was said could do with sound proofing did main made us feel extreamly uncomfortable and not private.at all. made us feel stressed.

The location is good. Lots of bars and shops.
There wasn’t much I did like about the property. We stayed in a self contained flat next to the hotel.
On arrival the heating wasn’t working, a maintenance guy came and eventually got the radiator working.
The room was very noisy both with traffic noise and the thinness of the walls and ceiling, we were kept awake due to somebody snoring in the room above, not a complaint about the person but the lack of sound proofing.
There was a lot of light coming round the curtains as they didn’t really fit properly. In fact there was sellotape on the curtains where a previous occupant had taped them to the wall. The breakfast had good reviews but we found it very poor. On the first morning the breakfast was cold and was sent back, when returned it was burnt.
We complained to the receptionist and we were moved to another room, in fact we had to queue behind another guest who was also being moved for similar reasons. The second morning we had to wait a hour for breakfast as the chef was late in. We were promised a refund but five weeks and lots of phone calls later still no refund. They always promise to call back but never do. They tell you what you want to hear and do nothing.
No help from booking.com either. There are much better and cheaper hotels in Shrewsbury.

This is a gem. The staff were wonderful, very welcoming. They helped me with my luggage to my room and arranged room service , which was equally impressive. I had fish and chips . The batter was crisp and light, the chips gorgeous. The room was very clean, nicely decorated, had a large bathroom and shower, the bed was so comfy that I had a great night’s sleep. I will definitely stay there again and would recommend to travellers for a very pleasant stay. Thank you for making my stay a pleasant one!

Accomodation was very good and comfortable overall. Stayed in The Stables apartment which was very close to the city centre. Great location. Excellent meals at the Lion and Pheasant hotel. Staff were very friendly.
There was no dressing table or mirror in the apartment where you could dry your hair. Had to dry hair using the plug at the bottom of the bed with no mirror.
The 2 single beds had single quilts with double duvet covers on that draped over the floor and were trip hazards. The water pressure in the shower was poor.
