Excellent stay in very nice hotel and great location to rugby and city centre

Was visiting for the rugby game and location couldn’t have been better. Good bar and with good range of drinks. Breakfast was good with wide choice of options

My only slight criticism would be that it took too long to get enough staff on the bar resulting in long lines but once resolved queues moved quickly and didn’t appear to build up again

Location for the rugby was excellent. Bed was comfy.

Room in general felt a bit dated, shower was ok but big people will struggle. Prices are always high for six nations weekend, but if you are going to charge £400 a night then please make an extra effort at breakfast…. Premier Inn breakfasts are better !

We were made to feel very welcome by Said the receptionist, he was so helpful and efficient. A credit to the company. Lovely bar area, the room was spacious and comfy. Big TV and great view from the window.

Room very small for the price. Shower was scalding hot-could not change the temperature. Standard lamp not working, no USB points-unlike the express !

The staff are fantastic and very accommodating. The room was well cleaned.

It feels quite tired, especially the bathroom. Inability to enable air conditioning during winter months is a pain, as the rooms are small and stuffy.

Holiday Inn by IHG Cardiff

This hotel is within a stone's throw of Cardiff Castle and all the shops you could think of. Bustling eateries and bars and all amenities are close by. Loved the area. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was good. Nice bar.

Decor is a bit old and could do with modernization. Bathroom was small but functional. Overlooked the stadium so not the best view. Car park gets full very quickly and when it rains which it did all through our stay, floods with big puddles. Breakfast can be a bit hit and miss as it gets busy and you may need to wait for a table. Drinks are expensive compared to local bars but that's what you get in most hotels tbh.

Here for the rugby weekend. Great location

The bed was comfortable with comfy pillows. Staff were great,. Very friendly and happy to help with anything you needed. Location was great. Right next to the castle and the Principality stadium.

This hotel could really do with some updating. The rooms are looking old and rough around the edges. Carpets in hallways could do with a cleaning. We were not impressed with the breakfast. Cheap sausages that could probably be sourced locally.

Location was great. Didn't have breakfast. Watching rugby in the bar area with friends and family was excellent.

The design of the bathroom was ill-thought-out. WC placement made access to the shower very difficult. By the way, I don't remember asking for a quiet room - I would assume they were all quiet.

We will use this hotel again, loved the food and the location. The staff are great to.

Staff were all great, even then we arrived late in the evening they were all more than prepared to help as much as they could. The location of the hotel is a short walk,from the heart of the city but not so close that it is noisy, and very convenient for the rugby grounds.

Nothing, as I've already said staff were great food was good the hotel was clean and well maintained.

Disappointed compaited to previous stays

We’ve visited a few times now and previously scored the hotel much higher. We like the location and the friendly staff. The previous rooms were nice. Not this time sadly

The room was very small and the bed tiny and uncomfortable. Wardrobe looked like it had been rescued from a skip. No one stops vans or people without blue badges using the disabled spaces so we struggled with disabled members of our party as we couldn’t park nearby despite paying for the privilege. Hardly any bathroom items had been left and a very poor tea tray.

Not worth money for rugby stay

Breakfast

The room was like a cupboard, very small and claustrophobic, window did not shut and was very noisy with passing traffic, only 3 pillows, 2 coffee sachets for 2 people and we were back at hotel by 9pm, Considering we paid in excess of 245 to stay the night u would have thought the room would have been nicer, we often stay during 6 nations but will be looking for other alternatives after this experience

Great Location Great Stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. The location was the best point of our stay as we were so close to the city centre. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and were always there to help when needed.

Except for the above problems, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful, particularly those on front desk.

The location was great to see the Half marathon taking place.

There were electrical socket/switch position problems for ease of use, and the dressing table drawers had to be removed to fix the TV.

Hands down the best pillow situation of any hotel I’ve stayed at recently! Easy parking, easy to find, and a decent bar/ restaurant/ seating area. And Welsh cakes! At reception! Amazing

Would recommend

Great location. Comfy bed. Very clean. Very quiet - no noise from corridors or from the street (even though very close to main streets). Directly across road from castle.

Was really expensive - probably due to the half marathon weekend being on. But was over three times their usual rate with no breakfast included for this price. Just felt a bit ripped off - breakfast included would have softened the blow!
