Great hotel, excellent restaurant, stellar staff!

It was an updated room in a old-style building right on a beautiful square across from one of the city gates and just down the street from the gondola up the mountain - perfect location for experiencing the city! It's been there a long time, and I really enjoyed seeing pictures of the town and the hotel from the old days in the hallways - it was fun comparing them to what we saw when we walked around! The staff were so very helpful and the restaurant was just amazing - great food and a really traditional atmosphere! The staff were more than polite; they were engaging and funny. They made us feel like family! The fondue and capuns were fabulous - I would order them both again! This trip marked our second dinner and first lunch and breakfast at the restaurant. Lunch and dinner were amazing, and their breakfast for hotel guests was a traditional cold meat and cheese, eggs, etc. spread with very good bread - just lovely!

What I didn't like had absolutely nothing to do with this hotel, but with the Chur Hotel's dance club. I'm sorry to say that it was so loud you could hear it throughout town when trying to take a walk in the evening/night. I find those places ridiculous and wish every one of them would sound proof - it's noise pollution!

Just a night in Chur going to Zermatt

Small. Just looking for a place to stay for the night and near the train station. Got there late at night but young host got us a table for dinner fast. She was so hospitable.

A friendly, reasonably priced hotel, well placed for the rail station

The welcome from Daniela and Rubena was excellent. A real highlight. Warm, friendly and amazing with languages. Thank you. The room was basic but the bed and bedding was super comfortable. Ten minutes from the rail station suited us very well. We had a lovely dinner and the breakfast buffet set us up for our Bernina Express trip.

You can hear doors creaking and guests moving about quite a lot. Fortunately we were tired so slept okay.

Overall good stay, comfortable room and fantastic location

Location is fantastic. Stone throw from zermatt station. coop and McDonalds are 5 mins walk away. Walk to cable car station about 15 mins very nice to walk a lot beautiful houses along the way. Room amenities fantastic, they even provide slippers! Very comfortable bed I slept very well despite some noise, people screaming or talking at middle of night from the alley.

Breakfast was disappointing. No free flow of coffee and no eggs. I skipped the 2nd day breakfast

Far beyond what I expected.

Everything is in excellent condition and perfect because I visited this hotel from Denmark but my country is Sri Lanka, So I felt that this is a far ahead than I thought in terms of hospitality. Thank you hotel Fanziskaner.

Value for money and basic in the old town

Value for money single room, overlooking a lovely square in the old town. Facilities clean. Breakfast nice.

I had room 22 a single room at the front on the second floor. It was very small, and would have been better without the wardrobe into which the door bashed when opened. The partition wall between this room and next door was thin, so I was woken both mornings at 6am by someone else's alarm and TV - they did turn it down when I knocked on the wall.

The staff were great. So friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

It was Saturday night and the street outside was full of shouting drunks until about 2am. The room could have done with a few minor t additions such as kettle, tea and coffee maker, water and couple of glasses.

A nice place to stay for a 1 night while visitting Chur

Nice hotel/hostel for 1 night stay in a location close to the center. Walking distance to the train station. We got two separate rooms while the toile was shared. The place is near bars if you are up for it

The stairs were difficult for all the luggage we had. There is no late check in available. The breakfast options were limited. The toilet was shared but we were placed near it. It was a bit pricey for a hostel.

Rooms were spotlessly clean, comfy bed. Great choice of breakfast, cereal ham cheeses bread rolls yoghurts boiled eggs and fruit. Reception staff and lady at breakfast was lovely. 5min walk from the train station in a lovely little square just off the river.

Recommended for those traveling by car

The hotel was very clean and well-organized, which made my stay comfortable and pleasant. I arrived at the hotel before the check-in time and was able to leave my luggage at the reception. The staff were very friendly and understanding.

The hotel is a 20-minute walk to Interlaken-West train station and a 10-minute walk to Heimwehfluh bus stop. However, the problem is that there is no proper walking path. To reach Heimwehfluh bus stop, you have to walk through a forest path, where there is no sidewalk or pedestrian route. You have to walk along the road where cars pass by, which is quite dangerous and there is always a risk of getting hit by a car. It is almost impossible to walk there, especially after dark. Therefore, this hotel is only suitable for those who have a car. I would definitely recommend it to people traveling by car. Another thing I didn’t like about the hotel is that the description mentioned a kettle, and it was also visible in the room photos. However, there was no kettle in the room. Since it was very cold in March and the room was not warm enough, I needed hot coffee, but this was not possible.

Wonderful location some 8 minute walk from train station. I had a very good checkin process. I ate at the restaurant 2 of 3 nights and highly recommend it. A very nice experience. I read some reviews but did NOT experience any problems. I would recommend.

Can’t find better in Chur : location mega central in haltstadt 10 min from station. Super clean , excellent price excellent breakfast with croissant bread coffee yaourt ham etc….
