Overpriced hostel rather than a cheap hotel

Check in was fine, staff (when they were there) were nice.

This really isn't value for money. I paid £70 for what is essentially a single bed private dorm in what I'd describe as a hostel rather than a hotel. Everything about the place was cheap - curtains didn't even reach the bottom of the window sill, a toilet so small you can barely turn around in it, desk wasn't staffed at 6pm on a Saturday. This would be fine for me if it was advertised more as a convenient hostel-style accommodation and proportionately priced, but it wasn't. Premier Inn etc. would be better value for money.

Lovely place to stay!

I’ve stayed at this accommodation many times now and it never disappoints! It’s less than a 10 minute walk into town but on the outskirts enough so there’s noise or anything to keep you up. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Each room has a private bathroom and smart TV. The rooms are tidy and such good value for money! Check in and out is super easy too. Couldn’t recommend enough!

It did not meet my expectations.

Location is the only thing I like about the property. 5 minutes to central train station, BBC and bus interchange station. 15 minutes to Cardiff University.

The room is extremely small—almost like a jail cell. There is no soundproofing at all. I can clearly hear people talking, playing music, and opening or closing doors. The most frustrating part is the shower. Once you turn it on, there is no way to adjust the temperature; you can only wait for it to become boiling hot.

Small rooms- good for just sleeping!!

The rooms were small but fine for a place to sleep. The bathroom was clean, though a bit compact. We stayed just one night and booked two separate rooms — one for the kids and one for us. There were quite a few stairs to climb, but the rooms were comfortable. It’s not really a place to hang out in, but it was close to town and within walking distance to restaurants and food.

Good for a solo traveller who just needs a bed

Great location, very easy to get to from Cardiff Central. The bed was very comfortable and having both heating and a fan in the room was great.

The room was smaller than anticipated, thankfully I ended up staying alone so it was fine for me, but would have been a squeeze having another person, and their luggage to store. The bed and bathroom were clean, but the carpet was filthy.

Good value and very centrally located. Just be aware that this is a "boarding house" NOT a hotel.

Easy to get access to both building and room. Location was excellent for my needs. Room 7 was clean and sufficiently spacious for two [although I was travelling alone]. I requested a double bed preferably not on the ground floor and was given room 7 - just right.

A sign telling me that the water to the bathroom sink could not be drunk was slightly surprising but there was a filtered dispenser downstairs.

Inexpensive, clean, and quiet, but completely impersonal having no Reception.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Heating and ventilation were easily controllable. Location convenient for local transport and in walking distance of the city centre.

Dozens of emails, of which maybe three were useful. No shelf in bathroom. There was a notice not to drink the water in the room and that filtered water was available on ground floor, but the dispenser didn't work. I didn't try the coffee that was also meant to be available in the small area near the front door but did see three people dispose of theirs after tasting it. The kettle in the room and sachets of coffee were available though.

Wisestay just about OK.

The central location was fine, notwithstanding the fact that I got lost a couple of times. Short walk to the shops.

The charge (£14 per day) for on-street parking was a pretty unpleasant surprise. I think that should have been highlighted at the booking stage. There was also the complication of a parking ban on the Sunday due to a match at the Principality Stadium across the river. Again, no prior warning. The bathroom was rather small and initially no bathmat was provided. I had to bend almost double in order to use the sink.

Comfortable place to stay in Cardiff, I would recommend and return here

Very comfortable night in Cardiff. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Good communication. Allowed us to store luggage during the day. Quiet at night, comfortable bed. Private bathroom was clean and well-equipped. I would not hestiate to stay again. Nice location along the river. Close to the tourist sights, train station, and stadium.

Everything was as described and met my expectations. Make sure you are at the correct address, WiseStay has multiple properties on the same street. Not a real problem, just a notice.

A little sanctuary for the weary traveller

It was small and cosy and was equipped with everything you needed to ensure your stay was comfortable

I'm not a great fan of those let-yourself-in devices at the front door with a list of instructions (penny pinching at its worst) - I think every public venue needs a person to welcome guests but also for security reasons

No one there on arrival and had to figure out what we were doing and how to get in. Also no towels in one of our rooms but no one to talk to about it.

Fabulous Find

Fantastic from start to finish . We have stayed with Arron Wise before but this time was a different building . I had rung beforehand to discuss a few things and Kenan ? on the phone was very helpful . They texted me the code for the front door and our room 1 hour before check in . We arrived , straight in and we were ground floor , brilliant as we struggle with stairs . The room had everything we needed , was warm , beds were extremely comfortable , Kettle, TCS , plent of lamps , Shower room with hand wash and shower gel , towels. wardrobe , desk and chair , plenty of plug sockets , FREE WiFi .

There is nothing not to like. It's not the Ritz but you honestly can't go wrong here if you need a place to stay when visiting Cardiff . Could quite happily stay here for more than 1 night . Coffee Station in the hallway with extra TCS , Toilets rolls , microwave . I want to tell the world about this place but also want to keep it our little secret incase it gets so popular that we can't get a room ! Lol.

Good location

Perfect location about 10 minutes walk from Cardiff castle and city centre. Right across the river from the Principality Stadium. Clean and comfortable room. I was on the top floor at the front of the building.....very quiet at night. Had tea/coffee facilities in room. No breakfast available, but was not an issue for me. Would recommend. Pin number to access main door and bedroom door.

Really good value, for a short pleasant stay

Good value -- Nice location, on the River Taff, a few minutes away from Bute park -- Really nice single room, larger than it looked in pictures -- Really easy check-in with a short code provided on the check-in day which is the same for front door & your room, which was nice and easy -- Well decorated rooms, with nice, clean private bathroom -- The staff we bumped into around the hotel were also really friendly.

Some of the floor under the carpet was broken quite badly, probably an old fireplace hearth -- Some of the single rooms were a bit smaller than others, but still really nice.
