Cromwell's Tap House

Room was very clean & had everything we needed. Great selection of drinks & enjoyed the food with family. Overall an enjoyable stay thanks to the lovely staff.

Dirty carpet and sofa. Poor shower. Blocked shower tray meant mid shower pauses to allow water to run away. Hot/cold balance almost impossible to maintain.No staff around when we left to complain to. Bed on a slope down towards the headboard. No breakfast option. First and last time staying her

The room wa clean and comfortable. The staff are brilliant. There were a couple of 'issues' when we arrived. TWe couldn't get the bedside lights to work and the radiator was very noisy and not heating. We mentioned this to the staff and both issues were sorted straight away (the fuse switch on the wall had been turned off, hence the lights not working and th radiator had an airlock and needed to be bled).There is some noise from the bar below but this ends when the bar closes at 10.30 and then all is quiet. The food in the bar is delicious and you get a discount on food and drink if you are staying upstairs!

The website is completely misleading and does not warn you about the LOUD BLARING MUSIC that you are literally on top of. There is absolutely NO SOUNDPROOFING as it is a grade 2 listed building and not allowed, the music is BOOMING in the rooms until past midnight which are directly above the bar. Excellent location close to all city centre places of interest. Cosy clean room and we had a good night’s sleep.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean room, could do with a refresh but had everything we needed. Bed was too soft and tilts down towards the head so quite uncomfortable. Generally fine though.

Quite quirky, complimentary tray basic and shower poor pressure. Quite dusty in more out of reach areas like on the top op the bed top and the carpet was worn near the en suit. the bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly. Would expect more for the money.

Staff helpful room was cosy and for the price was OK. Bed was good but bathroom could do with some renovation and upgrading

Fantastic stay and really central.

Bar well stocked. Efficient checking in. Staff all friendly and helpful. On entrance room looked OK however after spending a few hrs there it was evident we had chosen poorly. Carpet was filthy furnishings disgraceful covered with throws to hide stains. Worst part was the bed. The worst three nights sleep we have ever had. Mattress needs condemning and we both woke in pain with our backs. Bathroom adequate. Shower tray had no safety mat. This should be looked at. No fan and bathroom mirror not working. We would add none of this is due to poor staff cleaning as they cannot be responsible for poor furniture and fittings. On discussing whether we should complain we decided against it as we had booked a superior room so it seemed pointless! Furthermore entry and exit door cannot be opened fully and kept sticking. In an emergency this could be fatal. Comments made to encourage owners to improve accommodation. Spend an evening in room 5 and see how you get on. We won't be returning. Very disappointing stay.

The room was comfortable and the staff very friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant was superb, best dessert I've ever had.

Room was lovely, very comfortable with plenty of facilities. The 10% off on food & Drink was a nice touch.

Room was clean but unfortunately it was the most squeaky bed in existence (room 3) woke up every time I rolled over. Also could you not ask the window cleaner to come after check out rather than banging on guests windows at half 7? Surely it'd only be a couple of quid extra to specify after 11?

Great staff. Very helpful and friendly. Lovely room. Some small cleaning issues but nothing major. Just could do with more attention made when cleaning. BEST SUNDAY LUNCH WE HAVE HAD FOR A LONG TIME. Will definitely be back. Would definitely recommend.

Can recommend a stay here. Our room was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and the towels were large and soft (I hate trying to get dried in the morning with a towel the size of a face flannel that has the texture of sandpaper). The staff are excellent, really friendly and helpful (it has been a while since I have booked into a hotel and a member of staff has shown me to the room and carried my suitcase). The rooms are upstairs above a pub. This means stairs and some noise. It is a really old building with plenty of character which means creaky stairs and corridor and limited soundproofing. However, after closing time(11pm) there is no noise. We had a 'larger' room with a fourposter bed. The room was on the small side but there was room enough to walk around the bed and there was chest of drawers, wardrobe etc. Once again it is an old building so this can be expected. The location is great. Within walking distance of the railway station and all the shops, bars, restaurants, tourist sights. We had our evening meal downstairs in the bar and it was delicious. All of this for the price is a no-brainer. We will definitely be returning.

It's exactly what the site states, it's an old pub/ building. Be prepared for the sponginess of the floors, windows don't open (fire hazard) and the very poor quality renovation work. The WiFi didn't work while we were there, very inconvenient.That being said, it's in a convenient location and a good price. The bed was comfortable and the staff were nice.

Lovely room, Plenty of Tea and coffee and towels. Excellent shower comfortable bed. Very good price. This is a really old uneven building.... so even if you are sober you will stagger over the sloping floor!! Ideal if you want the centre of town.

Great location, very welcoming bar, good selection of beers and wines. Room was v cold on arrival and took a while to heat up.

Lovely old pub with really friendly staff. Its an old pub so there is no insulations from the noise of the bar downstairs. Music playing late. Either take earplugs for bed... or join the revellers downstairs!

Great drinks options and 10% off on food and drink when showing your room key. Only downside, there was no breakfast option, but Greggs and Subway on the corner, or lots of other cafes nearby.

Clean, cozy and convenient. Perfect for our stay. Pub downstairs has music but we didnt mind as it was quiet at 10 Monday to Wednesday. Great location and kind staff. Very old and quirky which we love! Great stay.
