Relaxing country getaway

Very welcoming staff and the room was very comfortable with lovely large, comfortable bed. Exceptionally large walk in shower which was lovely. Breakfast was served in lovely bright conservatory, plenty of choice and staff very friendly. World definitely recommend.

The spa closes at 17h. The reason given that it closes early because of children! The hotel is promoted as a boutique spa hotel. Not as a kiddie spa. Kids can go to a playground. If one cannot check in before 13h that leaves very little time to use the facilities. Also, the spa doesn’t open until 10h so it doesn’t give you time to use the spa and change before check out. I would have chosen a different hotel if I had known that. I don’t have time to read the small print so I don’t even know if it is mentioned. Change the description!

Could be nice but needs some work

Very large room. The location was reasonably close to the town but a good 20 minute walk away.

The carpet in the bedroom was heavily stained. The shower flower was dirty. Had I known the room had a bath in it with a shower and toilet that sat behind an inner wall with no doors to separate them from the bedroom I wouldn’t have booked it. The staff were apologetic and stated that this was one of the best rooms so not really good value for the near £200 we paid. We didn’t read that this was a dog friendly hotel which is our fault but I didn’t like being awoken by yapping dogs at 11.30 and 6am.

A lovely hotel which, with regular maintenance, could be so much better!

Excellent room for our needs, with a small dog we could take her out for a walk without bothering reception as we had an external ground floor room. It was also spacious with a lounge area. Breakfast was enjoyable and slightly different each day, so we didn't feel it was repetitive.

Wifi was not available in our room despite it being advertised as being available throughout the hotel. It needs a simple booster to assist with this issue. There were numerous annoying maintenance issues, briefly as follows; broken tiles in shower, tv handset batteries were dead, LED diodes in main light needed replacing, a large amount of paint flaking off entrance door surround. The room was cleaned prior to our arrival, but it really needs a deep clean as dirt has gathered over several months in different places. Eg. window frames, entrance door area, around bedside cabinets. We tried to call the hotel several times prior to booking and ended up leaving a message on the answer machine. This message was never answered. The telephone was only ever answered once in the 2 days were were staying at the hotel.

Nice place, lovely hotel staff, but don’t expect to be able to use Spa facilities

The property was clean but perhaps in need of a little refurb as some of the painting, seals and decor is a little shabby and dated.

The property appears a little tired and whilst the rooms were perfectly clean the grout and seals could use a little attention in the bathrooms and the televisions are old and difficult to operate (our wouldn’t pick up any signal at all) The main gripe for us was the spa. We were a group booking and chose this hotel because of the added bonus of having a spa. We were staying two nights so we’re looking forward to a little r’n’r. On phoning ahead and speaking to the friendly hotel reception team we were informed the spa closed at 5pm, so having changed into the complimentary robes, we made our way now at about 4 to make use of the last hour. However on arriving at the Spa we were informed by the spa receptionist that we could not use the facilities (there was nobody else there), as staff wanted to leave at 5 (as opposed to the facility closing at 5). When we informed the hotel staff they gave an eye-roll and said we should try again in the morning as there were no bookings until midday. On returning to the spa after breakfast as around 10, we were again turned away by the spa receptionist as they informed us they were short-staffed. Didn’t really understand why this would be an issue but no further explanation was given. This was a huge disappointment given that we have decided to stay at The Fishmore for the very fact that it had this facility and missed out on staying in more central location in Ludlow. I think when a hotel advertises itself as a spa-hotel, it’s only fair that guest would expect to make use of this feature. Very disappointing.

Cleanliness was very poor. Fly infestation on the stairs, dirty paintwork and doors throughout. This hotel is run by someone who has only ever seen a picture of a hotel, they must never have actually stayed in one before, let alone run one.

One night stay. Plenty of parking

Clair at reception was friendly, helpful, and so efficient. She also served us in the restaurant and the breakfast room. A real asset to the business. Thank you Clair. Our room and bathroom were large with a nice view across a field. I thought the room colour scheme was drab. There was a fridge and fresh milk in our room. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was good, large portions for the English breakfast.

We were very disappointed with the beer battered cod and the steak we ordered for dinner. The sirloin steak was really tough, the chips were dark and overcooked, the beer battered cod wasn't a beer batter, and the rocket on the plate wasn't tossed in the balsamic dressing at all. A handful of rocket was on the plate with a drizzle of dressing only on the top leaves. As a result, it was dry and so bitter.

Lady in reception very upbeat on check in. Bedroom was large, bed comfortable bathroom large with great shower. TV and reception badly out of date. Biscuits in room a nice touch.

Tables at breakfast were cleared but staff left crumbs and spilled food on tables - looked a mess. Dining room lacked attention ti detail.

Grand house in a grand setting. Amazing staff and facilities. Spa treatment was excellent and facilities were very good and not too expensive. Comfortable room with clean fresh bedding. Large walk in shower. Exceptional breakfast of great quality. Lovely views and an easy drive in Ludlow

Disappointing

The room was spacious and comfortable.

Carpet had large stains, there were spider webs. Extension cables visible and no hair dryer. There was no shampoo or conditioner in the shower. Table cloth at buffet table at breakfast was stained.

Over priced and very tired bedrooms; need a kick up the posterior, but could be fab if they tried.

On arrival no staff in evidence, eventually found someone after 5 minutes. Carpet in bedroom badly stained and the bin outside the hotel entrance was overflowing, and remained so until Sunday morning. Bin in bed room hadn't been emptied. Friday bar staff good, Saturday staff (dual reception) you had to wait for ages - they seemed more interested in talking with other staff than servicing customers. Having paid nearly £400 for the weekend, extremely disappointed, and not going back. Such a shame as a little attention to detail and customers would transform the place. They certainly need to try harder.
